I have to disagree with all the critics, I think this song is awesome! I was head banging and foot tapping the whole time. Everyone has their opinions though ;)
If you are still clinging to old Machine Head you are missing out. I love their old stuff but this band has been one of the gems in metal that continues to put out good albums for 25+ years now!
borgwir Crawl out of your own ass dude, instead of cheating why not listen to the lyrics and try guess what it's about! then in a later date do research on the song if you need to. Sorry about late reply Ivan Klaric i was at work once you replied
Listened to it once, was a bit offput. Listened to it again, started feeling it a bit more. Listened to it again but LOUDER, and I fucking LOVED every second!
Verse wise it kind of reminds me of Wolves I dont know why. So far its the weakest song out of the three but that doesn't mean its bad because its not. I didnt like the section just before the 4 minute mark. The solo was great although it could have had a better build up to compliment it more. Still love the track though! Bring on Bloodstone and Diamonds!
What do people expect from this band? I mean, come on, they can't release a "Blackening" every two years, is stupid. Yes, it is, a great album, and it was the reason I started to listen to them, but they can't stay there. And these two last albums are very good too. I made a playlist, of these last three albums, and yes, you can tell some differences, but they all maintain the same amount of good quality, heaviness and metal once they grow on you. If you compare MH to Trivium, you would realize that MH is still doing a great job. I used to hate this band, and since TB I've been listen to them, and so far they haven't let me down.
It's ok, but i far prefer 'Now We Die' and 'Killers and Kings'. In this it sometimes feels that Rob tries to cram in too many syllables, and the song becomes repetitive after a few listens. The solo section is cool though.
I've got really mixed feelings about this album. Killers & Kings was really mediocre, Now We Die was really good and this is something in between. Still hope the rest is at least on the level of Now We Die. But on the other hand, you can't have every album as epic as The Blackening.
I'm just a poor french worker and I need the lyrics to understand what he's talking about. I don't understand why so much people says it's about Manson. In Europe, "Night of Long Knives" took place when nazis killed other nazis for Hitler wanted the power and nobody to dispute him.
I'm sorry but this album sucks so far. It just sounds to me like they ran out of ideas. I loved blackening and locust and was really stoked for this album. Dammit.
Nice riffs, very good chorus and middle part. What I dislike is production - its too damn loud, especially with Rob's vocal screaming the hell out in the verses. I wish it had the production of TTOAE and The Blackening. No I don't want this album to be copy of them, but those albums weren't so damn loud and just sounded good and propably it (production) could bring more for the atmosphere for this song if done right. Anyway, not bad song, but I need time to adapt this new style.
Folks! what the hell are you talking here ... In Flames and other bands .... Machine Head is Machine Head !!! and what I've heard so far sounds damn good \m/ !!! BRAVO!
I love MH. I have been a massive fan ever since I bought Burn My Eyes when I was 16. I will always be a fan. However, I'm slotting this album in just above Supercharger and moving on. Hopefully a kick ass return similar to 'Ashes' awaits.
Robb usually writes amazing lyrics but these ones seem so cringey and childish. Although to be fair, they're about the Manson murders after all. Embarrassing lyrics but the music is still great, looking forward to the album!
i kinda think this is good, weird never heard this style before..what i thought motley crue rocked...these guys are hard rock for sure..quite angry but that's likely not their intent.I am not offended. This is weird progressive punk...fuk it i am evil now
So there is a band named deep purple and they have a great album actually one of the best in the universe the album named machine head just like this band so i tought this band will be good and i was fucking wrong. you guys need to listen to the album machine head not the fucking band!!!
Generally it's a good song, but a bit monotonous, and the solo part is very similar to the solo from Halo. The other songs I've enjoyed, this one not so much.
I'm a huge MH fan but this feels really disjointed and overworked. It could be three or four separate songs. The intro was fantastic but it jumps all over the place and there's very little linking each part together. I'm still super psyched for the album, though.
The beginning, chorus and the solo section is good but the rest of the song is a bit of incoherent in comparison to other machine head songs.. pretty disappointed. Now we die is the best song off of the new record so far.
Some good grooves and beats in this one but overall it's just MH going through the motions. The song lacks coherence, to many parts just added one after the other and they are not all that memorable or original either: The main riff starting at 1:00 or so for example sounds like a mixture of Cro-Mags "Crush the demoniac" and Venoms "Witching Hour". 5:44 to 5:48 could be made into a seperate killer song!
