How do you like the Tim Henson Ibanez? When I looked at them there was a few videos on TH-cam that showed quite a few quality control issues. I have had my eye on the Ibanez az47p1qm.
I'm really liking it honestly. Has been my main for my live church gigs (even though I know it's for Polyphia's music lol). The Tim Henson Fishman signature pickups, with its 8 voicings, really deliver the tones I really want and need for the variety of music I play and perform. QC-wise, I agree with the other TH-camrs that there are issues with the QC. Luckily, mine isn't as bad. The only issue with mine were the cavities (from pickup cavity, bridge cavity, to cavities in the back of the guitar), which they should've done a cleaner job, especially when you're paying over $1,600 (w/ tax). My AZ242BC has a way cleaner job on the cavities and that guitar was $1,300. But for me, I don't mind it when it comes to small things like that. It's only noticeable when you actually look for it. The things I was most worried about was any crack on the neck joint, sloppy work with the logo on the headstock, and rough fret edges, but I got lucky and everything was fine, even set-up and intonation was on par. With this, I strongly believe it's going to be really rare for someone to get a TOD10 with a really good QC since there a lot of people complaining about the QC issues with the model. So, if you want to be safe, go for the AZ47P1QM if you want. I never tried it, but those DiMarzio pickups do sound promising just from watching the demos on Sweetwater, and the gold hardware looks really clean on that black burst color. If you do decide to go with the AZ47P1QM, the only thing you're losing out on is the 3 extra voicings from the TOD10. If you don't think you need the extra 3 tones, you'll be fine with the AZ47P1QM, because for the body specs, it's literally almost the same. Hope my mini review helps you!
