Se on ihanaa, mutta liian hiljaista! Missä kaikki on? Kukaan ei ole kaduilla! Se tuntuu yksinäiseltä.

Thanks for your response..I am a little bit fearful of getting a part time there, What is the current situation of getting work there? I don't know whether I will get work or not.I am from India.and How difficult it is to integrate into Finnish society. Also extreme weather conditions are there?

@@CosmoSpirit85 first of all I think finding work might be a bit difficult if you don't know the language.. you might get lucky if your english is good, but not an expert on this subject.. but I know it won't be easy. Integrating is kinda tricky I'd say, many finns tend to keep to themselves and are generally a bit shy when it comes to foreigners. I'd say it takes a lot of effort on your part as well, as in you need to show that you are interested in doing stuff with the natives etc. There are a lot of foreign students here in Kokkola also so you shouldnt feel lonely. I have a friend from India who used to live in Kokkola and at least he said that the biggest challenge for him was to get used to the Finnish winter so I suggest you try to mentally prepare yourself for the darkness and the cold. It's going to be only a few hours of sunlight every day for months and it can wear you down if you're not used to it. He said it helped him to keep active and keep doing stuff.

@@CosmoSpirit85 Hello. I wrote a long response earlier for you, but I guess it somehow failed. Briefly to your earlier questions: Getting work without speaking finnish will be difficult for sure, even with perfect english it could prove challenging so be ready for that.
Integrating into Finnish society can be challenging also, but not impossible. I think you have to be actively seeking opportunities where you can interact with the locals, maybe some hobby or such? I have an Indian friend who's lived in Finland for years and he has played volleyball all his time here. Finnish people are polite, but very reserved so be ready mentally for that, many people need time to really open up to you.
The weather conditions will be the biggest challenge you'll face at least that's what my Indian friend said how it was for him. It's going to be nothing but darkness pretty much for like 3-4 months from November until March and it will be really cold also especially when comparing to India. Best thing you can do in the winter is to stay active; exercise and make sure you have stuff to do at home as well.
