A better tactical response would have been for him to immediately close the distance between himself and the shooter and engage/neutralize the shooter first instead of looking for cover & concealment before engaging. Speed to engage an attacker is the best defensive weapon for stopping a threat if one has the skill set/tools to do so.

No you can’t teach bravery and courage but you sure can hire it or fire it for lack thereof. Edit: wow I wasn’t expecting this much attention from this comment. Of course what I said goes much deeper than a simple one-liner. I believe that police officers like the Uvalde ones are just simply hired because of their immaculate records and the passing of a polygraph. I believe that there are way too many cops that are hired because they want that badge and that gun as an ego boost and pride boost. I believe that a huge problem with our police force is people who are hired who do not truly believe that they are there to serve and protect. I enjoy the opportunity to use this comment now as a catalyst to express these words. We now live in a society that has evolved to a point that better screening processes need to be performed to determine whether a person is just there for their ego or is there to serve and protect.
Sucks that with all those 150 maybe more officers in Uvalde…none were this brave & did their jobs right. Except for obviously the later ones that came in from border control & did what all those other sitting ducks never did.

actually the only reason he is still alive is that she fired in the air instead of at him. No idea why she did that, but it was the reason for her being the one on the floor and not him.
I keep thinking back about the recent shooting where a good guy with a gun took down the shooter in less than 15 seconds. If you see somebody holding a gun then you take out the threat as fast as possible. This is a problem when there are both good guys and bad guys with guns.

It's also entirely possible that the woman had a recent injury or surgery and normally isn't in a wheelchair. Maybe the other woman wasn't used to her being partially immobilized so subconsciously her first instinct was to just run and the woman would be able to do the same. But it could have gone the other way and she thought "F this. We're way too close to the shooter and I'm in front of the wheelchair." People just do what they do when they are part of a stressful event like this and unfortunately sometimes face an undesired outcome after the fact. Luckily it ended up being the best case scenario given the circumstances.

He did well, but technically (now don’t get upset), he could have responded better. Most law enforcement agencies teach their officers to find cover when gunshots occur. A better tactical response would have been for him to immediately close the distance between himself and the shooter and engage/neutralize the shooter first instead of looking for cover & concealment before engaging.

This officer and all other officers involved done a great job! Thank you for protecting the citizens!
Yeah they did a great job.

Cop was on his game. From the looks of it he was even starring at the suspect because he noticed how off she potentially was. Great foot work.
PLEASE PROMOTE THIS OFFICER! This is how to respond to an active shooter. A TRUE HERO!!!!
First time I ever seen a cop actually do there job and prevent mass shooting. Good job, you saved about 1000 people
What an amazing officer. He didn't hesitate, just did what had to be done. Saved lives!
Saved lives? She did not come there to kill people. People who start killing people do not shoot in the roof after seeing a police. Are people really this stupid that they believe she was trying to do some massmurder..
That tends to be their job....wtf
@@Urm0mz yeah, and let me gues! Your're the cook...

Proud of you dpd, Texas police response has been questioned as of late. This is courage, honor, and a great example of what policing should be. What an intuitive and amazing officer. Deserves all the praise in the world, easily saved over 20 people within 10 seconds. Amazing job officer. True hero
You're referring to Uvalde, mainly, right?
Yeah. Questioned by idiots who blame police instead of the child killer.
I can only guess, but I suspect this officer was fully aware of the Ulvalde debacle, and had thought hard about being in a similar situation, what he would do. As such, he was mentally prepared for this situation when it unfolded right in front of him.
@@broombromden498 Yikes. So, you don't have kids.
Yes, if the same officers in this video was at uvalde. He would have done the same thing. Aiming to disarming the suspect by using a gun. Not the other 3 get a flesh wound and retreat. Call for back up. Waiting an hour for border patrol SWAT team from 70 mile away at the border patrol checkpoint.
Too bad that officer was not at Uvalde. He acted quickly and decisively.
I think, however, this was an attempted suicide by cop.
Exactly but unfortunately it didn’t work
he should have accommodated her
Yup
Now it's just a trip to the pen!

True hero in stopping what could have been so much worse. So thankful no one else was hurt.
I understand everyone must have been absolutely terrified during this situation but I'm also so pleased the person in the wheelchair managed to get away from the area safely. Thank goodness for the trained and brave people who unfortunately have to handle these situations. Respect 🙏❤️
Ya bc the cop told him and everyone to run. Hes a hero
Yeh, miraculous how they jumped up and ran. The Good Lord works in mysterious ways lmfao 🤣
Yeah I thought it was funny that the person they were with straight abandoned them, so good thing they weren't completely paralyzed and managed to get up and run.
I don’t see a wheelchair?

Tbh, most people without bags at the airport are sketchy. I know this because I traveled on an airplane with no bags recently and I felt like I was literally the only one in a huge airport.
That is what a hero looks like, put his life on the line to protect others and NEVER hesitated. Thank you!

Crazy? No, rather evil.
That guy was a really good shot.
It’s look like the cop shot the screen at 7:17. You need to have more control over your shots. Especially with all those kids around. But other than that, he did well.

Looks like she was scanning the area and when she saw the cop she decided to pull out the gun. An attempt at Suicide By Cop, as others have pointed out.
it almost seemed like some terrorist bs
But why an airport fill with people !?!?!
@@TOMASHDZ2110 Normally a lot of armed police and security?...
na she didnt even notice the cop
@@jordanfelts7482 why don't go to police station or call the cops, I mean they deliver plenty of them right away
I commend the officer that reacted so quickly. The exact opposite of the Uvalde crisis. I’ll admit, there was a responding officer already on site; but watching that many armed forces stand around while a school is under attack versus this one man acting accordingly … it shows you that training varies from place to place. This shouldn’t be the case, but it is.
Uvalde's on-site security was not on site, and this location was, no doubt, picked for being a gun-free zone not thinking about the security.
Yeah, how the cops there handled that situation was HORRIBLE.And the parents of those kids killed have to live with the results of an ineffective and cowardly police force there in Uvalde.
I agree.. Uvalde just will forever be an example of what NOT to do. Shame on them

This lady has watched too many movies if she thinks that she isn't getting shot in seconds after doing what she did. The cop was using his intuition and found erratic behavior that most would not find suspicious. Give this cop a raise.
I honestly think her goal was to die. She Never aimed at anyone. Basically suicide by cop
That was pretty clearly her goal. If she wanted to shoot people, she’d probably shot people
shes prolly suicidal. looks like she didnt want to shoot anybody

Wearing hoodies indoor in a Airport, in the middle of the summer during the day, and pacing back and forth with hands in the sweater pocket should be an early warning sign.

@@GingerRaab I think it was necessary to take those shots even if he didn't have a clear shot, at the very least it puts the shooter in defense mode instead of attack mode now instead of thinking she is on top of the world she now is seeking coverage from being shot, this could be the difference between life and death for someone. Also He was just as shocked as everyone else at the sound of the gun and the immediate response is to seek cover specially if you don't know where the shots are coming from. you cant be much help if you run out in front of a bullet, seeking cover is the first reasonable response. once you have cover then you can start to process the situation and your training instincts kick in.
