Next time, just use spray varnish, it solves the problems you had ^^
For less dull colors, try mixing your own acrylic paint out of plextol B500 and pigments, cheap and pretty. Good luck ^^

What an adorable potion coming out of the cauldron!! 💖 How fun to turn a pumpkin into a strawberry!! 🍓 Might be fun to put a strawberry or pumpkin scented tea light in there!! 😂

How cute!!!!! I love the strawberry pumpkin. I believe it’s a candle holder… but for those tiny little candles. Tealight? I would have been upset too if I did all the texture work to have the varnish cover it up. But they both turned out so cute and Halloweeny yet not at the same time. Can’t wait for part 2!!!

      Yeah I think you're right. I don't know why I thought you couldn't put a lid over a candle.
I'm still super salty about that cauldron.

@@RoseRequinCrafts I get that. It would have broken my heart if I had worked that hard on texture too.

Halloween decor is the best! And gosh I feel your pain on the failings of cheap paint.

Hi! This comment comes super late after the video, so idk if you’ll see it, nor if it’d be usefull, but I think I can guess what happened with the first piece!
Acrylic varnishes, while made specifically for acrylic paint, contain solvents that can slightly reactivate the paint and make it gooey.
For intricates pieces like this, I strongly recommend the use of a spray varnish, it’ll solve the problem!
Also, I think you put too much varnish at once on your brush and the more varnish = the more solvent.
You can still use your usual varnish! But I recommend to make several thin coats instead of one or two thick ones. You can’t overwork the varnish, you have to apply it evenly, without going over the same spot over and over again. A brushstroke in each direction (for flat pieces) is enough, applied slowly but surely. And for an intricate piece like this, you’ll have a better result if all your brushstrokes go in the same direction!
Here is all I learnt by doing many many mistakes 😄
Hope everything makes sense, english isn’t my first language so I must have made several mistakes

Thank you so much! That's very helpful! I'll work on that in the future. 😁

the pumpkin looks like a tealight holder (small candle) or u could use battery tealights too. where it would glow behind the eyes

Yep, I'm back. Just had to take a break with a busy month at school. Hopefully I won't have to do that again.

What kind of paint do you keep stored? Like, what type and brand and do you add a paint medium into it?

    • @RoseRequinCrafts
      @RoseRequinCrafts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Usually whatever kind of cheap paint I have lying around. Usually those little bottles you can get everywhere, like apple barrel or whatever.
I don't add anything to them.

You first scared, and then greatly confused my cat with your sound effects at the beginning of the video 😂
