I'm in my 60's and have been playing since 14. it is gratifying to see the things I've learned from patient practice and experience being confirmed by Caplette, Mayer, Weckl, Chaffee, etc, in all the resources now available. Way back in the day none of this existed. Videos were unheard of. There was no TH-cam. No CD's or DVD's. If you were lucky, you had a few copies of Percussioner International (with the accompanying cassette) or maybe one of the "Music Minus One" recordings, with Jim Chapin, on vinyl. Aside from that there were just a few really good books available, such as J. Burns Moore's rudiment book, Chapin's "Techniques...", "4 Way Coordination" by Dahlgren & Fine, Louis Bellson's "Reading..." books, Stone's "Stick Control", etc. That's about it. That said, to play on the forearms is the best tip I've seen in a long time. Never thought of that one. I would have been less of an annoyance to my friends if I had! The simplest really is the best. Emmanuelle is the best. Lots of talent. Zero ego.
Ditto....total agreement about her. 60's here, started at 8, remembered every resource you mentioned plus that ol' Haskell Harr Method. One exception though, I been playing the forearm for about 40 years......
Love Emanuelle, I throw on her music during practice for some play along time. My jaw hit the floor when she answered who her first album was by. I was thinking back to when I got Areosmith's Greatest hits as my first back in '85...and then it popped on screen! Good interview!
I would love to see a video on your grip techniques. I’m just learning and I find a lot of contradiction in other TH-cam drum instructors. I know you have a great sound and precise technique.
You truly are a gifted musician Emmanuelle, I admire your playing very much and we have the same taste in music...Love Toto, Jeff Porcaro is my favorite drummer! Looking forward to watching more of your videos...Thanks for the interview!
I absolutely adore Emmanuelle, her name alone is beautiful. Then you add the talent and you have the wonder woman of the drums! My question is what size sticks does she use? They look huge, but she could be petite. I use 5B's and they don't look big at all compared to hers. Just curious.
🤣 Well, I also do not look alike my real sister either. Therefore, maybe Emmanuelle and I really look like sisters. I think it's more the spirit of drums and music that connects us.
Actually, the phrase is originally from an old English proverb “all things come to those who wait.” This may have originated from the poem "Tout vient a qui sait attendre" by Lady Mary Montgomerie Currie, who used to write under her pseudonym, Violet Fane. ✌️
Just another "I love Emmanuelle" post........ great drummer, great attitude.......of course good looking never hurts, but I really like the fact that her outstanding playing and attitude takes almost all focus away from how she looks
Kyle, such a nice comment until "attitude". The rest ist superfluous. Ever gave that comment to a male drummer? Emmanuelle is a great drummer with great attitude and skills, period. ;-)
I meant absolutely no offense. I am a big fan. I meant to pay an ultimate compliment. There is no getting around the fact that people see the difference between sexes and races. I am not a fan of that, but it is what it is
Good, I am glad you meant only well. It's a paradox though, isn't it? When you listen to music and you like it, you don't care who played the notes. Only when you see the musicians, some people's opinion changes about the players. Anyway. Thanks for straightening it out.
True. :o I'm too harsh for the new guy. I just liked Simon so much (eventhough I have seen one Toto-show in which Simon played irritatingly basic and seemed bored.)
She's a wonderful drummer. I love the way she incorporates rudiments and a funky way of playing drums. Thank you, Emmanuelle!
I've learned so much from Emmanuelle - lots of advice & tuition given free on TH-cam, always with a happy & funny attitude. I'm so grateful.
Falling in love with this channel. The best drum channel/blog ever. Ms. Caplette is awesome. Great job, great interview!

What a sweetie! Continue chasing your dreams girl😘
Totally agree with just being focused on the drums!!! Her technique is flawless!!!
Love Emanuelle, I throw on her music during practice for some play along time.

Any chance Emanuelle might give up the maker of those cool, soft tip practice sticks she's using? Can't find them on Amazon. :)
I would love to see a video on your grip techniques. I’m just learning and I find a lot of contradiction in other TH-cam drum instructors. I know you have a great sound and precise technique.

Ok, may be hidden in other hundreds question about drums! Great job of course, thank you! ;-)
Neil Peart & Emmanuel Caplette are the only two drummers I am following. Both Canadian. 😆
Oh wow, be careful following Neil Peart these days. 😉
CAT with HATs Great man is in good place. I’m officially placing his photo on my bookwall.
Great interview. Look forward to seeing you soon,Cat. Bless up!
Thank you, Jay!
The search has ended.
Emmanuelle, you are my Girl.💓
Oh my! I was right there until she introduced the forearm exercise. Okay, back to the beginning. ~8^)

Not to be a jerk,I'm in love with her
For that saying about being patient. In America....In the Bible ,Jesus said," All good things come to those who wait."
Actually, the phrase is originally from an old English proverb “all things come to those who wait.” This may have originated from the poem "Tout vient a qui sait attendre" by Lady Mary Montgomerie Currie, who used to write under her pseudonym, Violet Fane. ✌️
How tall r u?

Agree completely..........
you speak french ???
Who? Me? Salut Manuarii Clavery Terou. Many years ago at school I spoke un petit peu.
play on your forearms it works
34?, you are a teenager
Circus de Soleil?! Does she play NO?!
Maybe she can play drums for Circus de Soleil? Please ask her? Merci....
Her talent/loveliness-ratio is so much higher than any other drummer's!
Yes, that would be very cool, if Emmanuelle took over the Toto drum chair. Anybody who counts off that band is an excellent drummer in my opinion. ;-)
True. :o I'm too harsh for the new guy. I just liked Simon so much (eventhough I have seen one Toto-show in which Simon played irritatingly basic and seemed bored.)
;-) Really? That's surprising. He's such a pro.
Uh....NO. I never did see anything terribly impressive from Simon.
Both are legends man. They shouldn't be compared they both gave us much more than the band drumming. Cheers.
