1: You need training on upshifting/downshifting in turns instead of pulling the clutch and free wheeling....Free wheeling will put extra stress on the clutch and transmission when you re-in gauge. 2: If you're going to ride on roads where you need that kind of total control, lose the long fingernails and wear full gloves... If you go down, one of the first reactions is to reach and brace yourself. 3: Remember, most roads are not a clean racetrack....you hit any kind of sand, dirt, leaves...well you can imagine.... otherwise you just need experience and time....
Great advice, can I add to practice in a safe area hitting your front break hard enough to feel the tire fade. You will now know what it feels like and not freak the first time it happens.
@@Lost_Lauryn I’d advise some track training to get used to pushing the bike closer to the limits of grip, then the best thing you could do is an advanced rider qualification. If you want to ride faster and safer on the road, it’s a complete different ball game again to track riding.
As soon as I realized that the 13k+ revving was literally made for the corners, I've never pulled my clutch in again. Had a couple very close cornering calls and a new rider when pulling the clutch in. 🤍👊🏻
Great video, Lauren. I've been riding Blood Mountain since the 1970s. It is a LOT of fun, but also very dangerous. As you head north after you do down the mountain, you can turn left on to Wolf Pen Gap Road, which is much more technical (and tighter turns with slower speeds). That will take you to Suches. Or you can make a right and ride the Richard Russell Scenic Hwy (GA 348) to Helen, which is a thrilling ride. I highly recommend both of those amazing roads. Enjoy, be safe, and keep the shiny side up!
I've live 4 1/2 miles from hwy 19 and 129 intersection. Blood mountain, Wolf Pen Gap, Suches and back to the house in under 45 minutes on my Gold Wing was my daily de-stressor! It's a hoot to ride later in the evening when all the action has died down and folks are eating dinner... much less traffic! Enjoy!
Your countersteering game has got to be on point for a ride like this. If you don't know the mechanics of steering and breaking you're in serious trouble. I HIGHLY recommend, "A Twist Of The Wrist" by Keith Code with commentary by Eddie Lawson and other great riders. The chapter on steering and braking should be required reading by everyone thinking of riding a bike. Great fuckin' video Lauren. Your editing is amazing as always !!! 😘
Lauryn, been following you since super yacht times. I have to tell you after my 25 years in the motorsports industry you really need to get yourself some full fingered gloves. Something good like Helds. If you go down in one of these corners with those gloves you are going to get more than a little road rash. You could lose everything, part of a finger, you could lose a whole finger or you could grind off every fingerprint you have. Please get something safer. 👍🏻👍🏻
I was going to say the same thing. You have to make sacrifices if you are going to ride motorcycles. Long fingernails are the first thing that have to go. You will notice that the lady rider they met late in the day had full gloves on. Also get some proper boots.
Stay in gear and gently on throttle around corners. Here in Switzerland we have tons of mountain roads to practice 😎 Your roads are pretty wide, that‘s cool
Benefit of the doubt: My guess is that she lowered the front of the bike because of her light weight. Otherwise, the forks would be way too stiff for her. Raise the forks in the triple means more leverage against the springs. Sometimes it's a must in order to maximize fork travel. If that is NOT the case, then that GSX-R is probably a nightmare to ride because it's way too twitchy and "on the nose".
@SV6Noobie There is a measurement for how much fork sticks out that is different on every bike. They list that hight in the owners manual to set it back after fork service. Almost never does any bike manual say you can alter that measurement the way the bike is equipped from the factory. She did it so she could touch the ground and likes the way it looks. it's so low now it will bottom the header into the ground before the forks ever bottom out. There must be four inches sticking out of that thing. It's not terrible because she is pretty timid riding and not trying to push herself or the bike. Still must do some squirrelly things that won't help her learn and be comfortable.
