The biggest reason I'm glad to know about White Sand pros is because it means there will be an audiobook and as a legally blind person that makes me happy.
Hey guys! It was great getting to meet you all briefly. And it was enjoyable talking with you Argent, I was the guy on line for the world hopper ball on the last night. 😂
Great to meet some of you at Nexus and the ball!! My chull got investigated by TSA… then Canadian customs wouldn’t let it through so I had to ship it to myself at security 🤣🤣
I am so surprised at how much I'm enjoying the bells this year, compared with last year where I was staunchly anti bell. My small joyspren grew three sizes!
Loved getting to meet so many of you at the convention. At the booth and Evgeni in the card trading line. I definitely loved geeking out about Diceborn and seeing sneak peeks of Royce and Luka art. My con thoughts: I think the story deck definitely works best as a con game. And it worked out for me that my spouse wanted to spend a lot of time working on it while I went to panels and things I wanted to check out. So getting one complete set of the main stories between the two of us worked out. Except those last 3 heralds. But that art is in the books so I’m not too crushed. I agree that maybe in the future keeping it more art focused may be better so there isn’t as much fomo about canon stories. I’d be fine seeing something like this again at future conventions. The Worldhopper Ball was phenomenal. I’m so glad we had the chance to go. I hoped it would be worth what we paid for tickets and my expectations were absolutely exceeded. Absolutely will try to go to future ones if I can.
I spoke with John D Clair at Nexus for probably 20 minutes. For those who don’t know, he has designed several really good games (and did the Mistborn Deck Building Game). I am very happy to have him working with Brotherwise and Dragonsteel. Super great guy and fan. He said he is designing a Stormlight Shattered Plains big game, which should be pretty cool. After that he had a few ideas, but nothing concrete yet.
The issue i had with the mugs was that a) i bought that pack for the mug, without it i probably wouldn't have but that is what it is, b) the bigger issue is living in Australia, shipping was significantly higher with a mug than just clothing, and while the mug got refunded none of the shipping did which i thought was a bit average. Oh, and had no idea the trading card stories were Roshar/canon. Thought the idea of trading to complete for an at event thing was cool (and assumed just cool art stuff), and an opportunity for people who didn't go with others to do something to help engaging, but yeah i'll definitely have to find how to get a hold on the stories (the bit i care about) somehow haha. In regards to screens and immersion i reckon there'd be some way of bordering a projector or something, small smoke machine, whatever, to make it look like a lightweaving. And then the dice....i backed highest level plus addons for the rpg, was alpha testing, super bummed they've done radiant order dice at nexus, after the kickstarter, that wasn't actually part of the kickstarter (and i had ordered extra dice). Seems super weird to me.
“Stormlight on ice”. At first I was horrified because I thought you were telling me that Brandon is wasting time creating a version of SA on ice skates 😂
Fun trading card story: I drew a holographic Herald 9 before knowing about the rarity issue. I managed to trade it for a regular 9 and a 3, and am now only missing Herald 8. (Which is fitting, because Taln)
Not having an explanation of the story deck wasn’t a great idea, in my opinion. I didn’t realize the “nonsense” cards weren’t canon until midway through the second day and had to retrade for cards I had given away. I was able to complete the stories only because I had three friends who didn’t care and gave me all of their cards and passport stamps to use as bargaining power. Finally found the last card as I was walking to the doors to head home. It was a big time suck and to get the stories completed I had to skip a few panels to go and bug vendors for stamps, which just became annoying.
I’ll also say, as someone who was trying to get books signed by Howard Lyon and Steve Argylle, or buy art from vendors, it was really annoying to have to talk with them through a line of people shoving a passport in their faces asking for a stamp.
I don't mind the idea of the card game, but it would be nice if they sold two different sets. A set guaranteed to get you all the cards but no holos or other special cards and a set that was random but could get the special cards.
Eh... I did find the beginning of the prose to be excellent, but when it hit Lossand, it just ground to a halt. I feel like it needs a considerable revision to be a 2020s era Brandon revision. If you're curious about White Sand thoughts, we have several Shardcasts on this. I am often told these are the funniest 'casts we have made: th-cam.com/video/L59oE3-IMTA/w-d-xo.html&pp=gAQB -Eric
@ I was starting to think I had read some high level fanfic because no one mentions the prose, except to say he’s gonna write it. So did I read like the prime version?
@flyingmalkie4346 either you read the prime version, or the portion of white sand prose included in Arcanum Unbounded collection (which covers a small portion of the story)
44:15 as someone from Sugar Land Texas, Lux needs a serious case of reality editing because you can tell that the person who wrote the book had never looked into Sugar land, Texas other than seeing the name on a map
I still reeeedally like white sand though ....... Not as good as his other works, but it has a special place in my heart ... Then again I never read the graphic novels. Instead I did the graphic audio versions lol!
It'll be back, I just cannot do it live because I'm not that good at production. And the WaT reactions episodes got way too long. We have recorded a normal topic episode for the 29th and it has some WTCC. -Eric
tbh i do think it's gross that they prioritized light day shipping over WOR Leatherbound fulfilment. As someone who spent over $350 for a product that was promised in the fall, I can't help but notice that it is not only winter, but also that people who ordered things less than a month ago are currently getting their products... I'm sorry but this fact is completely unacceptable. For context: I bought the WoR leatherbound as a Christmas gift for someone I love, but now, I have to scramble to find something else(and SPEND HUNDREDS OF EXTRA DOLLARS), for no other reason than that people who paid less money than me, who paid for their gifts over a year after I did, got their stuff prioritized over my order. I'm sorry, but that's awful, AWFUL customer service.
Yeah no need to spend hundreds more also bear in mind this is a small(ish) business not Amazon. I also ordered the $350 tier and was happy to wait for as long as it took. They had delays that meant the Kickstarter was delayed and so I'm sure in their ideal world they would have had the vast majority if not all of the Kickstarter shipping done.
@@jamesbirkett8364That's cool, man. I wouldn't have had any problem if the reason for my delay was an actual delay in the processing of the WoR leatherbound production process, but that wasn't the case. They prioritized Light Day shipping over WoR Leatherbounds. I'm glad you're willing to wait, but I'm not even asking for my product to come in on time, it's already been late for months, all I wanted was for it to come in time for Christmas. That is *not* too much to ask from a company I sent ~$350 to.

