Good stuff mate
@@stevesplacedownunder ever thought about taking the twin steer off and making it another prime mover like the white etc?
might save the ears :D

@@stevesplacedownunder You should be proud of how it turned out..... loved the 'went for a drive' vid... specially teh determination on ya face takin on the other truck from the lights lol
Be safe mate.
“She’s a beaut, Clark” 😆 Proper old-school K100 and I’ll be glued to its restoration vids. Great find, mate, and kudos for saving it and sharing it with us 🙂
Hi Jim. Yes mate she sure is. It won’t be a ground up restoration but enough to get it on the road
Wouldn’t it be a K144?
@jefftheaussie2225 145 mate
Little brother you know I love those Ole cab overs the crackerboxes are just awesome I would love to have one just to cruise around in and it purrs like an Ole lion great to see you are keeping the Ole gals and putting them back in commission awesome as always little brother
Good morning Steve, greetings from the old USA! I’m the old mechanic name Steve from Chicago Illinois always appreciate your humor and great content. Don’t forget to have a couple cold ones, beer here.❤
Hi Steve. Always good to hear from you mate. We had plenty of cool ones this weekend mate. All the best from Sydney

@stevesplacedownunder thanks little brother that Ole gal is awesome a true beast for sure
Another great video mate, can't wait to see the finish project, just take your time mate, the true subscribers are patient no matter how long it takes, we understand that Family and work comes first
Hi mate, good to hear from you. Yes I think that’s the key, steady steady. We will be fine I think
@@stevesplacedownunder yea mate you'll be fine
Bloody good to see you playing with all your old toys to get the job done Steve. Good to see a young bloke so proud of them all. Thanks and looking forward to the next instalment cobber.🤠
Thank you Daryl. I had a blast using it all mate. It’s fun while it’s all working anyway.
Great old truck. Only 1 year younger than me. Have a good week. Marc.
Thank you Marc. All the best mate
Hi from an Australian who lives and works in France,WOW that old slimline "K-Dub"brings back some memories, drove one but a prime-mover,it was yellow, back in Melbourne, had an old 871 in it, mostly wharf work, yeah it had 15 speed roadranger in it,i'm pretty sure it wasn't overdrive, back then i was young and keen as mustard (if you know, you know)it was pretty old, think it was '61 model, the clutch was a cable,it broke once, not that i used it.Something magic about those cab-over Kenworth's.
Hi mate thanks for watching from over there. They are great trucks. I actually have 2 of those if you haven’t yet seen them on my channel. Both 871n with 15 speeds. Go back through my channel and have a look. All the best over there
What a great sound that Big Cam C is making, So good to see someone with a love of vintage lorries and other equipment, I'm a UK viewer here, liked and subscibed ! Really looking forward to seeing this old girl being restored.
Hi mate I’m glad you like it. Yes it sounds very nice. We appreciate your subscription too and thanks for watching from over there. Just magnificent. Plenty more to come
Awesome vid mate. There's a rugged beauty about the older trucks that modern gear just can't compete with. I noticed the cab lights on the KW were similar or the same as the old T line Eagles. Beautiful old rigs 👍
Thanks Jimmy. Yes mate I agree. I have no interest in new trucks. They are just the Hella bullet style ones mate. International probably used them on those
Best tonka truck collection ever
Thank you mate
@@stevesplacedownunder hi Steve you starter is at you po mate
@alanlanghorn9528 hi mate. I can’t thank you enough. I will see if my wife can nip up there. I will let you know
@@stevesplacedownunder no worries Steve it arrived there Friday mate your welcome to it hope you can get the old Ferguson running again Queensland tractor spares does the wheels think you can buy them off bare co to not sure on price now we got couple front one years ago off the case dealer here who does the bare co parts
@alanlanghorn9528 yeah okay mate. I’ve priced them through bareco and they aren’t too bad at all. I may just buy one a month or something. I’ve got tyres for it already. If I get a spare few hours I will do a start video of it, if not definitely after our show in October. I’m spending most of my time getting stuff ready for that
Enjoy watching your trucks and your know how. I just did two nice models in 1/25 scale of A Kenworth Alaskan Hauler and a W-925 Kenworth Conventional. I even made air lines. I don't have room for full size trucks. I have restored some nice old Ford cars and won trophies, being an automotive painter.
Hi mate I’m glad you like it. I was always into that scale also many years ago. I put a lot together, as good as I could at the time. I still have a few that have never been assembled. I thought about starting it again but we started to have kids and now it’s too hard. There’s nothing wrong with cars , that’s good that you got trophies for them.
