The actor who plays Pan is amazing, at 0:29 especially. He actually sounded like rumple does when he makes threats --perfect to show their father and son
This scene was so powerful and it was such an epic moment for Rumple. He essentially sacrificed himself, saving them all, and it really showed how far he had come as a character. I really have to admit I'm disappointed by where they took him from season 4 and on. I couldn't even tell you exactly where I feel they went wrong, but for those first three seasons Rumple was probably my favorite character on the show. Then he married Belle, and it went straight back to constant lies and manipulation. I understand that old habits die hard and I figured that Rumple couldn't make a complete reversal. After all, one of my favorite things about Rumple is his moral ambiguity. He always has his own agenda. That's his thing. But I feel like they went overboard and turned his character from something that was developing beautifully into something tedious. I mean, how many times have Belle and Rumple broken up and gotten back together? Their dynamic was fantastic early on in the show and now... oh, the drama. It's tiring. And Rumple can't seem to make any lasting connections because he ultimately betrays everyone. Rumple likes his power and being in control. That's important to his character. But I honestly don't like the way the writers have gone about it these last couple of seasons. I don't really like watching the same old same old coming up over and over again. And it makes me sad, considering how attached I was to him in the first three seasons. Don't get me wrong, Robert Carlyle still performs magnificently as Rumple, but... the writing... meh.
It's cause from Season 1- this episode you can say its all been Rumple's story. He manipulates the entire cast to find his son and beating Pan (the person he fears most) allowed him to go past being a coward and be a hero. After this there isn't really much point to him staying in storybook except Belle.
Yes... I agree. The second half of season three really screws him up. I mean, he's manipulated and tortured by Zelena after coming back from the dead, shares a body and a consciousness with his son for months, and then loses his son forever. I can understand why he would be lost after that, not knowing where to turn. But I'll be the first to admit that I think Rumple has been sorely underutilized for the past two seasons. He's certainly a lot less interesting, in my opinion...
Supreme Overlorde I blame Zelena. Everything in this show was going fine (character development, world building, Disney Universe integration) until the Whiny Bitch of the West showed up.
I think him going back was a good thing, he has a hard time changing truely, and with this last season is gonna be his last, in Season 7 its made his run even more beautiful with the most recent episode, ?Rober Carlyle has confirmed this is his last season, and its gonna feel like something is missing without him when he is gone.
It was due to him being manipulated by zelena which brought him back to his villainous self and also losing his son for good this time. So i dnt think his character was ruined it was well done
Am I the only person that cried for Rumple?! I mean I loved Peter- don't get me wrong but RUMPLE! I cried my heart out for him. Rumplestilskin is seriously my favorite character in Once Upon A Time. If he stayed dead I honestly don't know what I would have done.
An extremely powerful scene. Rumple/Mr Gold has always been one of my favourite characters. This scene shows how far he has come and is full of emotion.
It’s kinda sad when you think about both of Rumples parents giving him up for power and then him doing the same to bae. But in all with everything he went through to get his “happy ending” I’m glad he got it.
Rumple's mother became the Black Fairy out of a desperation to keep him safe. Only to find out that she was one of his biggest threats. His father became Peter Pan out of selfishness and a slightly veiled hatred for Rumple. But, yes once they became powerful they were willing to sacrifice anyone that got in their way including Rumple.
@@kcwade2616 And even then, when you see Malcolm/Pan in "The Black Fairy" you can see how initially he was so happy to have a son - it's just when Fiona disappears that the hate sets in.
This entire scene is everything. Amazing, kind, sweet, heart breaking, wrenching. The list goes on. But everyone’s reaction...man... Snow covering her face, Neal just kinda still in shock and Belle falling to her knees 😭
2:11 Someone on tv tropes pointed out that by Rumple skewering them both makes Pan the new Dark One only to be killed by the dying former one, with both dead, the Dark One cycle is cancelled out.

Not sure, but since Rumple was holding Pan when his shadow fused back with him, it also fused with Pan. I think Rumple and Pan kind of fused, to put it simply.
This is where Rumple’s story should have ended. This capped off a perfect story of redemption for a villain. It was beautiful, it was perfect stopping right here.
Yes but instead they were forced to backtrack one episode later, just because without Robert to carry there was no show, I would have been personally fine if they ended the whole show there
This scene is why, no matter what Rumple does through out the rest of the show, I will always love him. This is one of the first times we see that Rumpel is willing to sacrifice. Yes, in more recent episodes he's misguided, but can you blame him? He sacrifices over and over and what happens? Niel dies, Belle leaves him, his family keeps going on suicide missions. he man can't catch a break no matter what he does, but he keeps trying.
Pan was an outstanding villain. Very well acted as well, which stood out because only 4 other people in this show could act their way out of a paper bag. As soon as he was dead, the show went SPLAT for me.