@@plap. and that’s why I said to give her the benefit of the doubt. I also watched the video that included the freewheeling and very nervous riding around curves. @SV6Noobie She had a RC 390 first and within a few months it wasn't cool enough. Then had a brand new Gsxr 1000 stolen before this one. She got out of a controlling marriage and hit the ground running. luckily she resides in Florida and not much turning on hills there. lol
Agree with the comments about not pulling in the clutch going into corners. Excuse the "mansplaining" but to add practical advice beyond "go to a trackday school"... Engine braking helps stabilize the bike and lets you smoothly decelerate with less brake force. The key is to downshift before you enter the corner to increase the engine rpms so when you slow down you don't have to shift mid-corner, which also upsets the bike and can affect your line.
Hey!!! I'm in Athens and make the 2 hour trip up there several times a year. Those turns are so fun, almost like a roller coaster. I hope your new friend took you on Richard B Russell, Wolf Pen Gap and up 60. No matter what's going on in my life at the time, those technical rides clear my head every time. Ride safe. Oh, and fall in love with your front brake.

Ride this twice a month early, early mornings so you have it almost to yourself (6am). Try wolf pen gap next, that's a doozie too lol good stuff........SO many roads up that way that are spectacular.
Best part about blood mountain is that it's 2 lane on the way up so you don't get stuck behind old fat guys on harleys vs. somewhere like the dragon that is just a fat guy prade on the weekends. most fun in that area is on a middleweight ADV bike, with the tight twisties you don't need a super sport to have fun on the street, and then you can hit the miles of gravel roads too.

Nice try, however you need to use the engine breaking for corners, less clutch. When entering a turn go down 1 maybe 2 gears before the turn and use the engine breaking to go round the turn. Oh and use full gloves.
Just subscribed to your channel and the video is great. I have just one observation, I hope you don't fall, even in a parking lot, your fingers will take a lot of damage. The fingerless gloves are stylish but will leave your fingers in a lot of trouble. Over 50 yrs of riding I have been down 3 times and a few parking lot falls. Cover your fingers, you will be glad you did. Unless of course the prospect of someone helping you go to the restroom is appealing to you. I have had small low speed falls that have actually torn the fingers of the gloves and would have messed up my fingers which were actually injured anyway. Be safe, have fun and thanks for the videos
Hey! I love your vids and enjoy seeing your perspective of riding and I don’t like to ever think I am better than anyone else but I would highly suggest riding in C mode to get some more confidence then work your way up to B mode then A, I have a 23 GSXR1000R myself and took me a year to be able to ride canyons and twisties FAST in A mode, take advantage of engine braking and trail braking too, when you hold in the clutch your bike loses it’s ability to engine brake and you’ll pick up too much speed for corners, I only ever use my clutch for moving from a stand still, get up the great work and can’t wait to see you progress as a rider!
Where your using the clutch to slow into a corner use the front brake instead. It'll (of course) slow you much faster, but more importantly, it'll put load on the front tire and help it get more traction. Riding twisty roads, if you have to slow for a curve, you should be applying at least some pressure to the front brake until you hit max lean angle, then release it as you get more upright and get back on the power. On a bike with a quickshifter, other than from a stop, you really shouldn't be messing much with the clutch, you want the engine connected to the rear tire is almost all situations. Also, if you're going to do a lot of riding on these types of roads, make sure your gear is top notch. You definitely want some better gloves, the damage even a small slide would do to your hands with the gloves you have is like something out of a horror movie!! Great video work though! I have a lot more experience and can give you riding tips, but you blow me away when it comes to editing!! ;)
The right speed for these runs is the speed that you're comfortable with, no more 👍 That said, counter steering into the corners and don't turn too early, will make it feel a lot easier.. Most importantly, just keep having fun! 👍🤙
First off, you have such a pretty voice, second off, so adorable, thirdly, you should try to find people to ride with that do a track day every once in a while, it can get expensive with brakes and tires and the cost of the track time itself but id say one or two track days would do the trick if you hit twisty’s like this like once a year.
I never liked going with groups because there was always one or two hotdoggers that everyone was trying to keep up with and had some white knuckle rides. Much more liked to go by my self and go at my own pace.
