Marvellous Marvin Hagler earned his master’s degree in boxing in facing the murderers row of middleweights from Philadelphia: Eugene “Cyclone” Hart, Bobby “Boogaloo” Watts, Willy “the Worm” Monroe, and “Bad” Bennie Briscoe.

I remember when I was 12-13, my family used to vacation to Atlantic city every year and this particular year we stayed at the same hotel just off the boardwalk as Eugene Hart; So one day we were swimming at the hotel pool and we see this dude swimming on the other side and we meet up as we're playing in the pool and find out it was Mr. Hart, he was there to fight Sugar Ray Seales (olympic medalist) and he was the nicest person ever, lifting me up and throwing me into the pool (in a fun way) and when he was going back to his room after it seemed like hours he told some old white guy I think it was his manager to give us ringside tickets to his fight, now at the time Sugar Ray was all over the media and was a heavy favorite and we were rooting for Sugar, until we met Mr. Hart, that's when me and my family switched to mr. Hart (heavy underdog) because he was so nice and respectful of my mother and father and nice to the kids (long story short) we sat ringside (my first fight ever) and Eugene 'cycloe' Hart easily (in my eyes) won the fight, best vacation ever.

Absolutely, that’s why I love Rich’s channel, because every upload is a school day for me, as I’m knocking 40 and am a relative newcomer to the world of boxing, but I’m finding that I barely watch any current events, I’m all about the history, and even recent history, upto a couple of decades ago, but the scene nowadays is totally different than stuff from the 70’s through to around the millennium period, after that it just looks like a showboating money show. It doesn’t seem as raw and real , bar a few rare eyebrow lifts, but to me the same level of talent looks thin on the ground in todays scene in comparison.

The sixties and seventies in Philly was an amazing time for the middleweights. It sounds crazy but there was almost too much talent. Gym wars among middleweights made many of those talented boxers in Philly leave the fight in the gym. Marvin Hagler came to Philly and learned much of his craft by fighting,Bobby Watts,Willie Monroe, Cyclone Hart and Bennie Briscoe. Thanks for another Terrific boxing documentary.

Another really interesting video. I've said this several times before but I think it's important for you to know where your fans are coming from and what makes it great. I'm not really a boxing fan but I find these personal stories very interesting. It focuses not only on their in-ring achievements but also their personal stories and what forged them into the men they became. Punchy music, no pun intended, can add to a video but I feel the balance was too loud in comparison to your narration, I'm not sure how others feel.
