Dope ass review fam! I looking forward to this one. favtiove horror of the year i have to see this. Love me some Bill Skarsgard!
I would say Bill Skarsgård's performance is on the same level as Collin Farrell's performance in The Penguin behind the make-up/prostethics.
It's not just the character's voice and how he use the voice. It's also the character's physicality, body-language, his mannerisms, facial expressions, mentality, energy and so on!
Bill looses himself in his character just like Collin does in his character! It's total immersion!
Absolutely!
People will be talking about this film for 100 years
Yeah about what total crap it is
@@txaggievet Stop being so butt hurt that others liked the movie 😂

Keeping the look of count orlok secret is making me anxious to see this movie. 2 more weeks...
Apparently he has a nutsack on his nose
Your review has amped up my drooling for this even more thankyou so much 👍👍👍👍
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Thanks for watching!
Can’t wait to see it! I have some catching up to do! Great review! ❤
The mustache, but in the book, he use it.
I didn’t wanna outright say it, but good to know. I read it once in my emo phase as a teen, but I had forgotten that detail. Thanks for the insight!
In the book he has a mustache?
Dope review fam. Im not a fan of Eggers, but i did enjoy this, visually this movie is stunning. Dawg the fact u cussed while praising Bill Skarsgards performance says a lot 😂😂 And i agree he killed it. And i also dug Boy Killz World. And thank u!! I wasnt a fan of the look of Nosferatu character either.
Great to hear you enjoyed. I normally like this director but, this one didn’t necessarily make me love it. I do think performances were strong, cinematography and the tech aspects are really done well. I never watched the og personally but, yeah it’s definitely an experience vs a strong narrative.
I love the movie and the idea of a movie where the vampire is related to the occult and demonology. This movie effectively delivered on this type of story. Nosferatu is a monster (in fact considered to be the undead plague carrier) and is primal in his motivation. He is death. His connection to Ellen and his motivation to seek her out is simply because of her psychic / paranormal abilities and this is what drew him to her. Finally, we have a vampire movie that doesn't follow the same old tropes. Vampires should not be sexy and monster movies should not be confused with romance.
I really want to see this one. Great review.
I need to see this at some point!
One of my most anticipated of the year! Can’t wait to see it! Yeeee
Werner Herzog's version EATS this movie.
@@ColeSlaw-bj8bu A great movie, for sure, but I can’t say I agree.
Hey Anthony! I’m not gonna lie, but I felt like I watched the movie through your review already without the spoilers. I can’t believe I just came across your review after so many different ones out there. I’ve been so hyped about this movie since the first announcement and I’m a big fan of the original film. I got my ticket and I’m ready for it. I wanted to thank you for highlighting Defoe’s performance in this film. He’s such an amazing actor and I was excited when the cast was announced and he was part of it. His performance in the lighthouse was superb. Best of luck and thank you so much for this amazing review! 😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much! I really tried to capture the essence of the film without giving anything away, glad you enjoyed it!
I just watched it today. Eggers definitely put in the work as a director. I didn’t mind that the film was more gothic with some minor horror elements. Also, I wanted less Count Orlock .
When I first saw Nosferatu's face in this film, I too would have to agree with you as far as the choice to go with the "vlad the impaler" look, but the more i think about, after watching the film, its that element that ties him to the Romainian region, as well as the era dictated mens styles back then...
@@reyborges8996 agreed, plus it’s like that in the book. So, I can appreciate the approach the longer I’ve sat with it.
@@AnthonyAPerez another observation i felt as a result of this movie is for once 'the curse' is being depicted as just that. nosferatu, is really cursed, he's a walking corpse, the undead and lives in the shadows in obscurity to hide his presence. unlike previous versions of hollywood's attempt to romanticise the story and ceate this polished looking count by day and blood sucking goul at night. i really got the sense for the first time nosferatu was really cursed.
I love mustaches and beards on all classic and modern Vampire specimens, whether Moroi or Strigoi, humanoid or ghostly.
Its a pity its titled Nosferatu.
It actually changes the entire plot of the original, changers the characters, changes the fluidity, believability, poignancy, everything in the original.
It's Nosferatu in name only and some images.
It does make me wonder how many have actually watched Murnaus masterpiece, and just walked away with an image of Orlok with absolutely no idea what actually happened
@@muir8009 It’s a remake over one hundred years after the original. Of course there’s going to be changes on all levels. It doesn’t take away from what makes that original what it is, but why remake it if it’s going to be the same thing?
@AnthonyAPerez an interesting take :)
@ You make fair points though, as remakes are always going to be hit or miss for people, y’know? Especially with Eggers as a filmmaker 😂
I thought it was terrible. The acting and visuals were good, but the storyline and characters were terrible. People laughed in parts i think we were supposed to feel empathy. I just didn't care about the characters. Maybe they moved too quickly into the gore.
@@Elsith01 fair enough, I’d say that Robert Eggers films are far more about atmosphere than anything else. Especially remaking this one, which was originally silent. I think it’s supposed to be more so about the experience and filmmaking than it is narrative or character. Not one I can see everyone loving, but sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy it. While I don’t agree, I can understand.
Man I just saw it and it was 10/10 for me… funnily enough I heard this guy while I was walking out talking about how “barely anything happened”. I can’t fathom how someone could perceive this movie that way but to each their own I guess lol
@@Pradafiendd Some people just need a movie to be nonstop in order to be “good”, I guess 😂 Thanks for watching!