When I passed through Blood mountain there was a Mustang upside down. There are elderly tourists in cars just trying to get somewhere and sportbikers riding track speeds. There weird part is I saw a LEO about a mile from each end instead of patrolling the road.
Try to always be in gear. Pulling in the clutch in a corner and coasting through is scary, but it becomes really scary when you are in a lower gear and engage the transmission again, and have rear wheel kicks out. Love your content, sweet bike as well :D
Damnit I know what I’m doing this weekend I haven’t been this fall sadly , I’m only 48 minutes from that area. Some of the best riding if not the best in GA, then cut across to Helen, jump up to NC and see some great rides that way as well.
Beautiful scenery, loved the drone shots. Struck me as funny, a few of my girl friends have, but no girlfriend or wife has had a Disney princess voice or manner, though I wish it’d been otherwise. At least one would have made an excellent Disney villain though 🤨
We love you so m uch Lauryn, you truely inspire me each and every day, you are a huge inspiration to me, i saw on your instagram you was watching the Tyson fight, but what did you make of it all? lol
Lauryn, ALWAYS ride YOUR OWN RIDE, PERIOD. If you really want to improve your road skills, look into quality schools/classes in your area (be safer, more confident & quicker. The improvement will surprise you. And it would make some awesome content.
I was trying to figure out where Blood Mountain RD is .. GA I guess. Looks like it's Highway 129 same as Tail of the Dragon. Seems I read that it runs from FL to ME or something like that.
You're doing some things that should have been corrected in your MSF BRC class. Did you take that? May need a refresher. Would also recommend taking the MSF Advanced Rider Course (ARC). Those are given at the MSF Training Center in Alpharetta.
not quite sure its the most dangerous winding road but it is fun for sure being I know of several others that are far more dangerous and winding that are also just as much fun that are fairly close to blood mtn. will say though it got its name for a very valid reason. Used to live not far from there and still go there quite often. it isn't for new riders to find out if they know how to ride fast on for sure. next time you're up that way here is a loop you may like possibly depending on where you're staying at. start off at 2wheels of suches on hwy 60 head north to dial road(hwy 5) turn left, then head west to newport road turn left onto it for aprox. 1mile, turn right onto Aska road. stay on it until you get to blue ridge, ga and turn right onto hwy 76 and stay on it until it turns back to hwy 60 turn right onto hwy 60 south and head back to 2 wheels of suches. quite sure if you haven't taken this loop yet you would like it a lot. will say on another note the troopers can be bad on the road during the weekends as well. glad you two had fun and enjoyed the ride. stay safe out there might run into you sometime never know.
Oh Lauryn your risk taking is getting bigger and bigger and i hope your being safe as possible! Although i'm sure if they ever made a new XXX movie you would be the MC doing all the stunts lol
Most important skill for riding on roads like these is trail braking. If your pace is not quick enough, rolling of the throttle and down-shifting is enough. Most important thing is having that weight on the front tyre. And you go on the throttle only after you see the corner exit, or if you need to use maintenance throttle to keep your speed up if you are going too slow. And just one more piece of advice, wear quality gear, all of it. Having flesh stripped of your hands, down to the bone, or losing fingers, is not a fun thing. I wish you a lot of fun, happy miles, be careful out there.
Come ride with Fast Line Track Days! Contact Becky Meyer. She and Chris run one of the best orgs in the south east. Great way to learn on track. We run a great novice session. Enjoy your ride.
You have a quick shifter on that bike and on roads like that for practicing not touching the clutch utilize that. You should never be pulling the clutch in and coasting. “ out of gear, out of control”. I know there are many comments being negative about this but you just need something that will help. I had a gsxr1000r it’s a wonderful bike and you can get it, use what you have to be safe and impove.
Vid too short I was just settling in for another run. Always best to stay in your comfort zone, only ride at 80% of your ability. I ride motocross, if you start over riding you're going to go down, and it hurts! It just gets a hold of you sometimes. Name of the game.

I feel the same as you, however I’ve never been on a bike, purchase my first bike 1000cc started riding. Going straight, handling the bike is easy but when in corners I struggle however i do ride better on hot days obviously in my mind i trust the tires more.