Heres my theory: Rumple did not truly die because he came back, therefore Pan could have also returned and found his way back to Neverland, or found another way to make himself young again, I don't really know but he can't be dead, it wouldn't be fair.
Because he tied their souls together, I'm pretty sure based on the actions of the shadows in that one part of neverland, and what that one shadow did to Blue the fairy, that shadows are magical manifestations of a soul's energy outside of their physical body, and their heart, and since Pan lost the manifestation of his soul's energy, and since he wasn't being sustained by Neverland's magic anymore, when Rumple made his shadow bind with both of them, they were now tied to the same energy, which Rumple severed, killing them both
+Tasha Ayerz They couldn't. For the story line, what Wendy said, if Pan lives, Henry dies. I don't think they' re gonna kill one of the main characters.
They will soon be delving into Rumplestiltskin's past again and will find out how Peter Pan became Rumple's father. He will return, but as an adult, which was before he became a boy again.
so we met his father, Peter pan, and his mother, the black fairy, who's his brother, Casper the friendly ghost, I mean if he has a brother, Casper is who I'd pick
I really loved this season, like many others, but I do wish Rumple was dead for a whole season, I just think even though he was a good villain, he needed to have a break at some point
It was the separation of Pan and Rumple that gave him his power, so dying together reunites them, thus cancelling out the Pixie Dust's magic and allowing Pan to be mortal and therefore, able to die. That's my only guess.

Because he tied their souls together, I'm pretty sure based on the actions of the shadows in that one part of neverland, and what that one shadow did to Blue the fairy, that shadows are magical manifestations of a soul's energy outside of their physical body, and their heart, and since Pan lost the manifestation of his soul's energy, and since he wasn't being sustained by Neverland's magic anymore, when Rumple made his shadow bind with both of them, they were now tied to the same energy, which Rumple severed, killing them both
I really want to go to NEDERLAND so I can meet Peter pan and LOST
BOYS
I think it was stupid they made Pan die. They could of at least tried to change him!
+Tasha Ayerz They couldn't. For the story line, what Wendy said, if Pan lives, Henry dies. I don't think they' re gonna kill one of the main characters.
true
Tasha Ayerz Yeah, but it would been amazing if he came back.
They will soon be delving into Rumplestiltskin's past again and will find out how Peter Pan became Rumple's father. He will return, but as an adult, which was before he became a boy again.
+Powerranger6342 What is this episode going to be called and will Rumple's mother be introduced?
so we met his father, Peter pan, and his mother, the black fairy, who's his brother, Casper the friendly ghost, I mean if he has a brother, Casper is who I'd pick
Truly a dark family
The thing is that now I like villains. But when they die. It makes me want to hurt the hero.
"i love you bae and i love you belle"
they are what than rumple loves the most in his life
I really loved this season, like many others, but I do wish Rumple was dead for a whole season, I just think even though he was a good villain, he needed to have a break at some point
Is anyone gonna explain WHY rumple had to die for pan to die? Why couldnt he have stabbed just pan? EXPLAIN!
He's alive
ik but he was dead at first and then ressurected
So once again. WHY!?!?
George Dawson I don't know why either! I didn't get that bit... Apart from to make it more dramatic and sad I don't get it...
It was the separation of Pan and Rumple that gave him his power, so dying together reunites them, thus cancelling out the Pixie Dust's magic and allowing Pan to be mortal and therefore, able to die.
That's my only guess.
😭PETER PAN IS GONE
I don't think the dagger was long enough to fatally stab both of them.
awe he kissed old pan on head
I wanna know why Granny is there??
Mini Winchester granny is the one who used her wolf senses to track down Henry, after he returned to his own body.
Who else is glad that Peter pad is an season five
PAN IS SO CUTE !!!!!!!!
Die Szene ist sehr spannend geworden. Man wusste nicht wie es geht... 😬
2:42 - Too close x'DD
It's crazy that he's coming back in session 5 (second half)
Noooooo no more cute peter pan😭😭😭😭😭
