You forgot to mention the Australian property tycoon who took issue with people not wanting to work a 70 hr week for minimum wage.

As I’ve got older what I’ve seen is that people have been programmed that success = an excess of money, and that they must always chase that goal. That for normal people is unhealthy, billionaires are the extreme end of the curve, and those born into that wealth are the worst because they’ve never had to face consequences for their (in)actions. Great video, Mr Smith.

There actually a lot to say about this. In mathematical modelling there's a concept that's called overfitting (take a look at wikipedia). It's basically when you optimize for some specific data points which makes you miss out on the bigger picture. When AI appeared I started thinking about what the similarities between AI and our intelligence are. One this is AI is pretty prone to overfitting. You probably have seen various strange hallucinatory AI images and other strangeness. These strange pictures are due to some kind of overfitting. To me it seems human intelligence is reminiscing of AI. Our brains are basically neural nets (like the artificial ones). When humans are aggressively optimizing on specific data points we miss out on the bigger picture. The "matrix"/society we live I skewed towards creating a simulation were we optimize for the satisfaction of the ego, thus we miss out on holistic goals like equality, peace and environmental protection.
According to me, we need to describe this overfitting and show it to the people. Whenever overfitting exist in a system (artificial or natural) it may cause havock. Of course there's the problem that some people don't mind bringing havock on everybody else, as long as they live well, but to me holism is a virtue. So, basically, we need to optimize for virtues instead of ego. The concept of virtues are not new. How did we end up here? Well, virtues are not entirely universal, what's important shift from time to time and place to place. We need to work for a constructive equilibrium.

I think it's part of a larger trend. On the one hand, you have people with a victim mentality mindset being loud and vocal online, to everyone's annoyance. And as a reaction to that, we got the rise of this "bro" scene that goes full-tilt in the other direction. Radical accountability, personal development woo-woo, chasing success in life, being a "self-made man". All of which, on the surface, are good things. But they take it to the extreme. The moment you start measuring your self-worth in number of Lambo's in the garage and amount of pussy pounded, you're doing something wrong. You kind of missed the whole "financial security and a meaningful relationship" stage that should've been your goal all along.

We as human beings are forced to spend our entire lives struggling to deal with the unfathomable depths of a void buried deep inside our own identity
We are both animal and Man fighting to bridge the gulf between instinct and free will
Our animal side tells us to surrender to are primal urges and give ourselves over to nature itself
Our free will tells us to rise above the jungle of the animal kingdom and ascend to a hypothetical higher destiny
But neither can ever fulfil us and truly make us happy
And so, we stumble from place to place, day after day chasing tedious l, empty and hollow obsessions in a vain hope that they will give our lives meaning and transcendence to what we believe we are searching for
Except all hopes and dreams are folly
We're just pieces of walking flesh that thinks it's important
      And, that's it

Business has a set of physics laws. If you break them your business collapses and everyone loses their job and their money. Business doesn't exist to supply socialists with money, they exist to create economic value.
Illustrative of this is the improvement in Twitter after 80% of the staff were fired. The fact Twitter still runs and runs better than it did illustrates that 80% of the employees were doing less than nothing for the company. Lefties hated that obvious fact hilariously.

Just tax wealth on a progressive scale. 0.01% per million for example. Got 100mil 1mil in tax per year. By the time you’re a billionaire 10% tax on that wealth should help it find an equilibrium. I’d be happy to celebrate their contributions to society at that point

The world’s five richest men have more than doubled their fortunes from $405 billion to $869 billion since 2020 -at a rate of $14 million per hour- while nearly five billion people have been made poorer, reveals a new Oxfam report on inequality and global corporate power.

Millionaires are just as bad! Some of them anyway! I worked for a start-up once, headed by an egotistical, arrogant and brash American-English CEO millionaire, who often came into the office playing video games, while we all worked our asses off trying to build his vision! Sometimes very late (10pm!) into the night! To only then come back into the office 8am SHARP the next morning!!!
Anyway, if things weren't bad enough, he started to lose his sh*t when a colleague was having issues with her time keeping, because of issues looking after her special needs son. Not only was he completely unsympathetic to her needs (she eventually left the company after a couple of months!), but he also had this brilliant idea of punishing the WHOLE team, based off her inability to get into the office on time... Which to be fair, only happened on the odd occasion.
"If you're not in the office within *5 minutes* of our 8am kick off time... Then don't bother coming in!" he used to bark!!! LOL! Now I see why some Americans have a REALLY hard time with their INSANE work ethic over there!!!
So yeah... Bottom-line, dependent upon your personality of course but... *Money Corrupts Absolutely!* And perhaps if people were more aware of this, then they wouldn't automatically turn into serious a$$holes when they do eventually become rich!

I can make sense of this from having seen the flipside. Having been poor and disabled for much of my life, I experienced a psychological warping where I was constantly terrified that the consequences of my every action could lead me quickly to a lot of pain and even death. With little support, it genuinely crippled me. Every interaction or decision felt like it could spell doom because I was utterly at the mercy of others.
I figure if I had the kind of power these guys have, I might feel the opposite, where my actions, however irresponsible, will have little to no consequence on my well-being. It might even feel enjoyable to make irresponsible decisions insofar as it reinforces in my mind just what a privileged position I was in.

I’m waiting for the chat bot to say ‘ I HATE customer services!’ Seems inevitable.
The other question is how much money is enough?

Kind of apporiate that when you started the sketch of the boss gleefully firing customer support to replace them with bots, TH-cam went “WHATEVER LIFE THROWS AT YOU. LAUGH THROUGH IT WITH AUDIBLE”

I do the gardens at the main home of the CEO of a major company and can confirm his sense of entitlement is higher than the ISS. I honestly think he believes himself a god and we're all there to serve him.

Once you reach three million, you shouldn't be able to earn any more money. That's the limit. You've beated the economy. Well done. Now everything above three million gets taxed at 100%.

    Loving your videos Michael !
Don’t know if you’ve seen Dr Ramani Durvasula’s interview with Steven Bartlett on his Diary of a CEO channel. She’s a psychologist trying to raise awareness about narcissistic personality styles and it’s interesting to watch his reactions. I’ve also just discovered Gary Stevenson who’s trying to educate people about the problems with not taxing the wealthiest people. I suspect you’ll be aware of him already!
Hoping you’ve got another video planned soon.

I was watching this the other day and then suddenly it stopped playing. When I went to Michael's main page, the video was gone. Now it is back up. Question is why? What happened that it was taken down? 🤔🤔

I'm going to bookmark this page, just in case a billionaire takes you up on the offer. In fact, if a billionaire wants to pay off my mortgage, pay for building works to bring it up to standard and let me live here for free for as long as I live (I'm 51 so, you know, it's a gamble for both of us), he or she can have my house when I go.
