  • XAOC Devices Odessa is a - wait for it - Variable Spectrum Harmonic Cluster Oscillator. An interesting FPGA based module. Edd takes us on a 5 Minute journey through it's sonic landscape.
It uses the principle of additive synthesis controlled by a set of carefully tailored macro parameters to harness thousands of sinusoidal partials that altogether form the resulting sound. The series of harmonics can be squeezed or spread apart, tilted, and pruned by a comb-like frequency response, resulting in a variety of unearthly sounds. Furthermore the VCO provides Through-zero linear FM and detuneable clusters of up to five voices.

Amazing possibilities. Both clean and complicated sound. Added bonus: no blinding blue leds whatsoever!

Troy Pryor I haven’t use expander much cuz I got Qubit Chords v2 for chord progression. I use Odessa mostly on lead and arpeggios.

Hi, really nice sounds. But i don't understand how does the expander Hel is connected ? And what is his function(s). Polyphony because your sequence is with 5 notes at each trig ?

@@sonicstate Props for bringing it back. I am looking forward to the UDO Super 6 review whenever you guys get your hands on the finished product, and the Pro 3 of course.

I love XAOC modules but the Odessa hurts my ears. Those high end frequencies are so harsh.

It's an oscillator, not a complete synth. You are supposed to filter it just like you do with your standard VCOs
