Hit me like a freight train..... RIP One of the greatest. Heaven's choir just got better
Rest in peace Nancy, It feels like I have just lost one of my best friends tonight!
This was my intro to Nanci many years ago. She was AWESOME live. Tonight she sings again with Prine and Van Zant.
Like a thump in the gut hearing that this lovely lady has passed 😢.. a real authentic artist .. bless you Nanci for leaving us with your wonderful music .. a very sad fan ❤
😥😥😥
You said it right. It hits me in the gut when I hear her voice today.
Just watching Nanci's TH-cams and crying my eyes out. What else is there to do tonight?
You're far from the only one. World lost such beauty yesterday.
💜
You and me both, sister
Same, i had my best friend lie to me and manipulate me heavily
RIP.
What a fantastic song, from a brilliantly unique voice
Nanci's happiness in this video is contagious
My grandpa is rockin that mustache along with that Geetar . RIP Grandpa Rick. I’ll miss you. Crazy we lost you and Nanci with in 2 weeks. They are jammin up there somewhere ❤️
God Bless Nanci! She was a fabulous artist, performer, musician, human being!
I saw her in Salt Lake City. What a great show. My friend Gordon kept shouting, "From a distance! From a distance!" and she said "I usually play that with my band, but..." and she played it for him. I'd never heard of it before. Great moment.
My first truck was a Ford econoline. God, I miss those days.
So sad she's no longer with us. Thanks for everything Nanci x
Gives me goosebumps even though I must have heard this song 1000s of times!! Nanci was so unbelievably special and beautiful and creative...I miss her so much
Great lyrics: “She drives a Coupe de Ville / But her heart rides still / In that Ford Econoline”
My goodness....when she opens those big brown eyes and smiles like she's having so much fun, it melts my heart. You may been Nobody's Angel at some point in your life (hard for me to believe), but you're with the angels now.
Thank You, Nanci, . . . I love You!
Nanci joins that heavenly band. RIP dear lady, your music lives on.
I love this. Nobody's showboating, just making music. No nonsense.
and Lloyd Green on steel...c'mon!
She has touched many people with her mix of sincerity, talent & grace. Thanks for the post.
This is the video that introduced me to Nanci Griffith. Instantly became a fan.
I was looking up videos on actual Ford Econolines. Lol. Happy accident!
This is one of her best. When she sings "Gulf Coast Highway," it touches my soul. I've been in love with her talent, beauty and choice of songs for a long time.
Spent a magical evening many years ago at the old Backstage in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. Nanci did a fabulous set, and it was followed up by a surprise impromptu set by Nancy Wilson (of Heart) and a combo doing some new material. Miss those days.
This is some of the finest old school Country Music that too few ever
heard. Nancy has talent to rival any of her heroes and mentors. Nancy,
we would all love to hear your voice again!! Your music has walked
beside me for 50 years. I want to thank you for that!
Oh Nanci is extraordinary, I love her so much!
She knows how to create a world of images and scenes of life in just a few lines, entering with force on real life issues and problems of people, women, families.
And how she uses her voice, here with tones that are not too frequent in her songs, which it seems to hear screech the tires!
Wow! First hears this as a country-music-sceptical young man. Helped to persuade me that there was more to country than schmaltz, and I have been re-payed for that realization may times over. Lovely to hear again as a wiser old(er) man. RIP Nanci.
A great version of a fine Nanci tune which is about Rosalie Sorrels I believe, an inspiration for Nanci.
Woah! Had no idea! She was the travelin lady
This was the point that I first heard Nanci Griffith and the records she made in Nashville around this time were just amazing, I can still hear Lloyd Green's pedal steel licks every time I hear a song title from those albums. Philip Donnely's unique lead guitar licks are also outstanding.
I’ve gone back to this video many times. And each time I’ve enjoyed it like it’s brand new.
Thank you, Nanci. RIP. And thank you BH for posting this.
Superb, been a fan since I heard tracks played from the newly released Lone Star State Of Mind on the radio, criminally neglected at the time in the UK.
What a voice, what a loss.
Man, thats why I like listening to Nanci, she sings about all these places in America. Puttin one of her songs on is like a miniature vacation.
I'm still missing Nanci
Incredible lineup in her band here. So much talent on that stage
Rest in Piece pretty lady. My heart is broken.
