Lovely set of anecdotes. 3 takeaways for me: a) Mama had been the “conscience keeper” for many artistes of multiple generations. He ensured that up and coming artistes maintained their balance. B) I have heard the same instance of Mama pacing around mentally preparing himself ahead of a concert from another very senior Vidwan. His nervous energy even in his 90s, must have been infectious. c) Malavi - I had the same observation when listening to a teen prodigy performing this krithi in 2019 and struggling with her breath while rendering the chittai swaras. When she rendered the same krithi recently, it was much better. Mama’s comment on rote learning versus involved understanding of the craft stands out. Great start, PRP. Keep rocking
Superb to start the series with Semmangudi Mama. The level of Professionalism that Mama had is astounding to such an extent that Mama is careful and cautious to perform well in a wedding concert where usually people do not take high notice of the artists and the person from whom these words are coming out Semmangudi Mama has achieved everything related to Carnatic Music. If such an artist is cautious about performing a concert it is amazing and inspiring for all vidwans. The level of care and affection about Semmangudi Mama had towards young artists of the future was very inspiring by saying that a person must be taught according to his level of understanding. The session of Palghat Ramprasad Anna with Semmangudi Mama tuning the tambura was very eye inspiring and humbling. Yes as you said no one must be in such a nilai as you were in the last incident.😂😂😂😂😂. Enakku viduvithirthu poi ninundrupen apdi onnu nadantha.
A wonderful initiative Ramprasad. Your explanation is very natural and at the same time understandable to all.. The first episode abt Great Shri SSI mama and regarding Malavi ragam was great 👍. Konjam namma Palakkad tamil pesungo athu oru prathyeka tharam sukham aakkum 😊😊

Could you please add captions in English for the benefit of people who do not speak Tamil?
