I've never seen anything like Fedor. It was won when he got in the ring, just taking people apart at will. When he did catch something crazy like the Randleman suplex or that fucking bomb from Fujuta it was like Michael Myers completely unaffected, always in control. I think the day I saw him lose to G was when I lost all interest in the sport like sometimes happens with new generations and changes (Pride rules fostered eminently more entertaining and offensive battles, now it's cages, no Chute Boxe strikes, all new faces, etc.) Pride was all fight to win. Yellow cards for being too careful. The skills were cream but they danced with the self regard of drunks in a bar. I don't think that will ever be replicated, cer tainly not after the mainstreaming of UFC.
UFC fans don't realize that Cro Cop had 7 surgeries in a row after he won the Pride GP title in 2006, because his plan was to basically retire after that. He spoke about this many times in interviews and podcasts, how his dream was to win the Pride GP and then quit and basically deal with all the injuries he collected over the years. But then UFC offered him an amount of money he couldn't refuse and went there anyway despite having constant surgeries and not being able to train properly. The man couldn't lift his left leg above his waistline for a year, a fighter that relied on kicks. That's why you didn't see him use his kicks at all in several of his fights in UFC. So what we saw of him in UFC was a bland shadow of what he used to be in his prime, because for the entirety of his UFC career, he was not able to train properly, he was NEVER fully healthy, and was always carrying post-surgery issues or injuries with him. He fought with totally messed up knees, totally messed up back, he fought one with a ruptured biceps and couldn't even flex his arm properly. If he hadn't gone for surgeries in 2006 immediately, and delayed them, and just went straight to the UFC after his 2006 Pride title, I'm 100% convinced he'd be the UFC HW champ in 2007 or 2008, because the Pride lineup at the time was MUCH stronger than the UFC lineup. Pride vs. UFC was like UFC vs. Strikeforce later one, UFC was the inferior organization by all standards in 2006 and prior to it.
Thinking about it UFC probably offered Cro Cop a lot of money knowing he just had a lot of surgeries and he wouldn’t be as good as he once was so if he came over to the UFC and got destroyed it made UFC look like the best organization in the industry

A missed detail of the story is that this apparently took place in late 2006, i.e. only a few months after Cro Cop totally smashed Barnett for the THIRD TIME, and they still trained together and had a good time. Nice!
Cro Cop could've destroyed anybody (including Fedor), but he's always been super-tenative. Sure, he could go off from time-to-time and just overwhelm guys. But mostly, he played things very safe & defensive -- which honestly, probably served him well against certain opponents -- but when you have that kind of power, one touch can alter the course of a fight. He didn't need volume, he just needed to land in the right spot. But he could go for leg, body, or head and basically have the same devastating effect. To a lesser extent, Pat Barry was the same way. Just so nervous about the takedown that he wouldn't pull the trigger. The thing is, if you DO pull the trigger, and it lands just right, game over. Even if it doesn't get a knock-out, they're so fucked-up, it changes the whole dynamic of the fight. Also, his ground & pound was incredible. Just rarely got to use it.
He often, especially later in his career, I think after he became a father, showed to much of respect or caution. When he was pissed off, he was a pure destroyer and with that attitude he could beat Fedor.
Crazy how if the Gonzaga head kick never happened, Cro Cop would have gone on to fight Couture, and I think he beats Couture quickly, and becomes ufc champion. One kick changed the heavyweight division forever.

Such a great person, humble guy, metalhead! 🤘
I was like , is that a watain shirt?
@@hector-cu4yp Lmao it is
Seemingly one of the more intelligent MMA legends I can think of.
Frank Mir, as well.
This video just came up in my feed and I only watched it to double check that he was wearing a watain shirt.
Seeing crocop kicks on tv is one thing
BUT SEEING IT IN REAL LIFE.....OMG .ITS A JAW DROPPING EXPERIENCE.
THE SHEER SPEED /POWER..,,ITS LIKE WTF DID I JUST SAW..
A missed detail of the story is that this apparently took place in late 2006, i.e. only a few months after Cro Cop totally smashed Barnett for the THIRD TIME, and they still trained together and had a good time. Nice!
Crocop is one of my favorite fighters all time. dude started fighting late and destroyed people in his thirties
joe: 'what's your name?'
josh: 'josh'
joe: 'wow! crazy!'
😜😆
Cro cop the biggest MONSTER who did it
Josh Barnett is just Stone Cold Steve Austin with hair.
Đo,šta se čudiš? 😄
To je talenat mili...
Joe is a pussy
Ali nije potencijal
"đo" lol

