In the early 1990s, I got interested in these cameras and added several to my collection, including a 35-W. The cameras are very well designed and built, being somewhat heavier than you'd expect from their size. All of the lenses are reported to be excellent, however I've never tested mine. I'd have no concern taking one off the shelf to go shooting. In its day, late 1950s, the 35mm 2.0 was a fairly unusual lens, particularly for a fix lens model.

I have this camera but it has a 4.2cm f1.7 (7 element) G. Zuiko Lens. Also it has a Golden S on the upper right corner right beside the RF window.

Thanks for this interesting introduction to the 35-S. Indeed these 50's era 'Olys' are very interesting, and very capable cameras. IMHO Zuiko lenses rival the best lenses from that era.
I own a 35-SP model with a 1:17, 42 mm G Zuiko lens. I no longer envy Leica owners. That may seem an extreme statement, but I have photographs to prove it! Cheers from Sendai!

I enjoy your videos and I have actually bought cameras from you twice in the past. I have one observation/suggestion regarding your videos. You show us a lot of rangefinder cameras, and point out almost all of the features, but rarely tell us very much about the viewfinder and rangefinder.
For example, what's the magnification of the VF? What's the effective baselength of the RF? Perhaps you don't have the exact numbers, but someone as experienced as you are can tell us if the baselength feels particularly long or the magnification high, for example. Further, is the VF bright? How big and what shape is the RF focussing patch? Is the patch typically bright or dim? Are the edges of the patch sharp like a Leica or fuzzy? Does the VF have frame lines, and is there parallax correction? All of the above are, to me, among the most important aspects of rangefinder camera.
Taking the Olympus 35-S as an example, I pretty much take it as given that the Zuiko lens is excellent, and I can see that the camera has a frame line illumination window, and the RF window looks to be relatively far from the VF window, implying a longer than typical baselength. These are very promising hints about the quality of the VF/RF assembly. To me, this is potentially the most exciting and tempting aspect of this camera

Would be cool if you could mention price info on these videos too. I must've been early and didn't see this on your website.

I sell these for around $130, sometimes more or less depending on the condition, or if the camera includes any accessories. I will be listing another one or two shortly.

I wonder if there is a handheld version of the computer. I'd like to have one instead of using an app.

What do you think of Topcon 35-S ?

The Topcon 35S is similar in design to the Olympus 35-S camera in a lot of ways. But the Topcon is rumored to have a better lens, though I have not been able to compare them myself.
