Fragrance addiction is very real and can be very serious. I personally know buyers whose collections are literally ruining their lives. I'm a very small time buyer, but active in the candle community. I have friends with collections that number over 1,000. One lives in in efficiecy apt and absolutely has NO ROOM for this. Another's husband is considering leaving her, simply because the hoard has turing his peaceful living space into literal pathways with her 2,900 candle collection. Another is close to losing her small child to CPS due to the hoard of candles, soaps ad body sprays, most of the later which have long ago expired. It's awful. Thank you so much for being a comforting voice of support for those struggling.
Thank you SO much for sharing this information with me as I had no idea that it was like that for some people out there! I'm not really plugged into the candle community, so I imagined that there were people with a large collection of home fragrances, but not to that magnitude. It's heartbreaking to hear how people's families are being affectedly behind it 💔 Thank you for adding to the conversation and I'm thankful for your support of the videos like this that I do! 🫶
I’ve purchased many candles and now moved onto wax melts… it’s not as many as other people have, but it’s still a lot … I have soo many that I haven’t even used yet. This week I placed my last big wax melt order and realized I have to stop making purchases until I finish all my fragrances…. I don’t use them everyday and not even all day , maybe will use them for an hour or two and then put them out or save the wax melt for another day. I think my collection should last me a few years where I don’t need anymore. Plus I could be saving money to purchase more important things or for my goals … Thanks for the video, I thought I was the only one that was going through something like this ❤❤
✨Hi Alex and thank you so much for your transparency and willingness to share! ✨You're at the right place and I'm happy that you found this little space on TH-cam where you now know that you're not the only one. 🤍I know that many people, including myself can relate with you. The most important thing is that you realized for yourself that you needed to make some changes in order to reach your personal goals. I think you'll appreciate the "Using What I Have" videos that I've been doing lately. And here's a link to a playlist of videos that you may find helpful with where you are in your journey to recovery. th-cam.com/play/PLUdFGymlm9BZkNX194gzIR5EJdzZkOqpl.html
Thanks for another helpful video. It warms my heart to know that I am not alone on my journey. I am currently transitioning toward retirement. I will have a fixed income, no longer able to compulsively spend. It’s imperative for me to have a budget now…and stick to it. I have come to the realization that there will always be good deals and newness. I am intent with focusing on enjoying what I have and not collecting.
I loved what you said there about "focusing on enjoying what you have"! Amen to that! 🙌 I want you to know that you are definitely not alone on that! I actually think it's nice to not always get caught up in the sale frenzy, and to also use and enjoy what's in front of me, too. Having a budget for yourself is so smart and I'm sure it'll help combat things like compulsive spending. Thank you SO much for being a part of the meeting and for sharing where you are in your journey!! 🤍
Enjoyed the topic of this video and it definitely felt relatable. Having your candle collection out in the open to stay accountable is a great idea. Thanks for sharing!
Many thanks to you for telling me that you connected with this topic! 🫶 I will be sharing a new video related to my candle collection this week! Have a beautiful day 😌
Thank you so much, April for sharing your positivity with me about this video! 🫶 I'm thankful that you connected with the content! Have a wonderful day! ✨
You gave me food for thought, so thank you. You have such a nice voice, and perfect diction. Powder blue is a great color on you, and I love your hair. It's a flattering style on you. You would be a great therapist.
You are SO very kind and thoughtful! Thank you so much for all of the LOVE! 🤍 Through the magic of editing, I'm able to make my sentences flow a lot more smoothly lol I'm happy that you enjoyed the video and I appreciate you for listening! 🙏
I decided to seriously cut down my candle buying 3 months ago. I probably have a collection of 200+ candles, mostly Bath and Body works, some HomeWorx, Goose Creek, and Kringle. I keep them in bookcases in my office. One day I just looked at them and it dawned on me how ridiculous it was to have that many candles. I don’t even burn them that often anymore because it is not the best for our lungs to breathe that in all the time. I’m thinking about selling some, but it is kind of hard to do, as crazy as that sounds.
Thank you SO much for your transparency and being part of the first virtual meeting! 🤍 You're choosing to do something different and that makes sense for you, and I 💯 support you in your decision to cut down your candle buying! If you have any goals you'd like to reach or limits that you want to set for yourself as you're cutting back, YOU CAN DO IT! Over time, one by one the amount of candles you have will decrease! 🙌
Fabulous video! This is was I needed! Habits! I really do need to break the habit of … because I saw this or that person haul.. I needed too. You gave me food for thought! Thank you!!
YOU CAN DO IT!!! 🥰 Try to make it more about finding balance and the journey towards being more in control of when to buy and when to pass on a purchase. Thank you so much for your honesty and I'm thankful for your support ❤️
Ironically i like having space too but i like to shop. FOR ME. it takes trial and error to discover what my number limit is. For ME once i run out of room that is when i slow down on buying candles and burn more . I am trying to find the balance with burning as much as i buy and not stay stuck in buy more than i burn which again is trial and error. But i have gotten better i never was terrible i just made little changes on when i am buying and how many. Luckily for me i am not into collecting. I BUY TO ENJOY !
Hi there and thank you SO much for sharing and being a part of the conversation! 🫶 It's great that you're doing what works for you and that you've gotten better in this area, but that you're still trying to find balance! And you're right, some people just like to shop, too 🛍️🙂 I actually plan to touch on this point in the next meeting 🗓️
