The amount and quality of variations Svidler discusses from the very openings till the endgames is very impressive. He throws around line after line to the point of exhaustion. It’s like those doctoral lectures on quantum physics: Even if you don’t quite get all the nuances in one or two of the ideas, you go back to them afterwards and it all makes sense. Svidler doesn’t spice his analysis up with references to known chess maxims in certain positions, colourful anecdotes of the past, or other pieces of chess culture. He’s all about calculation and theory. I think he’s the most refined thinker of the day in chess commentary. At least on these online platforms.
Ricardo Galarza nah svidler isn't that bad, he's even food and quite funny IMO. If you wanna hear overkill then listen to Kasparov or Kramnik, they can't stop talking and remember everything about every variation from every game ever played.. lol
Great analysis Peter! i just accidentally clicked on this site and i'm hooked... i'd say wow! will see more of your great insights of chess battles like this two chess genuises of So and Carlsen...