Nice work Steve , it is a beautiful truck mate ! All the old equipment you have still gets the job done ! Thanks for sharing . 🌵
Hi Scott. Thanks as always mate
Gday Steve. Now there’s a bloke that’s proud of his old Kenny. How could you NOT love these old girls ?😊
Gday Mick. Yes mate I sure am. I will be a lot more when she’s on the road
Hello Steve nice to see the old flat bed come out of the shed mate the old crane really runs well dose a good job looking forward to seeing truck being sorted out and got ready for the road again hope your family are well Steve catch you later mate
Hi Keith. Yes mate it’s been a long time coming. Crane was a fantastic buy. It has a bit of a fuel problem but a great handy thing
Hey Steve Thats a nice 1976 Kenworth that engine sounds great
Thank you mate yes it sure is
Always good to see your stuff..... great old twin steer
Hi mate thank you. I’m glad you liked it
To my eyes I think its defiantly better without that bed. When I saw it come out the shed, for me it let the truck down. Looking forward to the next episodes. Great Vid Steve.
It was only a place to sit it. It was never going to be part of this truck.
Most K144s would have been tippers I would think. Some were tabletops with cattle crates on them pulling 2 trailers in those days up in the big cattle country.
@jefftheaussie2225 I’d imagine so. Not sure of the history of what it was doing, but was originally a 903 v8 Cummins in it.
@@stevesplacedownunderWe had a K 144 which originally had the big Detroit in it 8V93, the ID plates were still in the cab. You can go to Kenworth with the chassis number and they can look up the original build specs. Ours had a tipper on it originally but had a few incarnations before we got it.
40 FT FLAT TOP...Christmas came early for you, Steve.. hope you put that nice trailer to good use ..
Thank you mate I certainly will
Im glad that trays coming off one of my pet peeves is when the tie down rails dont line up😂 but love the old kw's i grew up in the 80-90's doing interstate trips and any time i was off school if he was home u best believe i walked out the door with him weekends holidays i got to travel all around oz in old school kickass kw's mostly the main guy he drove for had all tricked out trucks i loved it my stepdad was my best mate i saw him as my dad wen i was with. Him my real dad was a legend but yeah i love my kdubs
Tray was only on there for a place to keep it off the ground mate. Sounds like you grew up like I did
Gday Steve, the crane done well lifting that tray, it’s going to clean up nice mate, cheers
It did mate. Very heavy that tray too, the reason I didn’t want to use it. The $800 eBay crane is good to have.
Steve nice 1976 kenworth that engine sounds great
Thank you mate yes it sure does
Thanks for the video Steve 😊👍
My pleasure mate
Sounds sweet and looks a treat, cheers
Thank you mate
Honestly, you can’t beat a Big Cam Cummins married to a 15spd RR transmission, and then to top it off, it’s powering a beaut of a Kenworth.
Yes mate exactly right.
Thanks for sharing well done
Thank you mate
Thanks Mate looking forward to it .
Thank you mate
Steve absolutely lovin your stuff, but please tell me your going to work on the Roadcommander, would love to see it up and about, I owned one and ran Interstate and loved it, keep up the great work mate cheers
Hi mate. The road commander isn’t mine. A subscriber contacted me and wanted a place to leave it. If he comes to work on it I will video it
I am a mack man but i dont mind the old kenworths that one
She’s a good one mate yes
Komee kendworht👍 paljonko hv💪
Hi mate. 400hp
You'll have to get a dog trailer for it. Cheers Evo...
It would suit it mate
Cool truck, about the only twin steers we see here are large mobile cranes. When you were setting the blue tray down I saw a dozer blade frame, is that from on of the Allis crawlers?
Hi mate. Yes the blade is off the HD7
A great collection of old gear from my era. Is that a DCF inter parked in the shed next to the KW? Steve
Hi mate I’m glad you like it. Yes that is a DCF there.
Little brother how big of a project would it be to make that truck a rollback with that bed !!! It would be an awesome rollback truck
It eventually will be a beaver tail mate with ramps
@stevesplacedownunder awesome wow that will be a game changer for those not to far trips
So, are 15spd Roadrangers better than 18spd Roadrangers? Are they easier to work on/repair, or something? I've only ever driven 18spd.
Not a lot different at all mate. I just like them. The way you drive them is different, that’s all. Same to work on.
Wait you put a 400 in the ford and took out the 903? I know that are bad for corrosion but surely more horses and a better note? Great video man those twin steers are a weapon
No mate the Ford is still a 903. Only Rated at 290hp in the Louisville. 400 still in the twin steer. Yes the old ones are just magnificent
K144 and a 9G Chamberlain Industrial. What more could you want?
Fantastic mate yes exactly
Love your videos Steve, great collection mate! I look forward to seeing this old girl brought back to its former glory, what’s the story with the old black with white stripe cabover in the background at 13:01 haven’t seen that in your other videos before? Cheers
Hi Tom thanks for watching mate. It’s a Kenworth cab and front axle that you saw in the background. It had the rear axles and chassis cut before I got it. It was given to me for parts. It may be in an episode but I can’t think which one it was
How many trucks have you got resting on your place
Hi John. Between 20-25 roughly.
