Don’t under price jobs like this. You can pick up a few well deserved dollars on jobs that have some complexity or even perceived complexity. It’s not easy to do that on simple jobs because others can lowball you, but the jobs with some complexity, perceived or real, offer an opportunity to add a few dollars to make up for the jobs where you have to keep the prices conservative.
Hi Mark you say you could not put the beam higher why was this. Could you not have gone higher up the wall with the props. Messier i presume and work upstairs in the above room yea ?
IMHO engineer should have specified the new doorway masonry to be keyed in (dove-tailed) to the new beam masonry to spread the load. But if the load is relatively small under the padstone then doorway masonry simply braces padstone pier and all is good. It`s therapeutic to watch masonry being built. Thanks for the video.
You can do it .it's just when you come to sell house .you will probably have to have it inspected.i have done a few with out building regs .but I not promoting it .if you know what a mean lol👍
@@aaaaa4266 I charged 700 in labour for this one think is was 900 with few blocks for wall pads and few other bits hire of the props. customer paid for skip and steel . 👍
Yes pat .was a few bad days .got a bit scary.when they couldn't get it out for a wile .was well sore after.been and bought a few pairs of safety glasses now .so got plenty so I won't lose them lol.making everyone were them all the time . bloody scares you a bit when that happens.all well now though 👍👍👍

Yes mate the only way was to go up stairs and prop from up there.they had a bathroom up stairs above .so did not want to damage it 👍

When you drop a wall and put a beam in do you have to have it inspected for Building Regs or can I just get on and do it?
