thanks for making these vids, man. the content you output really motivates me to persevere in ranked, especially since I once again failed to get into x rank with stamper. using that weapon feels like i'm playing a fromsoft title, but these education uploads always teach me something useful. seriously, thanks.
ranking up into S+0 feels almost impossible right now. the matchmaking during Rank Up is simply unfair, which makes it much harder than ordinary Series (or even X Rank): I would win almost every Series up to each Rank Up. but the Rank Up took me 3 attempts this time because every time I was playing only against top 10 (gold X or Tentatek badge), top 500 (silver X or Tentatek badge), top 1000 (bronze X or Tentatek badge), top 3000 (green X or Tentatek badge) and top 5000 (purple Tentatek badge) players with none of these on my team! once there was a top 10 and top 500 player on the opponent team. another time a top 500 and two top 3000 player. usually at least a top 500 or top 1000 on the opponent team or multiple top 3000 or top 5000 players on the opponent team. again, never a single top player on my team! so you're supposed carry your team and beat top players of X Rank just to get the chance to play X Rank. it wasn't fun, and once I got into X Rank, I got into the top 2000 in my first rotation (i.e. placement + two won series) of X Rank (Tower Control) and even became Top Weapon Wielder of my main weapon in Tower Control. X Rank felt much easier than ranking up into S+0 and X Rank is actually fun because the matchmaking is fair. So ranking up is so hard / unfair that after you make it, you will be able to get a decent rank in X Rank.
As someone who modeled his playstyle after yours, I really appreciate this video explaining your shift with so much commentary. All I've done since Splat 3's launch is focus on hyper aggression, accuracy, fighting skill, movement, mechanics and spawncamping. It's gotten me a Top 500 X badge but I always lacked patience and the proper awareness to just back off sometimes, be patient, abandon ego and actually play smart with my team. All the other High level Splatubers do it but seeing the guy I emulate doing it finally made it click.
Tbf a lot of people play woth their egos because their rank number is on the line, especially X rank where one bad ticket can set you back a lot of points. Also the ego part comes from the fact that splatoon is in fact a team game and people forget that, so they push in solo and expect to get a wipe, only to immediately get shredded and ask why their team didn't push up with them
staying alive is so important for a front liner/slayer... its not all about going in and getting kills if it means you get picked off and create disadvantage that snowballs against your teammates... so even if your aim and movement is bad... at least work on staying alive. your presence acts as a deterrent for the opponent pushes
Just noticed how great your logo is.
The "KIV" agenced like an emblem is neat.
Kiver took a two week trip to a monastery in Nepal to sharpen his splatoon skills, respect.
this is pure bs but I love it