This is my song to sing as I drive my old battered Ford Mondeo Estate, feels great to belt this one out.
Group of the best: Nanci, Lloyd, Mark O'Connor. Doesn't get any better!
One of my all time favorite female artists! Could listen to her all night...what a songbird!
💔 So many nights ~ so many memories..
R.I.P. Nanci... ♥️
such a voice, incredible songwriter, she is so missed
Wonderful singer songwriter! I love you Nanci!
RIP Nanci. Great song!!
Awwww.
Gone to soon.
What a wonderful talent. Thank you, Nanci .
Both adorable and a tour de force!
She passed now.
Rest In Peace
Old School Country, RIP.
Amazing voice , amazing writer ! ❤❤❤
First discovered her on a Chieftains album, doing this very song. Since, I have bought two albums and finally saw her at the Seattle zoo a few years ago.
She's marvellous!
Wonderful song, wakes me up this sunday morning :)
Swing it!
Just fantastic
Great band and great singer.
Wonderful!
Excellent!
One of the best singer songwriters of our era. Very underrated and never got the recognition she deserved here in the UK. Hauntingly beautiful voice, meaningful words
we can all relate to & not a bad looker in her day either. Lyrical genius of Kirsty MacColl with a voice to match Linda Meeks of Fivepenny Piece. In anybodys book that some combination!
Love her forever,,, RIP
i love this song!!!
Awesome Song!!😃👍
Whoa baby,.......let the good times roll, wooooooo.....
Great song, great performance!! Great car too i drive one too!
Great song :)
Rest In Peace.
Good stuff
Everything to like about this lady.
She is so great, a living doll
A fine song.
Conducting the Blue Moon Orchestra with the headstock of her guitar. Miss ya, Nanci.
Not much work to conduct with Lloyd Maines and Mark O'Connor in the band.
AINT IT FUN BEING FROM TEXAS!
i have all of her records on 33 vinyl records
Tal cual amo mi ford econoline
I had a 40yr crush on Nanci, we miss ya girl
I always loved Nanci.
Gosh! She could belt them out when she wanted to.
R.I.P Rosalie.
She is telling my life story LoL only mine was a big blue 78 Cherokee
Love her
The best driving song ever.
Ford Econolines Unite!!!
great
it was over 20 years looking to find what this song is called and find it
RIP Nanci Griffith
Nanci wrote this song about two other singer/ songwriters. Rosalie Sorrels and Kate Wolf.
haha, I drive Ford Econoline ... Greetings from Germany
i am also German,i hope you have something better now hahaha.
Still belting this one out in my new Ford Kuga, which isn't so econoline!
(Aka patc161)
The fiddle player is Mark O'Connor.
Another fine voice gone too soon
every woman should have a ford econoline!
I am a chevy man, but this is a nice song.
Why did they remove all of Nancy's live lone start state of mind songs
Rip
Duke Silver pickin' away back there!
@1raymio makes me feel good too, but hardly the 'ultimate'.
From the thoughtful songs to a hell for leather feminist tune
I use mine to give kids free candy.
Great tune, not sure about Mark O'Connor's hat at 1:16 though!
Oh come on, that's a cool hat.
That's literally the best fashion choice in this entire video.
@1raymio ultimate? really?
@cscdigitalgraphics ultimate? really?
Someone call out the fiddle player's name. Thanks.
Mark O'Conner. It's up there. He was a junior national fiddle champion when he was 13 or 14. From Washington, I think.

This gal never got the recognition and fame she should have? Why? Because she was herself. She did what she wanted. She had her own sound. She was what they call original. How in the hell can one get ahead in Nashville being NOT like the rest of the music machine shitheads?
she WAS really cute.
t a so WERE you. What happened?
I heard this when she was singing as part of the Chieftains tour. Too bad she thought she had the right to tell the Chieftains how to run things.
+Janet Aldrich Oh? I hadn't heard this... What happened?
You seem to be the only person who has a problem with Nanci.
I don't have anything against her musically. But she decided that she didn't like Ashley MacIsaac and demanded that the Chieftains release him from the tour because (IIRC) "he really didn't fit HER audience" (silly me, when I went to see them, I went to see the Chieftains ... but that's just me). When they didn't agree with her, she left the tour. Later, she claimed it was because she wasn't getting enough stage time, but either way, IMHO, it was ungracious.
all this is a thing off the past as they islamify the west
