That was incredible! Great casting Winter. Great intro (much better than the "official" casters), and great commentary throughout. I have grown so accustomed to seeing Serral dominate, especially against Protoss, that I have of late skipped many a Serral (and Reynor) videos. Watching Toss get clobbered over and over again got too depressing. Round one seemed like a miracle. I feel bad for Serral, but I haven't been so happy after a SC2 game in quite a while. Thank you.
Day 8 of asking Winter to finish the 10 year achievements. BTW Winter, did ya know zealots don't (usually) die on the field? They have a recall thingy on their armor that teleports them back to the mothership. Ah! Betcha didn't know that, did ya?? Being a zealot is (most of the time) the safest job in the templar order!
I don't know how to play multiplayer StarCraft so what should Serral have done here? It looked like he needed to do something quickly before Stats got to critical mass?
SPOILERS As a Serral fan, super sad to see him go down like this. But if anything it shows the resilency of Stats and that these guys not only are capable of competing at the highest levels, but also at adapting and trading places. So, I'll keep cheering Serral on and hope that he learns from these games and figures out new strats vs Stats.

70% stats got better, 30% serral got worse. He's tapping out of games that someone of his skill could come back from, we've seen his ability to come back from impossible odds many times before
Serral seems a bit less dominant right now than he's been in the past, but its important to note that this is a tournament finals in a tournament with a ton of great players, which means Serral is still insanely good to make it here. I think the top 10 or so players in the world or so have basically caught up to Serral now, making for incredibly unpredictable tournaments, and making who advances just a matter of who plays better on any particular day. IMO Serral is still the best player in the world, but only because nobody is massively ahead of everyone else. Serral, Dark, Reynor, Stats, Trap, Zest, Maru, TY, and Clem are just all beating each other up right now. Like, Serral is the favorite in any given tournament but his chances of winning a specific tournament might only be like 10-15%, he can't win without playing his very best anymore.
@@redwings13400 Also don't forget that Zerg has been nerfed and Toss got buffed. This isn't a complaint I am a zerg main and I honestly think the balance is in the best spot it ever was in. Rn everybody has a chance. You can never tell which race wins a tourney. It is so exciting now.

Don't forget the part about never losing units while harassing and using 6 different abilities with your end game army and being patient enough to only take favorable engagements but otherwise yeah; just go make an army and kill the other guy.
It kinda all fallen into place for Stats. He did early pressure, that worked. Then good macro behind and then great spellcaster managed attack at proper time. Zoun played good in this tournament, but then forget when to attack and was picked appart by Serral. Zerg looks to need also pressure Toss early on and not just wait and outproduce them.
In my opinion, instead of buffing mech, making BC more practically usable in late game TvP is a better option. We can see almost every units of Zerg and Protoss in pro tournament, while BC seems to quit the tournament. Once BCs come to the stage, we can see more tempests as well.
@GlowyBoi That's the problem. They have to figure out a way that makes BC bad in early and good for late game, for example, adding a late game research that can accelerate the production speed of BC.

Even assuming that this was Serral's C game and Stats' A game where he usually only manages to pull his second-rate skills, this level of massacre should not have been even remotely possible. If Protoss plays even just decently well, the game goes from fairly balanced to a struggle for Zerg. And if a Protoss player pulls off an exemplary game, like Stats did here, the supposed best player (so long as it's not against Zerg) in the whole world looks like a bumbling silver leaguer in a masters fight.
@@herenowatthemoment The thing is, aside from the first game, where Serral woefully misread Stats' plan, Serral didn't really make any mistakes through the games either. So while Stats was playing excellent, Serral didn't look half bad himself either; Yet the game looked like an absolute massacre. I used to occasionally make the point that the reason why Protoss isn't an absolutely dominant race in tournaments is mostly because most of the Protoss players tend to be lazy or sloppy with their playstyle, favouring janky builds over solid ones, and Stats may have just vindicated that here. Granted, it's also possible that this is simply most players having found the weaker spots of Zerg and the ways to really exploit it. Still, for now, I'll still call for Adepts to get massive damage nerfs (in exchange for more survivability instead), as that alone would make a lot of matchups more interesting (PvP primarily).

That is to say, the sort of display that could be held up as the way to play the game. It's also quite obvios that Serral wasn't exactly struggling. He was just plain and simply dominated here.
OzixiThrill Why would less damage and more survivability change anything in PvP? They'd need like 100 shields and 150 hp to be worth it instead of a stalker, which will actually deal damage