I doubt that Orlock looks scarier than the original.
@@lindasimmons7471 I’d have to agree. This one works for this film, but something about that original one is just eerie.
Is there a reason they don't use german accents?
That’s a good question, honestly.
Awesome movie. Just gorgeously creepy.
It's absolutely terrible. Don't waste your time. Kind of like a watered down Bram Stokers Dracula. 🤓
@@alphaomega1351 That’s hyperbole, but to each their own.
@@AnthonyAPerezits a bot comment don’t respond
How can a remake be " DONE RIGHT" if its a RIP OFF of the 1992 version with Gary Oldman? Several teens watching the movie close to me were comparing and contrasting Gary Oldman dialog with Keanu Reeves. They emphasis the uncouth mood, the shadows etc. So much so they even predict the dialog. Then kid its a remake of 1992. By that time the few audience complained and they decided to change ticket. I stayed and regret it.
@@cs19575 by that logic, the 1992 film is just a “rip off” of Dracula (1931). Oldman literally has many sequences where he says the exact same lines as Bella Lugosi’s Dracula. Why? Because they’re both adapted from Bram Stoker’s Dracula novel, which is the same for Nosferatu. This one, the original, and other versions that exist. I’m confused as to what your point is… It’s a remake… Which usually implies that it will be pulling from familiar source material to “remake” it.
@@AnthonyAPerez My point is clear. The teens in the theatre made it clear, It's still a Gary Oldman character no matter what anyone, including myself researches.those other versions were better. There is a point on how much to alter.
@@cs19575 You’re not making much sense. Gary Oldman played an iteration of Dracula, yes, but he was nowhere near the first, nor was he anywhere close to being the last. There was many before him and many after. Many of those iterations being based on Bram Stoker’s novel, like this one. Similarities are inevitable. That is why it’s called a “remake”.
@@AnthonyAPerez I'm not placing Gary in any grid or time line. You are ! Open your eyes! His take was unique. Anyone copying it is cliche. I shouldn't assume you're a lousy screenwriter or drama major but with your senseless reaction you think is so important, perhaps not. Face it. The kids in the theatre were just kids and had a good critic. And I totally agree with them.
@ You can agree with whatever you want, but you’re commenting on my video and I don’t agree with you or those kids. In my eyes, Gary Oldman’s portrayal is excellent, but only with the context that he has reverence and appreciation for the performance before him. Similar to how I feel I this film views previous portrayals of this story.
Ich bin aus Deutschland.
Movie was boring ,lacking and disappointing, Alot of the scenes seamed out of place without follow up..Oh and the ending was terrible, there was no vampire encounter at the end with defoe,, I was hyped then disappointed...
@@hford386348 It’s not for everyone. I don’t agree, but I’m sorry to hear it didn’t work for you.
Noseferatu 😅
I didn’t like his mustache. So he shaves every day so he doesn’t grow a beard?!
@@markheskin7154 I’m pretty sure it’s that way in the book, as he’s also based on Vlad the Impaler.
It is rare for me to so loathe a movie… but holy crap this is total and complete garbage. It is without a doubt in my top 10 worst movies of all time. My Wife slept through more than half of it, and I was so bored I literally got up and left for 15 minutes. This movie takes the name of one of the earliest and greatest horror films of all time, the silent movie Nosferatu made in 1922, and tarnishes it. Despite its early debut, and being a silent movie, the horror, the story, and the special effects still stand up to this day. This movie tries to siphon off this namesake, but has NONE of greatness, none of the suspense, none of the horror. It's boring, the special effects are literally worse despite being 100 years older, the dialogue is laughable, no emotional pull, pretentious, and it tries and fails to be a deep, meaningful artistic film.
Its 2 hours of my life I will never get back, and I hope to never have to view an old, floppy vampire penis again. Screw this piece of garbage and those who made it. William DaFoe, what were you thinking? You are better than this movie. Also its set in Germany… so why does everyone try and speak with an old English Accent? I could go on with everything wrong with it… but I will spare you. My advice, do not bother, not in the theater, not on streaming, not even if it’s totally free.
Again, I cannot stress just how much I abhor this movie and just how poorly done it is. You have been warned.
@@txaggievet Hyperbole at it’s finest. You may need to rewatch this original film that you claim this tarnishes.
@@AnthonyAPerez Why? Its superior in every way, this movie is complete garbage and will be forgotten in a month
@ Based on the reception it’s getting from most people, I highly doubt that. And I suggest a rewatch because there’s nothing about this that tarnishes the legacy, not to mention you use your wife falling asleep as some claim to this film being boring. Let me know if she stays awake for the silent picture from over a hundred years ago 😂
@@AnthonyAPerez Only people giving it high praise are the Critics, and we know what their opinions are worth.. .nothing... lol
@ Absolutely not true. Whatever your opinion of critic opinions, you can find many positive audience reactions to the film. It’s audience scores on RT, Letterboxd, and IMDB, are all mostly positive. It’s okay to not like it, cause that’s the subjective nature of film. You’re just being a hyperbolic silly goose who thinks critic opinions mean nothing, yet clicked on a critic’s video to post a huge paragraph of your own opinion 😂 The irony… Be well, Silly Goose.
