hi paul this will get a lick of paint one day . i have had a few parts off of ebay before and due to the amount of them that are fitted in narrow boats ,new bits are being reproduced again. glad you liked it cheers Bonus
Really nice, thanks for posting. You seem to have a lot of space, but if you run out, you can store one in my garage. Delivery to Virginia may be bit of a problem, but I do have an extra bay. Thanks again.
lovely sound but she needs a wash down with some engine cleaner and a lick of paint ,did you know that you can still get parts for them on ebay regards paul.
Phil Healey the oils have changed dramatically in the past few years . back in the day with mineral single grade oils , it probably wasn’t a good idea . Modern multi grade and synthetic oil work wonders in engine’s and make things last so much longer .
@@bonusnudges The HD30 lurking in both of mine has probably been in now nearly 30 years, but good for occasional starts every blue moon. Yes trobologically, modern oils have better additives and can play molecular tricks, but the film thickness in a hydrodynamic bearing is reliant in part on the shearing velocity. I guess however given that the JP has an oil pressure gauge the crankshaft must have pressurised oil delivery which should help maintain bearing film ( whereas the 6/1 etc I recall has only a dipper for the big end and a pumped drip feed for the mains and nothing for the cylinder head. So for the JP I would regard 200 rpm as plenty slow enough and 100 rpm as probably too slow, but each to our own own!

Very nice engine, running perfect.
Sounds like our polish Ursus C330 tractor ;)
Very nice engine!
Is that Lister 9-1 in the background a runner?
Love to see it!
Regards Haddock

Okay, but using the valve lifters and the compression cocks is so an special JP advantage for so an big engine
Ripe for another 100 years service in a canal boat ? While they will idle at a heartbeat, is this good for the oil film in the bearings ?

hi thanks for commenting . the 9-1 in the background is a runner and as soon as i mount it on a base i will make a video of it cheers Bonus
Not informative, using valve lifters and compression cocks
adri weststrate hi this engine doesn’t need to use valve lifters to start it , a smart bump over compression and it starts!