Hi lauryn, I used to ride bikes and when I rode with a mate of mine I found that I could not keep up with him especially on the corners he always seemed to go faster than me one day he said to me how come you don’t keep up with me I told him I felt unsafe to corner so fast he said to me which way are you steering I told him going left I steer left and right for right corners ahh he said now I know why , he said steer left to go right and steer right to go left I thought that sounds weird I got back on the bike and followed his instructions woooow what a difference I could keep up no problems I had been riding for 4 years and now I felt like I had released the handbrake on my bike it became a pleasure to ride take care stay safe regards peta

First thing you should do when you arrive is pop off your helmet. I know it is probably a pain but it is better than walking around with it on. Great video and sweet ride!
You should go do a track day or two. It'll help you get a feel for cornering especially having someone coaching you. It would probably be really beneficial to pick up a smaller bike for that too, a lowered gixxer thou is gonna be sketchy on a track and just isn't the best bike to learn on in general if you really wanna learn how to hit some twisties.

Also, if you're going to do a lot of riding on these types of roads, make sure your gear is top notch. You definitely want some better gloves, the damage even a small slide would do to your hands with the gloves you have is like something out of a horror movie!!
Great video work though! I have a lot more experience and can give you riding tips, but you blow me away when it comes to editing!! ;)
The right speed for these runs is the speed that you're comfortable with, no more 👍
That said, counter steering into the corners and don't turn too early, will make it feel a lot easier..
Nice! That's 20 mins from my house. Glad you had fun.
Omg how luck are YOU!
Do you go often?
Cool video Lauryn.
I rode that on my V-Rod a couple of months ago for the first time. fun.
I forgot how good you look without a helmet
Omg even in this video, with all the helmet hair?? Thanks!
@@Lost_Lauryn Yes, love like coffee and milk with you LoL
When I passed through Blood mountain there was a Mustang upside down. There are elderly tourists in cars just trying to get somewhere and sportbikers riding track speeds. There weird part is I saw a LEO about a mile from each end instead of patrolling the road.
I can definitely fall sleep listening to your lovely voice, it's soooo soothing and beautiful. Great ride BTW
…man…that voice. 😍
Definitely do a track day and then a novice race school. You’ll learn so much and gain a ton of confidence.
That GSXR looks sic with the black and blue stripes. My 750 looks like Shamu Gun metal and white
I was trying to figure out where Blood Mountain RD is .. GA I guess. Looks like it's Highway 129 same as Tail of the Dragon. Seems I read that it runs from FL to ME or something like that.
Driven over Blood Mountain many times. My Mom lives in that part of Georgia. It sucks getting behind someone who is super slow.
Dragon’s tail use to ride it years ago. Awesome place.
You're doing some things that should have been corrected in your MSF BRC class. Did you take that? May need a refresher. Would also recommend taking the MSF Advanced Rider Course (ARC). Those are given at the MSF Training Center in Alpharetta.
THANK YOU I LOVE YOU
👍🏼👍🏻❤️
not quite sure its the most dangerous winding road but it is fun for sure being I know of several others that are far more dangerous and winding that are also just as much fun that are fairly close to blood mtn. will say though it got its name for a very valid reason.
Awesome but it’s about time for a trackday! Come on over to Barber 😎
Hey, I know that mountain. Cool!
W0W! "THIS TIME!" ;)
You can Take a motor officers course. Experience comes with riding. Go Get it!
Come ride with Fast Line Track Days! Contact Becky Meyer. She and Chris run one of the best orgs in the south east. Great way to learn on track. We run a great novice session. Enjoy your ride.
Absolutely love this mountain! My buddy and I go every year!
I have driven a 35' motorhome over blood mtn many times and it only dangerous when your going to fast and are careless!!!
Got all the gear on excellent.
For a ride like this?!.. heck I think it’s time to upgrade gear
@Lost_Lauryn cool I have been riding for 40 years and when I was learning a buddy told me to think of my bike as a chainsaw.
