  • Cooling PV panels is very important to decrease the temperature of the modules's solar cell to increase the efficiency.
    This video shows how adding heat sinks with ribs enhances the heat transfer process and cool the PV panel.
    ANSYS FLUENT solver is used and the Solar Ray Model (Solar Load) is used for simulating the sun's rays.

    Hi! Thank you for this great video. I try to follow your steps and got almost the same result as yours when PV cell is suppressed. However, when I tried to combine all the PV layers & unsuppressed. My solution did not converge. & if they did converge, the results were not satisfactory. There were no temperature differences/temp.distributions. The temperature value gave 35 degrees C. I checked all of my inputs and it looks the same as in the vid.
    Therefore, may I know:
    1. How to get a good mesh? (since the thickness is very small. my work interface does not have relevance center option in mesh display)
    2. How to named the selections of all the layers?
    FYI, the design of the PV panel is (2000X1000)mm and the HSF is (1260X830)mm. The fins are at the center of the pv panel.
    Also, I modeled the panel & fins together via CATIA V5. Then, imported it.

    • @haveanicetime
      @haveanicetime  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello dear Aqilah, it seems that you did not watch the whole video because I showed how to model the full PV (With all layers) and then after adding the heat sink. I do not know way you asked about how to create named selection for the layers because I have already shown this.
      The procedure I showed is the only one that works because it guarantees no overlapping occurs. Overlapping causes divergence.
      The mesh size is determined based on the y+ l calculation related to the heat transfer, Re number and turbulence mode. You find this in the references and Ansys user or theory guide.
      Any part must be imported alone following the procedure of add material and add frozen. I modeled the layers in Inventor and imported every one one by one. You can model the fins in Catia or Inventor and then import it alone. After that, you generate the fluid domain around the fins like the way I showed if the fins do not have holes. If they have holes, you must create the fluid domain taking all cavities into consideration to avoid any overlapping.
      That's why I drew the sketch of the fluid domain manually just to surround the fins not overlapping their solids. Do you get this?
      Danke!
