You should be getting a portion of all hardware sales. The amount of money most of us will dump into hardware capable of running this beast (in full graphic glory) is most assuredly absurd. Great job and holy beautiful.
I'm 30 seconds in, and holy shit Wags... You guys at Eagle Dynamics have seriously out done yourself. You have made the greatest flight simulator ever. Ever. Give yourselves a hand, seriously. If you're ever in Oregon, I will buy you all the drinks
Excellent lecture! Just one word on the terminology: The HUD shows the *bank* angle, not *role* angle. You can *bank* at a constant angle. But when you are rolling, you are changing your bank angle. Bank angle is of course given in degrees. Role rate however would be in "deg/sec".
Same, here mate watched the first part about 3 times. The terrain mesh, the lighting, that haze in the valleys looks amazing, I was so distracted by them I could not focus on the HUD he was explaining... :D
the 1st part of the vid i had to watch like 3 times because i was so distracted by the terrain mesh, the lighting and that haze in the valleys. Looks stunning. :)
I can’t wait for this, it looks incredible. Dcs 2.5 is goona be awesome the single best new effect that takes it to a new level is that deferred shading. Dcs looks photo realistic and blows away those arcadey sims like ace combat which is crazy as ace combat is a fraction the size of the nttr Normandy and caucuses.
Haha i wish it were a job :) the Hornet is my all time favorite jet, so i won't be complaining if it means i get to spend more time flying it and less time making tutorials :P (although i'l certainly make some videos on the hornet in some fashion when it comes out.)
Well, beside me lay my expectations, on the floor, dead.. You killed and stomped all over them. This thing looks more incredible every time I see a new video.
this bird's learning curve becomes a lot less threatening once you realize half the knobs are for brightness lol.. in all seriousness, looks so good, can't wait for this.
Hi Matt, I'm looking forward to get my hands on the Hornet. But first I need some help. Got a X-56 althout I can't find a device profile for DCS anywhere. Tried forums in DCS, Saitek, Steam don't see .lua files. Could you please give me some advise on where to look for? You'll do my month. Sorry for the offtopic but I'm desperated.
Hey Matt quick question! In most pictures/videos ive seen of Hornet cockpits IFEI is always a reddish/purple color... is this for different lots of hornets? is the green associated with the LOT 20? or can the color be changed based in day/night settings? Thanks!
The IFEI color depends on the internal lighting Mode switch. Green when set to NITE or NVG or orange when when set to DAY. Additionally, the IFEI brightness knob is only functional for NITE mode.
I'm sorry I know you're busy right now , but I was just wondering when are you going to release the next video of the awesome F/A18c Carrier ops such as launching and trapping . Thank You for your time and patience
DCS F-18 will be extremely realistic IMO, I think they may get some friction with the Navy for being too realistic, lol.. They even got the HUD refresh rate almost exactly the same as from the RL HUD videos. When Wags went on afterburner in one of the videos, it sounded a lot like it does in all those GoPro videos online, I'm so happy they finally nailed it, and let alone the fact they simulated the muffed effect from the pilot's helmet & earplugs along with the mic "buzz"!!1
I am 49 years old I live in Rio de Janeiro Brazil I have been born several simulators like fa18 3.0 and the korea god and witness at that moment me pinch I'm going to fly really this fantastic airplane fa18hornet parabens to all DCS team for accomplishing this dream of boy
like the video but is there anywhere where I can find more details as far as the explanation on things mean, I have no flying experience, so when you just say this controls your IFF, TNC, ILS... etc... I am lost hahaha.
Hi Waggs! I have been religiously following these videos! Really impressive! I'm a Canadian former texture and visual effects artist and would really like to volunteer to work on an official Canadian version of the F-18. Is that something that ED would be interested in?
When it is clean, it can reach mach 1.8 this is much slower than the other playable supersonic fighter of DCS ( all can reach mach 2.2+ ), except the very basic F-5 and the incoming JF-17.
Most of the 4th gen jets (F16, F15, M2000, Flanker) can run her down but it is extremely maneuverable and agile for a non-thrust vectored plane. Its a lethal dogfighter.
I would expect several months to several years after the early access version is available to everyone. Why are you using Steam for DCS if you want to play it as early as possible?
He was specifically asking about the Steam version. That forum post just says: "It will release on Steam once we have a build we feel offers a quality experience." I would expect that to mean at least 6 month to a year after the early access is released.
Cheers Matt I knew I had seen it somewhere. looking forward to this as it just makes sense. Have pretty much every module and terrain and followed DCS since early lock on series , This will just make this Sim into a completely new threat to all other flight sims. As an ex tech on the old FA-18C this one especially comes with the most anticipation . All the best for 2018
Today we are happy to announce that DCS World 2.1.1 and associated DLC content are available on Steam. In order to install DCS World 2.1.1, please select to install the openalpha version from your Steam Library / Properties / BETAS window. From the “select the beta you would like to opt into:” drop down, please select the openalpha - Public alpha versions (2.x).
yoyoyoyoshua Well, I started dcs few days ago. Bought Thrustmater Hotas Warthog, Nevada dlc and Falming Cliffs 3 to have a planes. Waiting for Hornet. I was like a noob when flying on monitor. Today, I used Oculus Rift and its amazing. Now the dogfights are easier. And better. Easy way to shoot down 4 MiG27 with my F15 on guns only. Now I know where I am looking, where is enemy and where my plane is heading. Flying with VR is much much better.
mtcougar ....I agree it is way easier to fly with the VR headset to me. You have a better sense of where you are in the sky in relation to other planes and objects. Plus the immersion factor is off the charts... I actually feel like I'm sitting in a plane using VR compared to using a monitor... I understand it's not for everyone though.
Well, using a good rig and the HTC Vive gave me a blast. First time i hop´ed into the Cokpit i wanted to punch the dials and knobs until i realized that i wasnt in a Cockpit. Next thing was take off, i had that gut feeling one has when a plane takes off. It was so nice to fly and be able to look around. Before the Vive i used TrackIR, was cool too, but not coming close. As far as it goes for dogfight. Yeah its a bit harder to see a enemy plane in the far distance, but when youre on his six u can follow him much easier because of the free head-movement and body bending. So for me VR and HOTAS is awesome. Now we need a glove that kinda emulates the mouse and has a button on the top of the index finger. If you move your hand around it moves the mouse cursor. And when your on top of the switch u wanna use u are going to click the button on top of the index finger to activate the switch. Something like that. :D
Can't wait!
ralfidude hi ralfi
Agreed, it'll be glorious! :)
how was it

