For years, I’ve known that this was probably a simple and straightforward thing to understand, but I could never actually find that explanation … until now! Thank you!😊
Thank you so much! We plan yo share some kind comments about our lessons to let people know what people think of our lessons. Would it be OK for you if we share your comment (and your youtube account name "56Belem" on our site etc? Have a great day! /Emil
What a good and clear tutorial. Would like to hear some theory behind a pen-playing-technique 😉. Never seen using pad as you did - very nice. And ⏩ was good too. Huge thanks and like button is smashed.
Check out his "Jazz Blues" course, it's absolutely worth a look. IMHO his explanations of how to use diminished, bebop, chromatics and melodic minor in a blues context are the best I've ever seen (and I've had a lot of music education). Great value here. Cheers! 🎶😎

@@proguitarofficial Sure. You may Emil. You are my fav teacher. I am learning so much but slowly. My son also leaning from you. We love you. You are a great teacher who teaches with true love and passion. God bless you brother!
Tack för kort, enkel och lättförståelig musikteori! Mer av den varan tack! :-) (Nu kanske man snart slipper leta så febrilt efter alt accord, när man vill snygga till musiken lite?!?)
l love the way u enjoy the music . good looking. Can u introduce more amazing scales like mode, whole tone, diminished etc. to embellish the melody and how to use them between chords. thanks
Thanks Emil!! The first song I tried out was ”Freight train” where I stumbled upon an E7 (III7 instead of IIIm7) and got stuck immediately:-) Where does that fit into that substitution system?
Hi Jonas and sorry for the late reply! The E7 chord (III7) is not in the key of C major, and what I'm talking about in this lesson is the diatonic chord substitution, in other words; the chords that is found naturally within the key. So if I'd use this concept on "Freight Train", I'd start trying to substitute the chords that you know are in the key (C major in this case). For instance, usually - the song is played: / C / C / G / G / Dm7 / G7 / C / C / E7 / E7 / Am / F / C / G7 / C / C / ..... so I would try the concept on some of the diatonic chords.. (not the E7). For instance, try playing the song like this: / C / C / G / Bm7(b5) / F / G7 / Am / C / E7 / E7 / Am / F / Em / G7 / C / C / .. I wouldn't say that's a better progression than the original, but at least it's different, and no one can tell us it's "wrong" :) It's just a different flavour.. I actually liked this part in the middle: / F / G7 / Am / C /.. sounded refreshing! :) Hope this helps! /E
@@proguitarofficial tack! I get it now. Yes that F/G7/Am/C was nice. You lift the D in the base to an F, play the G7 and created that extra (e)motion from Am to C. Great! Thanks!!
This is the kind of lesson I've been looking for 33 years
:) So glad you liked it!

I even added an Am/B between Am and C. Sounds nice I think
Followed by the walking base up to the E!

Emil, you have a computer for a brain....how do you remember all that 'stuff'.
haha, thanks - I've just studied these things a lot - and before you know it, you have it all remembered! No magic here, just some studying :)
