    Imagine being a former d1 cross country runner and signing up for a local 10k thinking it will be an easy win just to get dusted by a 9 year old that missed his turn off.

    • @Doggles007

      @Muddbug his finishing time was 48:17. Pretty dang fast for a 9 year old but yeah, even decent high school/college runners can do a 10k in sub 40 min. So this was definitely more of a fun local run. Still, not trying to take anything away from the kid, that’s very impressive for a 9 year old and he’s only gonna get faster!

Oogway is actually more like how it's pronounced, though. That is, as long your "oo" isn't a diphthong and the way you say it rhymes with "May". And you say all of it on a single highish pitch., flat and monotone. and yeeeeeup. you have now learned to say turtle in chinese. celebrate. shout it to the heavens. mumble it in your sleep. say it at a chinese restaurant and get confused looks because you just said turtle to your waiter, dipshit

      One 10k I ran was a training event for students preparing to run the LA marathon. So there were about 6,000 high school students and maybe 200 adults. I was about 50 years old and a middle of the pack runner. I heard a couple girls talking right behind me and one said "hey look, there's an old guy, we can't let him beat us". Of course I picked up my pace 😆

    • @ddebenedictis
      @ddebenedictis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @Kyle Dattner Well yes. I participated in that particular run about 4 or 5 times over the years. The vast majority of the students were still learning to pace themselves -- they go out too fast and bonk the last mile. So towards the end I tended to pass a lot of runners. I always enjoyed standing on the sidelines after I finished, about 200 yards from the finish line, and cheering. For most of the kids, that is the hardest part of the run.