"I hear what you're saying. And, unfortunately, what you're saying is wrong."
I've missed Evgeni on these.
The amount of passion invoked in the panelists by White Sand never ceases to entertain.
It's a classic -Eric

This is how we really know Autonomy is working with Odium
If you're wondering, I specifically tell Evgeni to do the bells. Gotta get that engagement in the comments! -Eric
Never change, long live the bells! 😂

The bells sleigh.
I love Weiry and Argent together on the same podcast with Chaos moderating. The “call it how I see it” energy is so entertaining. Ya’ll are the best

Out of everything stated here, I loved your description of the actors! I wish I had been there!
Can't help but smile at the bells. Thanks!
I'm here for the bells.
Also for your take on the state of the sanderson but mostly for the bells.
Bell engagement
I'm not expecting anything less from Argent's intro from now on 😂
Thank you for your service and sacrifice
Looking forward to getting my hands on the RPG book and starting my first dive into playing a TTRPG.
White sand graphic audio…. Was amazing to me
For the record: Scadrial has coal mines. Spook met coal miners in Era 1. Hence it kind of has a fossil record.

Wit relating to the shy person made my heart grow three sizes.

So CosmereCoin will not be happening; but ThaidaKoin is a go! And you can still pick up your Bored Hoid NFTs if you hurry.
2:10:00 did they not have a womans food menu of sweets and jams?
They just had four options, two curries, two chouta. The curries had a spicy option and a sweet option, but people said both were spicy. -Eric
I've played the Mistborn deck builder! Pretty fun so far.
Ive read white sand in book form and it was good, whats the deal?
Eh... I did find the beginning of the prose to be excellent, but when it hit Lossand, it just ground to a halt. I feel like it needs a considerable revision to be a 2020s era Brandon revision.

@@deathfuzz must be prime, but i found it likeable at least, though i assume that means any lore is to be taken with a pinch of salt
Eric's mini meltdown over pant sizes hits close to home. How can a measurement be so varied

Graphic audio white sands is good
i am excited for the Beach party themed Nexus for white sand
God, I would be so down for a beach con
HOT👏 BOY👏 ROYCE👏 ART👏
My daughters named my plushie chull, Plopo
I haven't read white sand yet since I don't read graphic novels.
Am I the only one who misses Who's That Cosmere Character?

Hey... i couldn't with the bells.
but it's so soothing.it's like a wind chime
It's fine for a few mins to be festive. But when its the whole episode. It gets super distracting imo
He took them off midway through, by the way. -Eric

(No Chance in hell I'm purchasing the Wheel of time leatherbounds, if this is how they treat paying customers.)
You could always just print off a picture and say “check this out, it is coming.” Still a great and thoughtful gift to give someone.