The Dragon drinks the Blood from the Mountain
Almost poetic
Loved the Dragon, my brother-in-law is Ken Wheeler, owns Wheeler's Performance in Robbinsville. I spent about 3 months there several years ago.
@ enjoyed watching your Vlogs on Sailing Doodles in Thailand 🙃
Man I’m going to have to go there . That sounds super sweet. I have a 2023 Suzuki GSX S1000 naked bike . And I love fast technical riding. I HAVE THE NEED FOR SPEED. what can I say I’m an adrenaline junkie
I feel the same as you, however I’ve never been on a bike, purchase my first bike 1000cc started riding. Going straight, handling the bike is easy but when in corners I struggle however i do ride better on hot days obviously in my mind i trust the tires more.
I've been right there on the Blood Mountain portion of the Appalachian Trail.
Mate great to see you covered up in the right gear and you do have the skills you didn’t crash well done ride the hard rides at your own pace and you’ll get more confidence, skills, giggles every time goodonya budy cheers
Lauryn, I'm not sure what made me think of this but, if your bike is lowered 4" that puts your seat height at like 29" right? That's lower than my Busa. You really are a shorty aren't ya! 🤣 I wish we had sound for all the noises you were making going up the mountain though. As always, BIG HUGS from Tennessee!❤
Lowered 4”? I thought I heard it wrong ! How tall is she?! I’m 5’1 and want a bigger bike one day
@@anarose623 I think she's like 5'4" or 5" but I'm not sure. I'm guessing off my Busa that sits low at 31".
There's even more better roads than blood. but blood is certainly one of the good ones.
Next time you're on the mountain you need to checkout 180 & 60 but be careful 129 is a piece of cake compare to these two roads.
It’s called counter steering
almost 200k !!!!
did you do the ghost meet ngl I commented this on a short but didn’t know if you’d see it so thought I’d ask here
A lot of good comments Did you check your Tire Pressure
My favorite time of year the beautiful colors thank you for the video l a u r y n you are absolutely the most beautiful woman on the planet. Much love from Virginia❤❤❤
Never riding that road before. If you haven't ridding the tail of dragon before I highly recommend
You have a natural smile, very beautiful
Aw you're so sweet 😊
wow Thate was a verry cool ride !😎
I drove the Alps in Zwitserland (Europe)
Sorry for my writhing I am Dutch but I love to ride
And I smile evry time youre having fun because you lite up the screen😇
I wish you al the happynes in the world🤗
I wish you wonderful bike rides and Beautiful boat trips (sails) whith the sailing doodles
have fun and live life because you wil receive what you give🥰 , so you get a lot of joy in return 😘
Speeding is one thing… I understand them being mad.
But, using the car as a deadly weapon is an extremely serious crime.
Seriously that is some awsome camera angles. What kind of cameras are you using?
I use the insta360 4x!
Check out my Link tree to find it more easily!
@Lost_Lauryn how long does that battery last if you don't mind me asking?
Thank you for taking the time to answer me. I appreciate it 🙏
Push those handlebars into the turn… get the lean going and you will have more fun. 👍👍
Can you post a vlog on what happened between you and Amanda. Really enjoyed the crew vibe on their channel with you on.
First thing you should do when you arrive is pop off your helmet. I know it is probably a pain but it is better than walking around with it on. Great video and sweet ride!
Excellent video, thanks for taking us all along!
Whoever set up your front suspension needs to be questioned. Be safe..
Blood mountain is only as dangerous as you make it. Also a lot of tourist traffic to be aware of.
The curves are fun but my 11 1/2 foot long chopper doesn’t do well. It is a rocket ship in a straight line though.
You should go do a track day or two. It'll help you get a feel for cornering especially having someone coaching you. It would probably be really beneficial to pick up a smaller bike for that too, a lowered gixxer thou is gonna be sketchy on a track and just isn't the best bike to learn on in general if you really wanna learn how to hit some twisties.
at 9:19 .... Not @Lost_Lauryn, joyfully skipping like a happy cartoon character lol 😂
