As usual great video Mike. You’re absolutely right about the physical stress of getting to locations like this. Just as important is the mental stress you have to overcome. Thanks for getting past both these hurdles. It was great to see such beautiful fish in such a gorgeous setting. Thanks for sharing all your adventures with us. The Weminuche is my favorite wilderness area in Colorado and I'll be exploring the fly fishing on the Rio Grande headwaters and its tribs in August '24. Your enthusiasm is infectious. • @FLYALLSZN

I stand corrected (from your first video on Ute Creek) - there are Rios in the Ute Creek basin; all the range assessment data that I've been able to find is several years old, and only shows core and conservation populations - segments of streams where the "purity" of the cutthroat are high, and typically there are no other species to compete or breed with them. The Rios in the Ute Creek area are a recreation population, which means they're regularly stocked - I would imagine it would be mostly in the lakes, and by air. I don't know if those lakes are deep enough for the fish to survive the winter - they might be. I don't think there were any in that area when I last fished Ute Creek, in 2011, but I never made it up to the lakes.
