- 'Nitakukatakata na nikuweke kwa fridge!' Those words still ring in my mind. They were from a man who once loved me and married me. But as time went by, our marriage became a source of indescribable pain. He would beat me on daily basis. I persevered for 12 years. But the day he said those words, it hit differently..my then 10 year son was so depressed that he was admitted in hospital. One day I watched him as the doctors tried to inject him. I knew if I didn't leave that marriage, I was soon going to be dead, killed, another statistic. After my son was discharged, I packed and left. Its now over six years and i will never look back! This is my story

Kudos Gladys for taking such a brave step,, this is un imaginable coz i know your ex husband ,, he was employed at our farm for close to 10yrs then got promoted to be our shop attendant at OJ… my mum n dad would be shocked to hear that he turned out to be a different person ,,them having taken him in from when he was a very young boy , we used to be disciplined together if we made any mistakes .. surprising i met him at one of the hotels along Kiambu road and we interacted very well in 2014-2015 and he made us go to that hotel for so long coz he was one of the best attendants till he left 😢😢…. Stay strong and am really happy for you..

But I’m analogue, so there was nothing like walking out in my time.Nilivumilia for 18 yrs with 3 kids, nikajaribu kuenda transfer niondokee mbaara, juu I was a civil servant, lakini alikuwa anakuja wherever I went. Violence was too much. Mimi nikatafuta passport, nikatafuta visa, nikatorokea US instead of death. But I regret my 18 yrs went to trash. I left 24 yrs ago. Ladies, if you get certain red flags, don’t waste your time. Take off. I’m who I’m because I left that violence. Kuongea ama kuendanisha nyumbani na male coworkers warranted a whole nights beating- ta ndarama. Keep up lady. You’ll be just fine.

My dad also was a narcissist,womanizer ed a violent to everyone from my mommy upto children,my mom got ulcers since I was 10 yrs upto date,I have that violence trauma till today if I hear commotion from a family my heart beats 180 rates ed shaking..it’s awful experience 😢
