      That's why I use the Smooth profile for everything from Elite to DSC to Assetto. It's curves just work perfect right out of the box. For me at least..

    This is one of the better explanations of how to setup trackir. I have been using trackir for a sometime, and now my experience will be even better.

    OMG, DCS noob here, I was an experienced Track IR user and the HUD zoom thing in DCS looked like a See Ya DCS roadblock. I couldn't read my HUD, couldn't zoom. You fixed that for me, hat tip to Spudknocker channel for sending me your way. I am now one more inch up the DCS learning curve, cheers!

    I actually never changed the settings on my TrackIR except for the shortcut keys, because I felt it was "good enough". Well, Your tutorial changed my mind so now it's time to jump into the home cockpit and do some adjustments. Thanks for a good tutorial :-)

    Great tip about the center position and zoom, using the friction slider on the Hotas! Thanks for sharing Ralfidude!

    Awesome tutorial mate. I've had DCS Black Shark & A10 for a number of years but have never owned a TrackIR due to their cost up until recently.
    Therefore flying around has been difficult, and more so trying to use the MFD's etc. I've just ordered the TrackIR 5 and am hoping now to finally be able to use all the cockpit functions with ease rather than clumsy keyboard commands and hat-switches etc.
    Cheers!

    I just used this 8 year old video and it still works great! I learned about TrackIR. I can make new profiles now. I couldn’t figure it out on my own and took for granted the amazing things you can do to make movement better and less strenuous on your neck/traps. I love the concept of turning my head 45° in real life to look behind me at 180°. Same with pitch and roll. Things are so much easier. Thanks @Ralfidude

    Just BTW, for those who do not have an axis control handy, there are zoom controls in DCS that you can map to buttons as well. I have that programmed on a 4 way hat on my throttle (X55) and it works just as good.

    I use a track clip because i do not like to have to many cable around my head, tested both and just get the same result after it's a personnal convinience each one may use one or the other you will have the same result. Just one thing if you are using the clip, do not have a light source behind you as a window with the sun shining in the room it will not track but when there is too much sun just shut down your shutters or whatever and it's fine. Sorry for my broken englidh i'm french!!!!

    Another way of changing profile instead of using exclusive checkbox, is to go to the Titles pane and find the game you want to use the profile you created for.
    On the same line as the title you can change from the default profile to the one you want to use instead. So now every time you launch the game, it will use the profile you set.

    Leaning forward in the cockpit is "translating the camera" or moving the camera NOT zooming! The only thing zoom/ zooming has and will ever do is to make an image larger or smaller it has nothing to do with translation and is not to be confused with lens length. Thought you might like to know...Good videos btw

    I also always used the friction slider as zoom, BUT the sensor of that slider gets a little bit crazy when you have the lights of the throttle on. Might be fixed already idk, if the in-game zoom starts flickering with this setup, just turn the throttle lights off.

    • @G_Squeezy84
      @G_Squeezy84 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      WOW ... really the pinky switch is the cause of the in game zoon flicker? Have you ran across a fix for this yet?

    • @32keihin
      @32keihin 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Garrett No no no, if you have the zoom of the game in the throttle slider, and you see the zoom flicketing in and out try turning the throttle lights off. Nothing of pinky switch.

    The problem with using the slider on the TM Warthog as the zoom function is that it jerks about unless it is dead center (or unless you turn off the LEDs weirdly) Very annoying! Yours doesn't seem to have that problem though?I didn't know the trick about using the curve for the default view however, thanks for the tip.

I have played with the graph lines and values and received wildly different effects with head movement - pretty frustrating. Do you have some inkling how the LIMIT is supose to work , or how much the PRO device is Physically suppose to move ? I feel like Im missing something in the process. When it works its great, but its so ifffy with MSFS and even in my SETUP of the PROFILE. lights are low , so thats not it i think.

    Thx Ralfi, great video! I was wondering if you could help me with something. I’m a disabled veteran and have rods and screws in my back & other stuff, so I cannot sit for very long. It just hurts too much to do so. So I’ve been flying while laying down. I just purchased a TM Warthog HOTAS & waiting delivery as well as a Travk IR w the Pro Clip. Do you know if there will be any problems with the trackir unit if I’m laying down and can’t move my head down very much? I guess I can sit-up a bit and see how it goes. Just wondering if you had any advise or ideas on how to make this work well? I’d really appreciate it. Thx and loved the tutorials for dummies! Didn’t know you can do this much in this sim! Wow! Thx again! E

    • @ralfidude
      @ralfidude  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a tricky one, I'm not really sure. If the trackIR camera is facing you somehow while you're laying down, then it should work just fine. The only problem I see is that you will need to move your head around, that's the whole point of it. However, you might be able to get around this by having a much more aggressive curve for your profile, so that a movement of 5 degrees can make you look like 90 degrees in game, or something to that extent. That's all that comes to mind. Either way, good luck and have fun!

    if 160$ is too much for Track-IR you can build it from parts for less than 20$. Yes, you need to solder a few wires but it's quite easy. Oh and yes, it's as good as the official one.

My bottom LED is more vertical to the middle one and does not stick out to the left as far.

    So there are no references to TRACK IR currently in my DCS 1.5 or 2.5, so I assume that when you add the hardware the options will appear ?
    Can anyone comment on this ?
    How many aircraft are able to use TRACK IR ? The list of aircraft from TRACKIR is very limited ... why ?
    As usual many hours of flogging around trying to get the simple steps accomplished.

      it will all show up and work properly as soon as you plug it in and play. All aircraft use trackIR. It's not a matter of which planes support trackIR, it's a matter of which games support TrackIR.

    iv'e got my trackir 5 set up and it seems that it is a wee bit touchy/ too quick no matter what i do to make it more smooth. i can't use the track clip pro cause the track clip seems to work better but im not sure what it is exactly. when im tuning it in the application it doesn't seem as bad as it is in say the a-10c.
    AND another issue i seem to be having is any aircraft in DCS seem to roll to the right after a small period of time and im not sure what's causing it.

      On the rolling to the right issue, simply use the trim control on the joystick (if you have a HOTAS) to adjust trim in pitch and roll axes. Adjusting trim is a normal part of flying. Two or three movements of my thumb at the start of the mission resolves that roll to the right, and then adjustments to pitch trim can be handy to establish a gradual climb/descent between steerpoints. It's also useful to use the trim to establish bank so as to set up an orbit around a target area.

    Question - you say you're using a TrackClip, yet you have TrackClipPro selected. Is that right?