Had to watch this twice. First time I was just staring at the scenery.
Can't wait for 2.5 or the Hornet
Nice work gents
Same, here mate watched the first part about 3 times. The terrain mesh, the lighting, that haze in the valleys looks amazing, I was so distracted by them I could not focus on the HUD he was explaining... :D
I'm so glad that Belsimtek is involved in this. All their products for DCS are simply excellent!
The Hornet and the new Caucasus map is simply a work of art. So sick, glad I per-ordered!
It's not like we're gunna miss out if we don't pre order! :)
If you don't pre-order you will miss out on the savings. Paying full price is cool too though.
Haha, point taken!
I know, it´s about Hornet, but OMG that terrain! Beautiful! And I really like that dusty canopy effect.
the 1st part of the vid i had to watch like 3 times because i was so distracted by the terrain mesh, the lighting and that haze in the valleys. Looks stunning. :)
Never been so excited for something in my life! Would love to see a carrier operations tutorial! Keep it up Matt!
Just take my money already. This is beautiful. You all keep up the great work.
they already took my money, they just need to deliver them goods now =P
Already preordered! Been waiting for this one!

Hey we don't play ace combat for the realism
I bought this module without hesitation. I cannot wait to get my hands on it when it's released!!!
Coming together nicely Can't wait.
RedKite doing you out of a job with his tutorials 😉
Haha i wish it were a job :) the Hornet is my all time favorite jet, so i won't be complaining if it means i get to spend more time flying it and less time making tutorials :P (although i'l certainly make some videos on the hornet in some fashion when it comes out.)

Great job you’ve been so diligent with your work we all appreciate it so much thank you
Such a dope cockpit, thanks a lot Matt

good job ed! Thanx Wags.

Thanks, Matt.
i love this plane and special when its flying over the updated caucasus so as at the start of this vid
Peter Bakker hey how do you get that updated Caucasus?
Pretty obvious by now that the F/A-18C is going to be special even by the normally high standards of ED modules. Can't wait to get to grips with this!
Haven't pre-ordered yet but will do so soon. Thanks Matt!
Thanks for this Wags!
VCVW-11 Can't wait to get our hands on this.
I can not wait for this aircraft to be downloadable because I can not wait to fly with it, and I'm sure it's worth it.
Do at best gentlemen!
Fantastic Wags!
Thanks for your video.
How are decimals introduced in the ufc?
Example 113.56. That point symbol ... how is it introduced?
cant wait to fly this amazing F18
Wags. Good vid! I did get a chuckle at the start. Landing is an advanced function:)
Landing at night in bad weather or carrier... certainly.
Matt Wagner That's true.
Very nice landscape. Nice work.
NIce video. I needed it.
hi , newbie here, what,s the BIngo in the IFEI setting for ?
just got my VR to get back into DCS. That is why I stopped playing the TrackIR just wasnt good enough. CANT wait keep up the work

which video card you are using?
Great module. But where are we on an f-16
Probably more than 5 years away.
Will there be a F/A-18D version as well? Could be realy cool with the multiple crew feature...
Thanks. Now I know how to set my Hornet on time. No more blinking 00:00 for me.
what PC hardware are you using on the RIG in these demo videos?

Great video Matt, when are the other episodes coming out?
how close is the DCS F-18C Simulated compared to the real one, can this even be estimated? I´m just curious

The A-10C is extremely close to the real thing, and this is supposed to be even deeper and more realistic.
Probably upwards of 95%, if the A-10C is anything to go by.

@Matt Wagner. I noticed that there is a typo in your video title in the word Episode, there is an extra i that managed to sneak in there.
Holy crap, how large is the manual going to be? The study time to learn all of this is going to be phenomenal LOL
I'm guessing at least as big as the A-10C manual, 600+ pages
The natops manual on the internet is 900+ pages so I expect the dcs version to be as long or longer.
Guess I'll just wait for Crash to 1 minute it
The Raging Gamer same
How long will the pre purchase last?

No, Track IR
What is the top speed of the Hornet?
Son of THE King fast
When it is clean, it can reach mach 1.8

I forgot gow much that plane costs. 200 or someting?
Any clue yet when it will be available on Steam? Can't wait to get my hand on it!

how do i run this game that smooth?
a good computer

I've heard your voice somewhere, an ad I think.

Anyone else find it difficult to focus on the instructions?
ahadicow ....not really. Too fast perhaps a bit to fully absorb but not bad
lucky you. I can't stay focused for 5 secs before gawking at some details either in cockpit or scenery.
Wow ED, you have truly outdown yourselves with the hornet!! Is there going to be a daylight savings feature too? jk
release date?
