Todd Talks Me Into A Whirly Session Before I Have To Leave On A Trip

- It is early in the morning and I have to leave for an overnight business trip. I always try to give the kitties at least an hour in the morning and a little longer if I am traveling. Todd has already asked for and received his Morning Mousey, played Jingle Ball, and had his Cuddles. He asks for the Whirly and I tell him no because I have to leave in about 5 minutes. He tells me now and I relent and set it up for him. Paulie joins in the fun.
Todd is a 6-year-old neutered male cat at the time of this video. Todd and his dad have been learning to communicate with each other since May of 2022 with the help of recordable buttons. We aim to let Todd express himself and tell me his wants and needs. Currently, Todd has 51 words on his soundboard. This channel is dedicated to Todd learning to “talk”. It's nice that Paulie now feels relaxed enough around Todd to play 😻 His whole demeanour has changed 😊

It is hard and I try to say yes whenever possible. I figured if he was that insistent by saying now, he wanted it so I made time.

I think Todd is a bit sad everytime Dad goes away. He was trying to self-sooth by asking to use his Whirley, he obviously was not interested in playing with it. Intelligent boy!

I like how Todd gets enjoyment watching the others play even when he was the one that asked for the toy.
Yes, Todd will often step aside if he sees Paulie or Glamour show interest in the toys.
The way Todd bounded at Paulie is how my boys play. They'll get to chasing everywhere. It's sweet seeing the way Todd and Paulie have developed their relationship with one another.

Wow! Which immediately noticeable is that, after Dad says to Todd, :”hé be nice to her and play together”, Todd immediately does obey. She has really respect for Dad❤😊

todd was intently watching paulie and knew how excited paulie was. then todd sat back and waited his turn. knowing their backstory it was sweet to see them playing together. Paulie is so cute!

I bought the battery operated whirly. It used so many batteries in one month. If you buy one for your cat, please buy the rechargeable ones.
I did the same thing. All of Todd's battery operated toys now have a set of batteries for the toy and spares I keep charged up so I can replace them as soon as they die so the play doesn't have to stop :)

There is no way Todd didn't ask for whirly FOR Paulie! Todd wasn't that interested but Paulie sure was. I think Paulie was thinking about playing with the whirly, and Todd knew it. Then he joined in just to be polite, cuz his heart was not on the whirly toy.
I thought the same thing- he seemed to have asked for it on Paulie’s behalf, and then watched Paulie enjoy it for a few minutes. He seems so thoughtful!🙂
Very possible but I thought he asked for it for himself since he was so insistent with the "Now". Then when he saw Paulie wanting to play he stepped back to let he play.

I was thinking, could the buttons be linked to a voice recognition system to play pets specific videos? Some cats loooove the wildlife feeding on seeds videos.

HE does, If one of the other cats shows interest he will often step back and let them play.
Todd sits there and thinks: Look at this cat play with this toy. I am so much smarter than him. Ha ha ha ha ha.

I think Todd knows his daddy is going away, so he doesn't seem that engaged to play with Paulie, but more preoccupied with dad leaving.
We often have good play sessions before I leave. I'm not sure if it was that or if he saw Paulie show interest and let him play knowing if he started playing Paulie might get scared and run away thinking Todd was going to chase him again like he used to do.

He gets a snack portion but you could fill it for a meal.
