Very true. Too bad he got a slushy Renault box. I’ve had a ‘99 with the VG33E since new and I couldn’t be happier with it. I’ve driven a 2001 Pathfinder too, and it was dreary. Totally different experience. And it’s got almost 300k miles on it and it’s never had any serious mechanical issues. Not a single one.
I've got a '97 with an older engine. No doubt it's still pretty gutless but it's quite reliable. Nearly 300k and it's just humming along. Has a 5spd though so even without the power it's still fun to drive.
I sold my manual 2000 pathfinder a few months ago and miss it. Always liked it. I also have a G35 coupe sport. I like it very much. I'm salty with this channel. lol, fuck.
What the fuck? It wasn't boring when I was passing everybody. It was comfortable sporty and could handle everything my 4Runner could. I've come to the conclusion that Mr. Regular hates everything I like and we would be throwing hands by the end of our third beer.
That’s a very nice Pathfinder! I had a 1999 QX4, very similar but mine only had the 3.3 with 170 HP. The 3.5 came out in 2001 with 240 HP. I really enjoy my QX4, took a lot of trips in it. Bought it with 99,000 miles, every button and feature worked. Sold it on 2 years later when we got a Ridgeline. Nissan USED to make pretty solid stuff. That Pathfinder is one of the last good ones, from the last good years. Notable exception: the Frontier. Had the same platform from 2005-2020, generally solid trucks. Great 4.0 liter V6, good power, NO CVT, still body on frame construction.
2002 Pathfinder SE, not the best but love it ..! Reliable, no major issues and fun for off-road rides and tow a Jon boat. Owning for twenty-one year. Planning to keep it and driving it to the ground.
Commenting while comercial is on and video has not started... i have so many questions about the pathfinder and i think Qx4 or something... i drove a 5 speed one and sort of found it fun... white gauges, v6 5 speed , body roll.... it was unexpected joy... love the content guys, thanks mr. R and the Roman
This video is funny as hell! A lot of what you say is true. Personally, I loved my pathfinder! Lasted forever and was very cheap to buy used. Drove it across the country (off-road in Montana and Utah) then drove it strait into the ground. Would recommend!
My buddy growing up had a driveway with really steep shoulders, it was like a 3 foot drop off the side of the driveway, and his older brother rolled the family Trooper backing out of the driveway the day he got his license.
@@brysonkuhn3290 we have a pathfinder exactly like this. My dad jokes with us and calls it a rodeo. I say it's a pathfinder. He says whatever, it's a churched up rodeo 🤣😂
I have a 4wd 2004 pathfinder and I love it. It's the perfect size, and it's flexible as hell. It's run very well for me, although it only has 86k miles. I've had 2 other pathfinders though, both from 2002, that were great too. I like that I can tow with it, it's got enough off road capability to have some fun with, and I think it will be good to camp with eventually. The aftermarket is also surprisingly good. If you don't have the money for a forerunner or just want an alternative, Pathfinders are good. Lots of people overland with them. I don't see many crawler builds but with good tires and a lift they're very good off road.
So this guy spends an hour or so in a 20 year old vehicle and has it all figured out. Right. My experience with an almost identical Pathfinder rates it as one of the best all-around daily drivers I've had. Better than the XJ Jeep that it replaced. Reliable as a good dog until rust killed it at 285K miles. He's entertaining, I'll give him that.
nothing wrong with water in fact everything is right about (clean) water most of our body consists of it AND: most of Mr. Regular and the Romans body consists of it💜
Regular is WAY off base on the off road performance of these. These and Xterras are some of the best bang for your buck, out of the box off-road you can buy these days.
I love my parents and always have, but nothing made me want to run away from home more than being forced to wait for their "stand by the door conversations" to end at church. It always takes 10 times longer than your typical "Mom ran into a friend at the grocery store" conversations too!
I’ve had lots of cars and trucks, and I have no idea how he arrived at this conclusion. Perfect all around vehicle.. I enjoy it ! Scotty and the car wizard recommended the 96- 04 pathfinder..
I'm so happy I didn't have to put up with that church stuff. I can remember my middle school Sunday's riding home from the wood lot in my Dad's dump truck and pointing at the church parking lots saying to him look at all those people who wasted half a day while we were out there splitting firewood.
Lol the pathfinder had the one of the highest hp and tq of that year compared to its competitors. Locktite the powervalves, change the pcv valve, keep a quality 91-93 in the tank, change oil regularly, and for gods sake let it warm up before taking off! you will have no oil burning issues. I got 325k out of my last pathfinder with the vq35 before getting into a collision. New one I bought has 165k with no oil burning issues. She purrs
I liked it too. Great car for when I had my first child. When the lease was up we got a Pilot. For no other reason than price. If you want fun, drive a vette.
As muchas I loved the review, couldn’t disagree more. This is a hidden gem in a time of plastic home appliances with wheels. Not a Nissan fanboy but the review feels more like a collection of jokes and references rather than actual facts and opinions from the actual Nissan Pathfinder drivers.
my first car was a 2001 pathfinder that used to be my dad's, in all honesty it was built like a tank. lasted us 18 years and 250k miles before we sold it
@@ishansingh9633 Exactly, I knew a lot of people with 4runner's from the same year and they said that this Pathfinder handled and drove so much better than their 4runner. The power delivery from the engine was also better. I wouldn't even compare the Explorer from back then, those were junk.
