  • Following a battering from a storm in the Isles of Scilly we return to the beautiful and safe anchorage of the beautiful Helford River to await the arrival of summer. We explore this pretty river in Cornwall, have a dinghy picnic, and whilst there we fit our Osmosea watermaker.

Tight spaces in the engine room. Least favorite place for me to do work! Great job adapting space for the water maker. Hope it works well for your journey's!

That was about a year ago now Jim and pleased to say the watermaker has been working very well. Solar and watermaker total game changers 👍🏻😊

Hail fellows. I was a little concerned that you’d foundered with all hands after that last blow. So you’ve come across what summer we had and spent your time fruitfully. Nice job finding room for that kit. That lovely clean water and you didn’t take a dip! Scaredy-cats! Roll on with the next chapter.
Fair winds and a following tide.

Hi Bill, thank you. Yep I’m afraid you’ve got me there. I (Iain) won’t go near U.K. waters without a wetsuit, in fact it’s got to be about 28° before I think about it! I’m a self confessed cold water wimp. Kate is a little more hardy but only just! Back to Scilly in the next episode where the water is beautiful but very chilly in June! 🥶😂

Another great episode guys! Wow that water maker looks like a very competent bit of kit. Great to see how it was all put together. Looking forward to the next episode! :)

Thanks guys….yes the watermaker is an awesome bit of kit. It means we can stay away from civilisation/marinas for weeks limited only by food. Back to Scilly in the next episode where there are no marinas and only one alongside water point in the whole archipelago so it came into its own out there for sure. Thanks for watching 😊😎

    Thanks for the post mate.
Enjoyable as always. I recall from my days with a water maker a Satar unit, that we were not able to make water within 6 miles of a coast. I guess things have moved on the the 38 years since then. It was to do with the level of contaminants I recall.
Stay safe and keep up the great work. X

Cheers Doug….yes I think watermakers have moved on a bit! The main thing with current models is just not to run them in claggy water, harbours, rivers etc as it’ll clog the pre-filter. The cleaner the input water the better basically. And definitely shut the holding tank valve while it’s doing it’s thing! 😬💩😂

@@FollowIntrepidBear Great stuff. To be independent of Water supply is a great option, I remember we had some distinctly iffy water in the Caribbean, I don't recall which Island it was though. Safe travels mate. Very envious.

I am not sure if I would try to squeeze that much into an engine bay...
