I tried to play Conan Exiles once a long time ago. A clan killed me and my buddy and camped us for 3 straight hours after finding our tiny starter shack, while screaming racist obscenities and laughing. I literally left to go out and eat, came back to them still sitting over us screaming. I then deleted the game and haven't booted up another pvp survival game. This clip is 100% accurate.
Nah you got lucky. They wiped you when you had little to lose and spoke to you. The worst are the quiet ones that wait until you just built up enough wealth to make it a major lose but not so much that you can fight back. Like Sisyphus pushing the bolder up the hill only to start at the bottom again by silent vengeful gods much only feeds their power and ego.

@Anubis Pup thats the thing about games that give you multiple ways to play, how players play is completely up to them so if you don't like how others play maybe consider a different game, and no im not talking about trolls as trolls go out of their way I mean some people (like myself) just love pvp in any game that has that option so if it means I have fun at the expense of someone else I don't usually care too much as its the players job to make the game fun for themselves

My favorite moment in most things is when the nice players who have been playing longer than the griefers just flip them inside out like a pillowcase casually. Bonus points if I get to be said nice player, there is NOTHING more satisfying in this world than humbling an asshole.

Usually by the time your fist 1x1 wood hut is built you are functionally immune to 98% of the mobs so all that’s left is the threat of other people.
I have a better solution C I'm a Perpetual newbie I play games once in awhile but only game I play on the regular is massive Ryan too and I've been playing it since the early 90s when I get on these other games to play with my brother or my uncle I have to build up characters so I can be somewhat equal to them and go on the same Quest they do however my brother is a beta tester for a s*** ton of games and when you guys come and you f*** with me and you take the fun out of the game for me IHOP on my brother's account get his maxed out character and I f*** your world up I take everything you have I hunt you down relentlessly and there's nothing you can do about it and the great part about it is it characters always have special beta testing perks whether it be a weapon you can't get in the game stamina perks special spells or Tech trees are not available to anybody who didn't beta test it so I go and I just keep hunting you down for days or weeks or months basically until you stop playing the game because if you're going to take the fun out of it for other people I'm going to do the same to you I am that dick

I usually start a faction and play as a medic, take in new players and teach them the ways, then I have a massive group of loyal people. Also I've found that if you bring a sort of order to regions, new peaceful settlements pop up and it starts a form of civilization and sometimes economy, as long as theres a sort of militia to make sure bandits and cannibals arent hitting settlements
I bought my first game because it had a warning that it was very hard and that appealed to me. Once I started playing the only thing that made the game hard for me was the players... they're behaviour was like feral sadist beasts. I was incredibly disgusted by their behaviour as they treated players like dog or slaves from the 1800s. Played for a few months while avoiding player contact completely then quit and I can confidently say I did not have a good time.
one of those games, where if your character like disappears when you log off. It is a good idea to load up your character with the best loot you have. IE like some building supplies, weapons and ammo. some food. At least that way if base happens to be gone or destroyed. at least have stuff on you for rebuilding.
God i felt this. Which is why i've basically given up online multiplayer games altogether 😢which is sad considering there are so many cool games like that

Just like dark souls the player base often enjoy hunting noobs and so it is very rare to see new people keep playing those types of games.

Griefers, the reason I usually turn down always online games these days. To just play the game, make progress or have fun is next to impossible in many of these games because of people who think it's fun to shit on others.
Please do not refer to this as pvp. Attacking a base when the guild is offline is not pvp, yes the base and dino placement was done by a player, but the only things you will fight are AI controlled. Calling it pvp is giving these cowards who are to scared to fight a fair or upfront fight even when they have far more gear far to much credit.
There are people who simply buy a game just to do that, look at the creative game community flagship minecraft. On a public no rules server your stuffs location is either unknown or it gets destroyed and even on servers with rules it will be destroyed if there is a way to do it.
I once saw a video from a bigger youtuber who made a no-rules Minecraft server and tracked the progress. Was quite interesting to see the ebb-and-flow of some folks trying to organize stuff and others just kept destroying - especially when the first group build a new "surface" like 50 blocks higher to hide all the carnage of the past. Needless to say this eventually also got destroyed. I would have thought the novelty of mindless destruction would run dry at some point.
At this point, I'm expecting the pro player from the first episode to come to their rescue, out of respect for their first meeting... ...and then just griefing them himself
Reminds me of my DayZ phase. I played friendly and had 90% bad encounters. But the 10% were pretty awesome. I once found a small base someone had just started building on the edge of the map. I repaired some corners, build a bit more. When I visited the next time someone had continued the work and left me some presents. We build and lived there for a few weeks. And never met. All the best to my mysterious building-fellow.

I play ark solo now. Had freshly spawned on a beach was still naked and haven’t even got a shelter up yet. Guy rode in killed me and destroyed my little hut, then in chat “get good loser” proceeded to kill me everytime I spawned on that side of the island
I haven't quite had this issue in ARK as of yet but then again im very careful and so far most servers ive been in are so spread out and empty looking that i only maybe see one other player face to face every few sessions if that even! But yeah griefers are a real pain when they do exist or find you

I remember this happened to me once and then I had to rebuild found the players base. Made it into a hole in the ground and got accused by the same player for griefing his team's base.
I used to play this Turn Based Strategy Game that did a pretty good job of keeping hardcores & casuals mostly contained. Every action costs turns: building, harvesting, attacking, etc. The Real Time server had the fastest turn generation, but the smallest turn cap. Once you hit 30 turns (iirc) , you were full & couldn't generate more. You HAD to spend them to get more turns. The Weekly server had the slowest turn generation, but the largest turn limit. So you left the game for days, built up like a thousand turns, spent them all on your day off/game day/whatever, then logged off for another week. Maybe a stamina/energy kind of system would work in a non-turn based game.

I remember this happened to me once and then I had to rebuild found the players base. Made it into a hole in the ground and got accused by the same player for griefing his team's base.
You know they're bad when they say your dog dying is "rough".

I used to play this Turn Based Strategy Game that did a pretty good job of keeping hardcores & casuals mostly contained.
Every action costs turns: building, harvesting, attacking, etc.
The Real Time server had the fastest turn generation, but the smallest turn cap. Once you hit 30 turns (iirc) , you were full & couldn't generate more. You HAD to spend them to get more turns.
The Weekly server had the slowest turn generation, but the largest turn limit. So you left the game for days, built up like a thousand turns, spent them all on your day off/game day/whatever, then logged off for another week.
Maybe a stamina/energy kind of system would work in a non-turn based game.
