  • Starting to screw this 223 together. This engine, like building any stroker, it takes time and patience. If you have any questions about the build, email me at Help@OMBWarehouse.com and put “Gray Goat” in the subject line

    If you spin the bolts into the aluminum case fast the threads will fall apart and come out. I wish I would have heard your comment about not using power tools to assemble. I found out the expensive way that cast aluminum will not take the abuse that the steel Chevy blocks that I was taught to assemble engines on. I was always very carefully using my 3/8 impact and never cross threaded or even let the gun impact but just the speed would cause the threads to start falling apart. It pays to listen to the Greygoat.

    Where. Am I locate one of these straight edges you used with this build? I’ve looked and can only find large ones. I appreciate your help!

    I'm doing about the same build but with stock piston and EC + .050" rod. What cam did you use to not have to put pockets in piston please? also what did you end up cutting head?

    • @TheGrayGoatGarage
      @TheGrayGoatGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the CM grind cam...also known as the HOT 265 or Super X cam www.ombwarehouse.com/super-x-dyno-cam.html
      You need to check the valve to piston clearance with any cam going into this engine. I got greedy and milled the head .060" and wound up having to use a piston with eyebrows cut into it. All of these engines have different tolerances. You have to make sure all of the clearances with your parts will work for you. Each engine must be built individually! I was using the +.020" rod and the taller .570 piston.

      Thank you sir. Your help will have me buying more parts from you. My gut tells me that's the same cam that comes in the Tillotson 225rs. Thinking of a Black Momba for mine

      If the block your using is a Hemi predator then yes it will fit but you will need a flywheel and rod from a gx200 or a Ducar motor

    Wondering why you didn't remove the " ninja star " ?

    • @TheGrayGoatGarage
      @TheGrayGoatGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am conflicted with the ninja star...and real life ninjas!
      It serves no purpose, but if it helps sling more oil then maybe it is not a bad thing to have there. Due to its placement, it may help get more oil mist to the top of the engine.
      I have no empirical data and no real way to test that...but in theory, maybe it is best to leave those on! I dunno!

    I’m building a similar performance build 223cc hemi electric start … I’m using the new high compression ec carb forged piston rod 5.583 and I’m wondering would the tillotson electric start billet flywheel fit this motor it’s an arc 6679 part number fits gx200 196cc clone tillotson electric start billet flywheel last piece of the puzzle to figure out

    • @TheGrayGoatGarage
      @TheGrayGoatGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The 6679 will fit the crank but you need to make sure it clears the block. ARC made some changes to that flywheel to clear Tillotson blocks, but you still need to check it

      @TheGrayGoatGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Send me an email at help@ombwarehouse.com. This engine went to a racer we support. He has yet to have this much power! The most important and time consuming part of this build is porting the head. The runners are narrow and a lot of room for improvement. A lot if material was removed!