Surprisingly I´m kind of impressed with the lyrics. It seems a bit more thoughtfull and in depth than other songs MH did before. As a german however I have to wonder if they knew what the night of long knives actually is. Because I don´t think that a murder of six is really comparable to the beginning of the holocaust. In case you don´t know what I mean: The night of long knives, or Nacht der langen Messer in this case is a term that is synomynous with the Reichspogromnacht in November 1938, which was the beginning of the official and open persecution of jews in germany. With over 400 people killed or driven into suicide and more than 1400 synagoges burning. I have to wonder if there is any kind of connection or if the title is just a coincidence.
so true. I'm listening this album and I must say, MH ruin everything what they build since 2003. Bloodstone & Diamonds is a shit like supercharger and numetal shits which I don't want to remember.
hmmm I'm not sold.... I much preferred their older stuff, burn my eyes/imperium/blackening had much more longevity than I think this album will have. all of their albums have been rather disappointing since the blackening imo. still it's better than most of its rivals!
black methodical metal has a lot more appeal to me nowadays. if your looking for something new if you don't think this album is that great then try listening to gorgoroths latest album, or dimmu borgir/old man's child. or if black metal is not your thing then try naglfar/nile/lamb of God. behemoth arnt bad either. the singers arnt great but their music is awesome. or if you like ultimate cheese then go for children of bodom or amon amarth >'_
I dig it, but the part from 3:28 to 3:56 sounds like "Locust" and "Darkness Within" combined, and the part from 4:20 to 4:37 sounds like the bit from the solo of "Halo" before the quiet part after. Still, I like this one more than "Killers & Kings". I found that song underwhelming since at first it sounded to me like a weaker variant of "Clenching the Fists of Dissents". "Now We Die" is a pretty song, though. I would have preferred a lyrics video.
As a BIG Fan of Burn my Eyes and Through the Ashes of Empires I regret the Pre-order. This and the 2 other Songs sounds like Trash instead of THRASH! -.-
I apologize if I was a little crappy .... everyone has a right to an opinion but I think that this album will be an excellent album thanks to this varieties of songs, these violins and melodic parts ... bringing something new does not mean it is bad, anyway rock on friends because it is worth the trouble :)
I have to disagree with all the critics, I think this song is awesome! I was head banging and foot tapping the whole time. Everyone has their opinions though ;)
This song has something special to it. My favourite track so far ;)
+Algastar MH always heavy as hell but throwing something different at you
Because you want see they come
My God, there is no let up from this band. Everything I have heard from this album slays all.
All the other girls I know are fangirling over Justin bieber and one direction then there's just me here like fuck yes this album
+LlamaDelRey a rare thing indeed
I must be incredibly lucky, neither myself nor my other female friends like Bieber 😂
If you are still clinging to old Machine Head you are missing out. I love their old stuff but this band has been one of the gems in metal that continues to put out good albums for 25+ years now!
Power. Yeah. That is fucking awesome.. I think the new Slayer and Machine Head album will be legendary !
You were right
New CD of Slayer? I don't think so :'(
@@bartoszidkowiak1629 there was a new one few years back, the comment was before that
One of my favourite songs!
Machine Head is great
let's see how often we can re-use the same 5 pictures until someone notices it...
so how about you go write an amazing fucking track like this and direct your own fucking video chief
i didn't say anything about the song...but the video was just lazy
Dennis Trovato Apparently you don't know what a Visualizer is.
i do. and this one got boring after repeating itself 3 times
Dennis Trovato Visualizations repeat....
Machine Fucking Head
This is sick! Pretty fucking sick.
I'm not as disappointed as I expected to be, I actually quite like this song and the others, unlike the new In Flames album which is absolutely SHIT
Agreed on the In Flames album. What a pile of garbage.
Agreed.
Sounds of a playground fading was very underrated imo, but the last two are bad
I grew up listening to MachineHead. I love it.
Just a wild guess but sounds like this was wrote about Charles Manson?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_of_the_Long_Knives You're welcome :)
just google for once...and dont think about the one everyone is thinking off^^
Ivan Klaric
It's about Manson murders.
Milan Velaja Yeah got it now. I thought it was about the Night of long knives because of the title. Didnt hear the lyrics clearly, thanks anyway :)

Can't wait to get Bloodstone & Diamonds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reminds me a bit of The More Things Change... in terms of dark tone and thick guitar riffs at a blistering pace.
