It would be most interesting to know "where are they now?" I recall some were reactivated as the ARG "22" class, some were scrapped and some sold off to South Africa. You must have covered some miles chasing that lot, thank you for your effort, well done and an enjoyable video.
Thanks for your comments; I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes it was a long day. We covered about 1100kms travelling from and back to Sydney with about 6 hours following the 422s. But it was a really enjoyable and worthwhile trip.
Saw the first 422 regeared for the XPT bogie trial do 160 KPH on the line between Wagga and Albury. Backbone of the main south in their day
These locomotives were once a part of a great history. I hope that they put them in a museum. Love the horn on these locomotives.
They were truly history making locomotives, the 1st in Australia to use 16V645 & the 1st of that style cab👍
THANK YOU FOR VIDEO AS GREAT WATCHING

@@pndvd Glad you documented it for railway history. I liked the 422 class, better than the grubby and oily 442 class.
Must have been the slowest trip ever. On all the branch lines
