    I believe you mentioned that you started with 3 gallons of water and added your grains to it but you never said how much liquid you got from the straining process and also how much liquid(water) did you add to get to what final amount? You mentioned a 1085 sg but what was the volume of liquid...5 gal, 6gal,8gal wash?

    • @stillworksandbrewing
      @stillworksandbrewing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sorry for that i started with 3-4 gallons then after sparging i collect up to 6 gallons in my ferment bucket

    Hello Randy,
    I've been enjoying your content for several weeks now and had to say I liked the camera angles into the bucket while mixing this one. Couple suggestions I have for your videos would be during editing is adding numbers of gallons of liquids, weights of grains etc..only a suggestion and not a demand 😉.
    2nd is a video request for Pappy Van Winkle, since you like wheated whiskey. Maybe you can find an exact grain bill but if not I have a close guess I could send.
    Another idea would be a detailed video about slober boxes vs thumpers as i don't think anyone (I've watched) has done a video on that subject.
    Apologies for the long read 😂

    Liked that you tried to talk about what you think about the flavor the grains offer, as I am still curious as to what corn really tastes like.
    Look forward to the distillation and tasting.

    Making mead and distilling it makes the best honey shine when you French oak and age it for a while. My goodness everyone has to try. After a few months of mellowing and ageing in glass it smells and tastes like the honey you used but with a whiskey type body

    This looks like a fun mash. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
    Have you ever tried kveik yeast? They say it really pumps up the fruity flavors. I'm trying that in an all molasses rum right now. It is appealing because the yeast works well up to just over 100 degrees. That is handy for me in the summer if it works. Just wondered if you had tried it.

    What if your waited 3hrs to do the starch test wouldn't it also be thinner so it will sieve better and higher sugar content.😀

  • @danthemann