Do we know what their new masks looks like yet?
... what? You got the wrong video, this isn't Slipknot
hahahahaha
They look like a big dildo
Sounds cool. Should rename it " Night of Long Forks" though. That was one big looking fucking fork.
love this song soo much
I love it too
It's ok, but i far prefer 'Now We Die' and 'Killers and Kings'. In this it sometimes feels that Rob tries to cram in too many syllables, and the song becomes repetitive after a few listens. The solo section is cool though.
MH out doing themselves....FUCK IS THIS SHIT HEAVY!
Qué significan todas las visualizaciones y esa simbología ocultista con la casa y el sujeto que pasa en la televisión?
this is a excellent Metal album \m/
Why do people judge an album by one song? *facepalm*
Best Monday ever!
HELLLLL YEAHHHHHHHHH! NIGHT OF FUCKING LONG KNIVES

u g=heard it oncve :D give it one mroe time :D
I totally agree with you hope the rest of the album sounds more cohesive
Yeah, the intro build up to something really awesome, but the following riff is a bit cliché. They could have done better.
The melodic parts aren't great. And I guess the song could be a little bit shorter. But I'll buy the CD and listen to it more and more times.
cant wait to see these guys at roundhouse london! best fucking thing ever to happen to england! machine fucking head!
Rad...! expected nothing less...i effin luv it ...! MH rips shit \m/
I want a lyric video, please! !
Loved the blast beats and death metal riffs in this song. But still not as good as The Blackening and Unto the Locust.
The beginning, chorus and the solo section is good but the rest of the song is a bit of incoherent in comparison to other machine head songs.. pretty disappointed. Now we die is the best song off of the new record so far.
Nuclear Blast killed my music ..again!:( just "songs" ..nothing more
How do you keep making songs that just blow my fucking mind?! It's incredible
Fucking awesome.
grew up on this shit. and unsane.
wue the night flan not
Best song so far...Classic Machine Head melodies and a perfect chorus...
Perfect.
the beginning has a cool oldschool MH vibe - but the ruined it with these generic melodies
This entire album fucking rocks! Hasn't left my car since day 1
Some good grooves and beats in this one but overall it's just MH going through the motions. Cro-Mags for the win
Sounds like Ektomorf at the beginning ;)
Why was this song named after a Nazi operation but have no Nazis
Love it! Probably my favourite track.
Haven't heard a reason yet to why i should bye this album
Fucking heavy, almost perfect!
One of the best songs ever.

With over 400 people killed or driven into suicide and more than 1400 synagoges burning.
I have to wonder if there is any kind of connection or if the title is just a coincidence.
My thoughts exactly. But I'm pretty sure they didn't have that in mind. Awesome song, though! Can't wait to see them live... \m/
I thought it was to do with the political murders that took place in Germany in 1934. Murders of various SA members, left-wing nazis and anti-nazis.
Originally yes, but it is used for both. The german neo nazi scene isn´t that big in logic.
Oliver HxC Okay, but the song sounds like it uses the 1934 incident more for inspiration to describe Charles Manson's killings.
I think the song sounds more like it doesn´t talk about germany in the 1930s at all.
Can't wait to sing this song in 2 week in Madrid, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!
E uma noite dessas aqui em SP pqp!!
Don't look into his eyes!! \m/
Comments for Kaleidoscope brought me her.
Round 3: Now it feels like 3 different kinds of songs
I feel like the only one here that likes the song... Like A LOT.
Nice song! Great work guys you deserve it!
They will never get even close to Davidian :(
Cool... Very fitting...
it will take a HUGE album to beat burn my eyes...
They beat BME three or four times already.
One of the best debuts ever, but it's also rather one-dimensional.
Yeah, just an opinion.
+Iain Love Already beaten to death: The Blackening, Unto The Locust and Bloodstone&Diamonds beat BME to the dust
Why they use everytime the illuminati symbols?
Why does that look like Chester Bennington in the video
fuck what a song this is the could be on burn my eyes
not bad, but nothing wow! I hope the album is better
It is such a powerful song until the chorus. The melodic parts always ruin everything!!! -_-
edit 7/11/2014: haters R hatin'! xD
We must be listening to a different song then you because the melodic parts are just as bad ass
Good for you.
well, the melodic parts of the machine head songs are the special parts of the songs for me...they make the songs better, not worse imo ;)
so true. I'm listening this album and I must say, MH ruin everything what they build since 2003.