@@ssjMaximum22Goku yeah the r50 pathfinder had great road manners due to the unibody chassis. sure you sacrifice some peak offroad ability compared to a 4runner but it must've been marginal at best considering nissan raced them in the dakar rally

Well, I always knew there would be one review that got me a little irritated when he tore into it. Just didn't know it would be this. But, a pearl white 2002 Pathfinder was my first car, so I guess it's natural I want to white knight for it...
11 years the 2003 se pathfinder served as the family truckster. And I was sad to see her go. But after a 3 cam timing sensors, and a rear main gasket, that led to a oil leaking from every other gasket, the cost to keep her fresh got to much. She was a stylish smooth ride that performed well on and off road. Yeah, off road. I got her good and deep many times, submerged her up to the headlights, climbed giant piles of gravel at abandoned road construction sites, and plowed up snowy mountain roads. Roomy enough, powerful 240 hp engine. Yeah, she had a finicky trans, back end liked to bottom out and the mpg was about 12-15 around town and 19 on the hwy. But any car that can serve me for 11 years without any major jobs (till the end) and get me from NC to TX to OR without a hitch….. is all right by me. Your review is completely wrong.
I actually had this gen Pathfinder. Despite some overall lackluster aesthetics it actually hauled ass in the snow. I went through Pocono winters and the PA Snowmageddon of 2010 in it.

My family had one of these, my dad daily drove it until 2012... He actually TRIED to kill it and couldn't. He sold it for scrap as a running car.
Why????
If he sold it for scrap as a running car, the yard probably verified it ran and resold it for profit.
@@ixionn563 there was a fair bit of rust. They wouldn't have gotten much for it
@@Dankcatvacs why what?
I can't remember the last time mr. Regular liked a car. Also i miss the Roman intros
LS swap g35
@@frizzvictor1535 i still remember it feeling like he was more bitter in that review compared to something like those Honda Prelude reviews.
I guess the galant v-4 "ball cooler" from like three months ago was the last one
Has the passion been lost for truly ‘regular’ cars?
Yea.. *stares at my 220k 05 G35 that has only had regular maintenance done in sadness*
"Is this a Discman?"
"No, Koss"
As a 90s kid, I felt that
That church segment.... We all really lived the same life, didn't we?
That 4Runner and this pathfinder are from completely different decades.. older pathfinders have the indestructible VG engine
I have a z31 with the vg30e still running great after 270 000km and still going strong! Vg 4 life
My ‘88 Maxima’s VG30E survived my high school years, ‘nuff said.
I used to have a 96 with a manual, I loved that thing, though it kept popping clutch masters cylinders and slave cylinders for whatever reason 😅😅
I've always been a fan of the styling for what it is, holds up better than most. My fav from this era was the Isuzu Rodeo...RIP.
I sold my manual 2000 pathfinder a few months ago and miss it. Always liked it. I also have a G35 coupe sport. I like it very much. I'm salty with this channel. lol, fuck.
@@cavemanxcore manual is pretty rare I think
That diagonal C pillar is iconic to me. I've had 3 of the R50 models now.
"Is this a Kenwood? No Boss Audio" Even I felt that one.
Never have I been so attacked, yet so seen. From the church stuff to the current day
Driving a 2000 Pathfinder
I'm driving a 2001 nissan xterra hopefully that's not next😭😭😭
I like that even Nick couldn't be bothered to add a jingle!
He said a while back that the songs would stop being a regular part of the series.
he’s on vacation that’s why there’s no song
This one doesn't deserve even a BROWN chord.
2002 Pathfinder SE, not the best but love it ..! Reliable, no major issues and fun for off-road rides and tow a Jon boat. Owning for twenty-one year. Planning to keep it and driving it to the ground.
I had one of these with a 2 inch lift and nice wheels. Really enjoyed owning it. Wasn't fast, wasn't the most exciting thing ever. But I loved it.
This is the most boring car you've ever driven? I guess I should submit my 2013 Equinox so we can lower some bars.
This video is funny as hell! A lot of what you say is true. Personally, I loved my pathfinder! Lasted forever and was very cheap to buy used. Drove it across the country (off-road in Montana and Utah) then drove it strait into the ground. Would recommend!
This was the car my mom had growing up. I absolutely loved it
These videos make my Monday evenings.
Isuzu made a SUV just like this and it seems like neither of them ever dies
My buddy growing up had a driveway with really steep shoulders, it was like a 3 foot drop off the side of the driveway, and his older brother rolled the family Trooper backing out of the driveway the day he got his license.
