Thanks for participating in our video exhibition, Bjorn! We really hope to realize this as a real exhibiton in the next years and we would be glad and honoured to have you there as well!
Amazing, all those years of experience in Japan showing through in the application of techniques. Bold move killing off the right branch but it just shows how much vision Bjorn has and knows what will work and how the tree will look when it's styled. Great video, great skill.
your explanation and the way u explain is very nice and easy to understand.. and facts are very important.. if u can explain fertilizers and maintenance it is very nice
Fabulous technique - as usual! I'm still trying to envision the tree's final design, i.e., look. Hope you'll show us this tree again, in a few months - maybe before Winter storage. Thanks for another engaging vid!
Excellent video and a beautiful job. Can you explain, when setting the pot at such an angle, how you progress the tree to be at the new angle but the pot becomes horizontal. I have seen many such demonstrations but this last development has never been mentioned. PS I have just sent another small one-off donation but don't give up the day job yet.
Beautiful creation. Appreciate much, the considerations made during the process , to shield some uninteresting features. Wondering whether changing the front view by a slight rotation would be better to reduce extension of the tree to the left.
Great video! I am really enjoying to listen to the different steps and the thoughts about it! As I am super new to the whole topic, I don't understand where the tilted pot will end. Will it be repoted so the roots will level out over time or what is the process?
The materiel has been perfectly used and you get the full potential of this tree, again Bjron I love your work and the material you have, I'd so much like to one day be able to work on this type of collecting tree 🙂
Do you strike what you cut off as cuttings? As a nursery I feel you should take advantage of all that free material. But a very nice tree it will be in the future.
Another excellent and informative video. One comment, I seem to remember in one of your presentations you cautioned against separating live vein and dead wood on Sabina junipers; did I remember correctly?
Hey, if you live in or near the hill country there's a nursery called jade bonsai and they sell bonsai maples, mostly Japanese trident maple, but if you know the maple tree well you want to bonsai well you can do it, the hardest part is keeping the leaves small with enough light but not too much to where the tree gets hurt. One suggestion is, if you live in south texas try to keep it in morning sun mostly as I've come to find its hard to keep a lot of those trees and types of plants alive with the afternoon sun and heat.
Hi Random question for you. I use to watch your earlier videos and I noticed some of the episodes of art or bonsai are missing. Would it be possible to repost or tell me which one has the maple trimming in. I believe the video had close ups of a mountain maple being trimmed back before the buds broke. Very helpful video but I can't find it
I know nothing about bonsai. It does seem, though, that there is a 'bonsai shape' where by all the trees, regardless of their natural shape in the wild. It seems to fit to a pattern which is roughly a bell curve, where the shape is formed with branches which are almost weeping out in splayed plateaus like outstretched hands. is that a fair evaluation of a 'classic' bonsai style?
Yes it's usually it's the most commonly approach when styling trees as it helps to give an aged and weather appearance, making the tree look more older than it is. That's one of the main reasons I know of, but perhaps there's more.
Brown is the bark of the live vein. Once it is removed, like ob the fresh gin, you can see the yellowish wood underneath. With time the dead wood will be weathered and white or gray.
Hi Bjorn once again I commend your incredible skills but this time i wonder if this could have turned out better. In this case, i find that the second part of the main trunk is almost parallel to the groud (something you've taught us not to do in so many videos) and is way too long compared to the rest of the composition. Mind, this is NOT intended as a critique but as a design discussion. Thank you so much anyway for the great posts.
I hope you stuck those branch tips you cut off the branch that you jinned: you said the foliage was particularly nice, so wouldn’t it be nice to have new trees from them?
I think I actually like the angle at 27:38 better as a front. You lose a lot of the dead wood now hidden the back but it feels like a more complete tree and movement in the trunk feels way better.
These trees with extreme trunks have all been collected in a similar location in the mountains of the Midwest. The altitude and wind is what makes the trees look so extreme. A different type of tree wouldn't be as dynamic.
Because it is mainstream and he depends on being mainstream, that is probably the most important thing he learned in Japan. If you treat trees that are not in big demand, you will not sell them.
Гарний бонсай!!!
Watching this is like therapy,excellent,thankyou

Outstanding Work Bjorn! It's styling like this that separates you from the amateur bonsai channels.
Incredible artistic talent. Not just skills but truly a gift. Thank You !

A M A Z I N G. Thank you for sharing the video! Can't wait to one day work on a magnificent yamadori like that!
Beautiful creation. Appreciate much, the considerations made during the process , to shield some uninteresting features. Wondering whether changing the front view by a slight rotation would be better to reduce extension of the tree to the left.
SPECTACULAR!!!
Brilliant restyling!
Holy crap this is amazing! I can imagine it being smushed by snow and ice year after year.
Me encanta todo desde el árbol hasta el método de trabajo, técnicas y la edicion. Eres TOP 💪👏👍
Great work.
So beautiful
Amazing styling!
So is the needle foliage the juvenile foliage? What does it mean if it goes back to juvenile foliage?
My fav bonsai master
Phenomenal and very informative video. Greetings from Edinburgh!!!
Great video! I am really enjoying to listen to the different steps and the thoughts about it!
As I am super new to the whole topic, I don't understand where the tilted pot will end.
Will it be repoted so the roots will level out over time or what is the process?
by tilting the tree so much, what is going to happen to the roots at the back that will become exposed ?
wow very nice so beautiful bonsai bro 😊❤❤❤❤🌳
Magic. Love all the Jin 👍
10 people dislike this?? Excellent video and fantastic tree, thank you.

This is beautiful.
@Eisei-en Bonsai What about the pot? With the reorientation, are you going to have to repot it, or just keep it wired to the table like that?
Hi. In winter, trees must be in home or out?
Thank You 🙏✌️
so good
After this video I apreciate a little more this art.
Well done sir...😊

Hello I would like to know if you can do maples in places like texas

Want extreme locations? More than welcome to visit Iceland Bjorn!

I think so to but I am not quite an expert
Yes it's usually it's the most commonly approach when styling trees as it helps to give an aged and weather appearance, making the tree look more older than it is. That's one of the main reasons I know of, but perhaps there's more.
Quick google search will answer this
Yes. That is appealing to most people and customers.
What will happen to the pot on the long run ? Do you need to change it or will it have a custom stand to keep it at that angle ?
It will be potted to the correct angle
I would love to have some cuttings from this tree
Keep doing your thing! Chee hoo
So nice tree I think he culd use that foliage more efective. And use some for cutting s.
1 word, wow
Cool 👏🏻
How come some of the tree is white and some is brown? What causes that?
Brown is the bark of the live vein. Once it is removed, like ob the fresh gin, you can see the yellowish wood underneath. With time the dead wood will be weathered and white or gray.

I was going to comment the same thing. This one makes me want a rm juniper
Very hard to get juniper cuttings to grow
Will this ultimately be repotted so that the pot can sit flat?
Yes
very nice job, have a lot visual focus congrats."sorry my english"
"knock on wood here 🤞"
*knocks tree wood*
All the people who disliked the video use Turface. BONSAI DANIEL SAN!
😄
Cat litter
Would like to see this tree in 20 yrs.

Mantap
Dang that's a nice tree.
How come I can't visualise these styles on my trees🥴
Why do bonsai of the same tree all the time?
These trees with extreme trunks have all been collected in a similar location in the mountains of the Midwest. The altitude and wind is what makes the trees look so extreme. A different type of tree wouldn't be as dynamic.
"Banyan tree" on of the best tree for bonsai. (South Asia)