CRO COP IS LEGEND WORLDWIDE!
'Yeah he crushed bob sapps eyeball'
Not only that Mirko is great fighter he is great person!
Josh Barnett is my favorite fighter because me and him have exactly the same taste in music
My man Josh wearing "Watain" tees. 🔥
Crazy how if the Gonzaga head kick never happened, Cro Cop would have gone on to fight Couture, and I think he beats Couture quickly, and becomes ufc champion. One kick changed the heavyweight division forever.
I cried when that happened. 😟
Huge Cro Cop fan here, but if I remember correctly wasn't he losing that fight pretty decidedly before that?
I still haven’t recovered
Most people don't know he came back years later to knockout Gonzaga
@@Dpend84 Those elbows from the guard were wicked!
Watain shirt. That's surprising to see 🤘🏻
One would expect Bolt Thrower.
I was just gonna comment on that. Didn't know he was into black metal too
@@deathmetaldownhiller7874 More have commented. So there's still hope left for humanity 😜
Great taste in music
Why ? Watain is mainstream af
Joe rogan: cro cop has the most devastating kicks ever!
Also Rogan: who kicked you the hardest ever?
Also joe rogan: guy with strongest powerkube kick
Joe “that’s the look of a man that’s killed someone with a knife” Rogan
I scrolled looking for this comment 😆
"Right leg hospital, left leg cemetery"
Hwam waap hwam Words to live by
Pride was and is still the best.
Yep
no k1 was best by far
Cro Cop vs Silva the most legendary mma fight ever
One of the best in his prime. Also a straight killer, literally.
Love the Watain shirt barnetts wearing 😁💪🤘
I appreciate how Josh says "Mirko" the way "Mirko" is supposed to be said.
Right Kick, Hospital
Left Kick, Cemetery...
Except Mark Hunt...
Right kick, hospital
Left kick..cemetery
Mark Hunt: CTE
here cause of a short
The short where Joe says about the stare down?
Same
He’s my favorite fighter in any combat sport! Legendary STRIKER!
I mean they called him CroCop for a reason. He was a trained killer
Love the Watain shirt on Josh, respect 🤘
@@YearsOVDecay1 That will make the 3 of us then. I just commented lol
Check out his gi. Loads of goatwhore, satanic warmaster, asphyx and such patches on it. Everybody else just rocks classic "Gracie jiu-jitsu" stuff
Whammm ! Flappp ! Blammm ! The most scariest sound ever.
I love it right leg hospital left leg cemetery😅😅😅😅
Wanderlei’s stare was scary…. Cro cops stare was like…. ‘I’ve killed people’
Trying to remember who it was who said something to the effect of "wanderlei looked like he was about to kill someone, cro cop looked like he just did"
Wanderlei was a LHW and Mirco was a heavy weight at that time, at least 20 lbs difference
@@tma1339 Silva was heavier in that fight. How about that... Go check it out
@@ukvu you’re right, I’ve checked. Well interesting because they used to fight in different divisions. Anyways, both monsters, although with regards to technique Mirco was a better fighter, but Vanderlei was definitely fun to watch. Thanks for the heads-up
He did not kill anyone chill out...
I remember they interviewed Josh after his fight with crocop at final conflict 2006 when he tapped out on the ground after eating a massive punch... he said something to the effect of "I didn't want to get my head kicked into the 3rd row of the stands"
Pride was better than UFC
Not even close.
Boycott USADA! Hey hey, I thought this was AMERICA?!
Not really
cro cop is such an og legend, that he even fought andi hug back in the day.
this guy looks like jan blachowich mixed with stipe lol
You sir, are an absolute legend of MMA. Balls to the wall, hard man. I salute you. Respect. 👊
Badass I didn't realize he was a legit fan of death/black metal. Sure looks like a Watain shirt he's got on
Yup, it is indeed.
I'm a big Crocop fan. Josh Barnett is pretty dang funny! Good storyteller.
I trained at the same gym as Josh and Erik also trained me as well. They’re both great guys and super nice
Cro cops scariest knock out for me is the bob sapp knock out, smashing a mans face with one punch
I love that he's wearing a Watain shirt...
Me too, gotta respect that 🤘
Josh Barnett is one of my all-time favorite fighters!
Can we please focus that the dude is wearing faking WATAIN t-shirt!!! legend
I changed this guys tire hahah, I had no Idea who he was until a fan came and told me.