@@colin-nekritz I think he might mean the amigo. The trooper seems much larger, but the amigo can be 2dr so idk
Rodeo
@@95epiphone yeah I was trying to find the name for that one. Rebadged as a Honda passport too
@@brysonkuhn3290 we have a pathfinder exactly like this. My dad jokes with us and calls it a rodeo. I say it's a pathfinder. He says whatever, it's a churched up rodeo 🤣😂
There is an unusual amount of harshness in this one and many recent productions
2gen Nissan Pathfinder: For a man to whom sex between two women is the pinnacle of kinkyness.
Meanwhile, 15 years later, the 2016+ Pathfinder is the new Soccer Mom minivan.
The latest PF is pretty good.
Just bought a 2001 pathfinder SE. I'm happy with it so far.
So in a nutshell this car is like a glass of tap water
nothing wrong with water
in fact everything is right about (clean) water
most of our body consists of it
AND: most of Mr. Regular and the Romans body consists of it💜
From Flint, MICHIGAN.
Regular is WAY off base on the off road performance of these. These and Xterras are some of the best bang for your buck, out of the box off-road you can buy these days.
More like distilled water.
Why would you really believe everything he says. We have no idea how it drives.
I remember those stand-by-the-door conversations as a kid. I also loved the, "Is pathfinder pepsi okay"
In your church story, you forgot the part where the Preist gently puts his hands on your shoulders from behind, before everything fads to black.
Gotta embrace the touch of the lord
I love my parents and always have, but nothing made me want to run away from home more than being forced to wait for their "stand by the door conversations" to end at church. It always takes 10 times longer than your typical "Mom ran into a friend at the grocery store" conversations too!
Same goes for visiting relatives, or meeting at a public event.
"Oh look it's Sandy. I haven't seen her in like forever. I'll just be a minute."
I’ve had lots of cars and trucks, and I have no idea how he arrived at this conclusion. Perfect all around vehicle.. I enjoy it !
Scotty and the car wizard recommended the 96- 04 pathfinder..
This is the only channel that I completely miss new videos because the strange upload times.
My god that church thing hit close to home 🤣, and my parents wonder why I haven't stepped foot in a church since I moved out
Bro how tf are the analogies in these videos so accurate?
4Runner is MGS1, Pathfinder is Syphon Filter
I preferred SF over MSG1...
But Goldeneye was the best.
Siphon Filter was awesome! Gabe Logan was way cooler imho.
I'm so happy I didn't have to put up with that church stuff. I can remember my middle school Sunday's riding home from the wood lot in my Dad's dump truck and pointing at the church parking lots saying to him look at all those people who wasted half a day while we were out there splitting firewood.
I really want there to be a movie about Trent Falconwrath. I’m thinking something along the lines of Vanwilder meets the Matrix
Trent Falconwrath 2: Escape From Sunday School
Trent Falconwrath 3: Dan Arnitz Strikes Back
That Church analogy was spot on
"Hey Mom can we get a 4-Runner?"
"No honey we have an SUV at home!"
The SUV they have at home!
Infiniti QX4 was the slightly cooler and nicer version... much more rare today. this Pathfinder is clean as hell though.
You know the car's dull when the video gets a cold ending.
(you HAD to have been raised Lutheran like I was, Mr. Regular)
The ending was a perfect lead in for the hepatitis c advertisement... way to go youtube... your ai figured one thing out.
These are awesome!! A very underrated off road rig. Although the community is starting to see that
*Edit* - this review is hilarious
Lol the pathfinder had the one of the highest hp and tq of that year compared to its competitors. Locktite the powervalves, change the pcv valve, keep a quality 91-93 in the tank, change oil regularly, and for gods sake let it warm up before taking off! you will have no oil burning issues. I got 325k out of my last pathfinder with the vq35 before getting into a collision. New one I bought has 165k with no oil burning issues. She purrs
I don’t know. I actually like the 2nd generation Pathfinder.
It sounds like Mr. Regular has experience going to Sunday School as a kid. 😂😂
@raiz666 its ok. haters will be haters
Wow, a new review of a vehicle that I'm actually in the market for!
Christina Applegate told me she wants you do to a review on "The New Allante!"
my first car was a 2001 pathfinder that used to be my dad's, in all honesty it was built like a tank. lasted us 18 years and 250k miles before we sold it
Nice, my first car was a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder and we sold it with 260k miles. I really liked it. A solid vehicle overall.
@@ssjMaximum22Goku good to see i'm not alone haha. these were so much nicer to drive than the equivalent 4runner, and faster than the v8 explorers
I’ve never felt more attacked
RIIIIGHT. I absolutely luv my 04 pathfinder le
R50 was the last vechicle nissan had full control over before being merged with the French company Renalt. The r50 was the last model assembled in Japan. The R50 was also inspired by the nissan skyline.
This video wasn't much of a fair review lol
I like the 2 door look on this truck.
I actually had this gen Pathfinder. Despite some overall lackluster aesthetics it actually hauled ass in the snow. I went through Pocono winters and the PA Snowmageddon of 2010 in it.
Damn, what a nice Opel Fronterra! And it doesn't even have that much rust!
Man a few years ago you could get this Fronteras in Germany for a few hundred euros!
For that money they weren’t even half bad!
@@rolux4853 I wanted one to just screw around in, but every single one of them is a bucket of rust
