End of Day 46: Miles, Storms, and Moving On

Day 46 brought challenges, reflections, and progress. From navigating hot days and quick Walmart resupplies to detours through Newberry and moments of calm on train tracks, it was all about adapting to the road. Reaching Prosperity and making my way toward a Pilot Travel Center, I found small joys in passing conversations and the beauty of an evening storm rolling in.
23 miles down today-meeting my minimum but still hungry for more. Rain, lightning, and determination set the tone for the evening, and tomorrow is another opportunity to push forward.

"End of Day 46
Packing up & getting on my way, I thought about my route. I looked ahead, noticed a Walmart where I could take a turn & get back to the interstate, but previewed the road ahead of 76, & thought it wasn't horrible. Deciding to keep on, I tried a 2nd day on it, resting at the Walmart for a quick resupply. The detour through Newberry wasn't all that thrilling, except the occasional car that caught my eye, or the Memorial Gardens. It seems every day is hot here, or it's raining, so I had no choice but to cut breaks short or else progress would be lost more so than it already was. Occasionally getting back on train tracks when the traffic got too hazardous, I made my way from Newberry to Prosperity.

With passing conversations as locals chatted briefly, the day wasn't so bad, & I eyed a Pilot shortly after Prosperity, & the chance to intersect with the interstate again. Hoping tomorrow goes much better, it will be safer nonetheless, & more miles to be gained. Arriving at the Pilot, instantly getting a shower & asking about laundry, to which isn't available here, I chatted with an attendee afterwards as she cleaned & tended to guests.

Setting Sierra up afterwards, I felt & heard a storm on the horizon, quickly rolling in. Taking my time to set up, I set up just a little bit quicker, & just in time. As i crawled inside, not much longer & the rain started to come down, wind picking up, & lightning across the skies. Beautiful, honestly. 23 miles today, which hits my preferred minimum, but not as many as I know I'm capable of. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