Where did you get that from did you get it from Whyalla
I got it from a bloke in Penrith. He had a bin company that folded up and he sold everything. Had a hook lift on it
Wat brand crane is it please? Ive workd around heavy machines my whole life im only 43 but we have had a few old cranes like these just for yard crane work then onsite wed us certified cranes🤫but coming from the oil n gas industries we have every size crane but to this day the full cab frannas and these old yard cranes are my favorite straight up😂
Hi mate. It’s a chamberlain tractor crane. I’ve done a few separate videos on it back in my channel. I know what you mean. There’s something about those old cranes. Also got another one that sat for 50 years that I brought home on the channel also
Chamberlain 9G Industrial Crane. As Australian as you can get. Built sometime in the early 60s but need the serial number to date it properly.
@jefftheaussie2225 yes with a Steelweld crane on it
Seems odd to a Brit to see 8 wheelers with roo guards. When I was a little kid living near Bradford (50s & 60s) our roads were full of them loaded with wool bales. Albion, Atkinson, Bristol, AEC, Leyland, Dodge, Comma, Seddon, and all the others now gone to the wall.
Hi Neil. Very common here to have bull bars on them mate. Yes I believe there were a lot of them over there
We call that an 8 wheeler here in the UK too in fact I drive an 8 wheeler Volvo fmx tipper but we don't get any American trucks here unless they are one off imports by an enthusiast or something and always left hand drive unless converted. I see thats a right hand drive are they locally built in Australia like that or are they imported from the US then converted to right hand drive?
Hi mate thanks for sharing. Volvos are good trucks. These are built here in Australia yes. They still build them today at the same site. Kenworth very big here in Australia
Absolutely mint seeing the Big Cam Kenny moving.👍🏻
I laugh when you put your ear defenders on to block the noise cos I was putting on my headphones to listen to the Legendary Cummins.
However many parts this series, I'll be here for them.🍻
But you're wrong on the best gearbox.
The best is the Eaton Twin Splitter TS(O).
If nothing else, it separated the drivers from the steering wheel attendants.😆
Shame it got banded due to bullshit EU noise regulations.🤬
Hi mate. The earmuffs had music on. The Cummins can barely be heard in the cab. I can’t put music on in the background because I get pinched by TH-cam for it. I had them on when I brought the crane down and kept them on
@@stevesplacedownunder
Hi mate, I forgot the headphones play music cos of YT short sightedness.😳
I did message YT about the advantages of the background music, where just like hearing a good song in a advert or film, that you look up and buy the cd, etc.
TH-cam put their fingers in their ears, like normal.
I hope the week is a good'un for youse.👍🏻
@R.Sole88109 yeah mate there are tracks you can pay for, we’ve tried it before but once added to the video, they still cock on with copyright bullshit, even though the music is payed for through TH-cam/google.
There’s a few times that a good bit of music would really fit the scene. Once we get better maybe.
Did kenworth use leader cabs at some time
Hi mate. I don’t think so. I could be wrong but haven’t heard of it
The answer would be no, Leader were their own thing in Brisbane. Kenworth were always Kenworth even though they are both Australian.
Steve, makes me happy to see the dual steer getting back on the road. Did you get my message about my safe chat or whatever its called account. I need your information to set it up again because I lost my phone. Can you email it to me please. I want to catch up. Jim
Hi mate. No I didn’t get it. I’ve sent you a few also but you obviously didn’t get them. I will email you
Is this white Kenworth truck a Detroit 6 cylinder or an 8 cylinder ?
Cheers, Steve from Bill.
Bill's Channel 1987.
Hi mate. It’s a 400 Cummins 6 cylinder in this one. Thanks for watching Bill
Lot of ginning around to get the tray off.Bit of pipe drive off easy.
Easy to say from your lounge
That was more then a bargain thats more like u stole it😂
Yes it was certainly a gift mate
Big cam is the way to go. Can you turn up the fuel ? Not sure if the commies will fine you for it.. can we get a series? Shorter 15-20mins aren't too bad .
I’m not sure what fuel settings are on it yet. I’ve never had it working on the road yet. This will be a series of getting it going and registering it
@@stevesplacedownunder awesome a series is what ya need for them steady views. Keep up the good work.
Texas is a lot like Australia. Hot then muggy 🥵
We're both sweating like whores at church 😂
Bloody oath
Beautiful mate
theres not one thing on your properly that isn't cool as hell, even the blue tray donor truck is wicked
Thank you mate. She’s a bit rough that diner truck. Got a lot of parts missing, but looks good
