I happened to see Nova supporting Steve Hillage at The Southend Kursal, UK in the late 70s. That was one of the best gigs I ever saw - both Nova and Hillage were awesome. I immediately bought Vimana and used to listen to it a lot - amazing album. That was with Narrada Michael Warden on drums, who did a fab job - but what a treat to see Steve Smith performing the album here. The original had a very cool sax player too, I remember live he sometimes played with two saxes in his mouth!
I've been his fan since his NOVA days well he is one among the wolf pack of the greatest guitar warewolf ❤️ and respect to this Italian guitar maestro ❤️ 👍👍👍👍👍
DIRECT quote of Mr John McL at 04:59 including that same synth sound, which is about the sickest I ever heard... Corrado of course kills with it - must say i did not expect ever to hear it again, but multiple Mahavishnu live tapes include JM empioying it on stage. Crazily, I might add.. I think it was called 360 Systems. Anyway bravo to this serious Neapolitan virtuoso player & composer
Amazing guitarist, i met corrado rustici & narada michael walden in san francisso 1983, nova were a great band, i wish there was a concert of them, does anyone have one?????
Too bad Nova never really caught on in a big way. Rustici was certainly one of the best guitarists of the fusion era. I always (and still do) liked them.
Ric Parnell, drummer with Nova mk2 died on 2nd May, aged 70, at his adoptive home in Montana. He didn’t play on Vimana but was influential on Nova’s 3rd album ‘Wings of Love.’
Oh !!!!!!!Vimana was released in Chile by some reason I still do not understand since very little music like it was ever released on record here. Became a fan instantly and I felt it had some sound proximity with Jan Hammer's First Seven Days. Those were the great of discovery while still in school. Thanks Corrado Rustici. I could gladly play Nova on radio a lot in the 80's and 90's.
I had the pleasure of seeing the original line up way back in the late 1970's supporting Nucleus- I have to be honest I much preferred Nova! Bought Vimana straight after the gig (on vinyl of course) been one of my all time favourite albums ever since. Thanks for uploading this & its heartwarming to see them still playing & so brilliantly too!
The original lineup were touring as a support for Caravan in I think 1977, However, when I went to the gig, in Plymouth, I found out that the Plymouth gig wasn't on their list citing it being too far from London. I was disappointed. By that time, Caravan were not as good as their "In the Land of Grey and Pink" days, and they didn't play "Nine Feet Underground" a double whammy....
And Peter picking up the slack for the one and only Percy Jones (fretless bass) and Steve Smith performing so amazingly in the pocket throughout! Wow! What a song--what a performance!
Hi Corrado, nice to hear from you from Wings of Love!!! I lstill ove Nova music and that album. Tks for that guitar demo (what incredible sounds you get) and for giving me the chance to wacth Steve on drums again, one of my fave drummers ever.
sul melodico....sei imbattibile ❤
Steve Smith is amazing
Probably the best Italian guitarist. Great technique, taste and creative intelligence. I am proud of being Italian!
YES!
🎸🎸🎸🎸
- Marco Sfogli
- Bicio Leo
- Matteo Mancuso
- Andrea Braido
- Daniele Gottardo
Then you have for example Joe Pass, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Al di Meola...:))
Niente a che vedere con Matteo, ovviamente...

Little nod to the Fusion of the 70s
A great song from one of my favorite J-R fusion albums of all-time! Nice to see Corrado keep this one in his stage repertoire! What a guitarist!
And Peter picking up the slack for the one and only Percy Jones (fretless bass) and Steve Smith performing so amazingly in the pocket throughout! Wow! What a song--what a performance!
