Turbo Ls vz ss commodore build ep7 custom single piece tailshaft

  • A build series modifying my vz ss with turbocharger system, th400 transmission, fuel system, brakes, suspension. EP7 we upgrade the standard tailshaft with a single piece and diff yolk upgrade aswell.

      Nevs 8 I originally thought change the front on the stock shaft to suit the th400 and it’ll be good to go but no way . I learnt a lot aswell and I’m happy to pass on anything new I learn .

    Vt s2 v8(ls1) was a m80 4 bolt flange. Last time I removed a diff pretty sure we loosened/removed the cradle bolts and let the crossmemeber hang down a bit for access. Also I have swapped the flange and just 4 ugga dugga'd it up

      n12sumfin ok good to know now that s2 Vt was a cross breed of diff/flanges haha . It’s pretty easy to get to those top bolts for the diff so you can save a little work next time and just leave the cradle bolted up . As for the 4 ugga Duggar’s that’s a classic and probably would of been fine.

    Great job on the video. I own a VZ Commodore v6 Ute that is constantly breaking the front rubber couplings. Being an old fella I’m not hard on the car at all. Been looking at going to a 1 piece tail or even a billet coupling. Very helpful video thanks.

      Michael 721 haha slow down mate there is a bunch more episodes before the turbo startup . Let’s enjoy the journey and not rush it haha I suppose it’s easy for me to be patient because I can go jump in the tonner and give it a rip to satisfy my ls turbo needs .

      Anything is possible mate I won’t be able to afford to continually build my own cars but I really enjoy doing these projects so who knows what the future could hold . I do have a subscribers/friends car to do some work to very soon putting a top mount blower on a ls1 I’ll do a short build series on that something different to look forward to aswell

    Mate of mine went to states and took his sons to top fuel , and reckon it just goes straight thru you when they launch.

      @@LatysGarage i can only imagine, i go to the drags here in Taupo NZ, every summer and if someone runs in the nines i get excited, lol. I would be happy with 12s, im building a vx hsv senator, vs racing 7875, pac 1218s, in tank 450lph, sloppy stage two cam, sbe 5.3 ls truck motor through t56, i would prefer auto but the car i bought came as factory manual so just gonna roll with that, so pleased to have found your channel im a carpenter so need all the help i can get lol, what you are showing on your channel is exactly what i needed to see thanks for sharing, huge help bro.

      Clint Collins hey mate I’m a carpenter aswell I’m glad my videos help you out . Your senator will be fast it’s very similar to another build I filmed on my channel it’s a Vy one tonner Ute it runs a sbe 5.7 , T56 stock cam , pac springs , vsracing billet 78/75 , vsracing 44 waste gate etc pretty much a typical no bs sloppy combo and it’s super fun on e85 and 10ish pounds of boost. If you haven’t seen the build yet you should you’d probably love it just head to my TH-cam home page and go to playlists you can’t miss it .

    Hey mate loving your videos, I am starting to convert my VY sv8 auto to a th400. I am getting my box and tail shaft built interstate is there any chance you could tell me the length of your tail shaft from the centers of the uni’s please?

      Latys Garage thanks heaps mate, I’m doing the flange on the pinion same as yours. Starting the build in a couple of weeks, I have been onto kustom ls looms and getting my loom and ecu sorted out. Thanks heaps again mate 🤙🏻

    Love watching your vids. Just one question. The gear set in the m80 has an extended end on the pinion that extends out the front through the front yoke. How did they fit the vt yoke. Did they cut that part of the pinion off. Otherwise i cant see how they could use the old style yoke.

      A crewman is longer possibly pushing the max length limit of a single piece tailshaft and the diff yolk is certainly different .
