I love this game so much, I remember always playing the demo on my 360 because I couldn’t afford the actual game, since I was in middle school, but as soon as this dropped on midnight, I immediately bought it. I’m loving every single minute of it and it’s just as awesome as I remembered
I remember back as a kid playing this demo and castle crashers demo, 10 years later I own them both now

Even after these 10 years this game hasn’t changed one bit, or aged badly. It’s a classic that still holds up for beat em up fans like myself. It’s still fairly difficult with parts that require you to grind constantly, but does not take away from the entertainment.
ubisoft has an online issue. all of their games seem to have it. Monopoly, wheel of fortune, just dance..all bad when it comes to online
You just named three games I would not have thought had online play. Maybe Ubisoft's issue comes from stuffing online functionality into dance games and board games. A side scrolling beat-em up I understand having online play, but wheel of fortune? That's gotta be awful losing to someone you can't even see. Have you ever actually finished a Monopoly online game, or do people just quit when you get the good monopolies?
@@redlion145 Umm why exactly wouldn't you want online for games like wheel of fortune or monopoly that are strictly about playing with other people? That's just dumb, the only one that doesn't make much sense is just dance, everything else is like yeah of course.
I havnt played the board games apart from Uno which was pretty solid online and I've never had any issue with the division.
@@ChaosBadger777 i didnt have as big of an issue with uno either. the rest....horrbible...the games will even switch your internet to inoperable then you have to call the provider and have them "tinker". it happened enough to where I looked it up and a lot are having same issue. its been for years to so I dont understand why ubi cant just address the issue.
@@redlion145 well, when it did work, it wad pretty fun, most of the time I played with my at the time girlfriend...ahhhh the regrets in life...haha....like monoploly and wheel was cool because we loved an hour away so sometimes I would stay at my house and we both had a switch so it was cool...sometimes I would play randoms...its fun. but now wheel and monopoly have no online functionality at all (well at least for me) when all my other games work just fine online. extra note...I JUST GOT SCOTT PILGRIM YEAHHHHHHHH!!!! cant wait to play it when I get off work. iw as waiting and waiting and waiting for this game this last few months after giving up hope of ever playing it before then Nintendo said it would be out holiday season but it wasn't. now its out. something to look forward to when I get home

As someone who recently played both this and River City Girls (and Ransom), I appreciate that reference.
Limited run is the 2nd biggest bullshit i've ever seen next to "Buying a physical release and have to download the other half digitally"
Why the hell publishers can't release a proper physical release with a decent amount of copies?

@@grantmortensonva shipping to overseas can add a fair bit to the overall cost. Getting it physically would cost me around 3x the digital price. And a big publisher like Ubisoft has no reason to distribute it with Limited Run

i think theres only 2 problems with this otherwise amazing game.
1, unless you grind the first level at least about 2-3 times and know where to get the bionic arm, the third boss will wreck you if you havent been investing.
2. the final level. it's great, don't get me wrong, but you fight gideon a total of three times. and any of them could be the final boss. and you don't fight him back to back. instead, you fight him roided up, then get sucked into his head, then fight the kefka/safer sephiroth ripoff, then go through a technodrome ripoff, THEN engage in a swordfight, and THEN punch the real gideon in the face.
it isnt the fact that we have to fight him three times, but the fact that each phase has like an entire stage sandwiched between them. it just kinda drags and overstays its welcome.
Still having nightmares about that last level 😱
I have so much to play right now but I'll definitely grab this down the road when ubi does their inevitable sale.

Had seen Zion's video on Scott Pilgrim earlier and, given how excited he was for the game, it's fitting that he's doing the final review.
I played this for years during middle/high school. Never had friends to play it with. Still had a blast.

My daughter is 9 and we played River City Girls. She absolutely loved that game and we beat it so many times that she memorized all the dialogue. Will this be something she'll also enjoy? Thanks

Say, what is the most optimal button mapping for the Switch, and on which controller? I think _B_for jumping; _A_ for fast attacks; _X_ for strong attacks; _R_ for blocking; and _ZR_ for special moves on the pro controller works best.

I love this game! River City Girls is also awesome. It's similar to Scott Pilgrim The Game check it out as well if you like this style of beat em up with leveling up and shops. River City Girls also has comedy and a good soundtrack.

Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds is also a good beat-'em-up if you like Scott Pilgrim and River City Girls.

This is a upgraded version of a classic game for the original Nintendo (NES) called River City Ransom.

I actually prefer having a cartridge, because if there's an issue, the proof is usually in the cartridge, where you're more unsure what the problem is if it's digital (is it me, or their server?).
That doesn't make any sense. Games on disc and games on download use the same servers. If a digital game crashes, it's a sure thing the game has coding problems because there is no disc scratches to worry about.
I am waiting for my physical copy to come in the mail still but it’ll be very soon when I get it. I’m still hyped as all hell to finally dig into this game again. I only played it on a friend’s system year ago and never got it myself. Was a fun game then, prolly still is now
I can resume Scott Pilgrim in a nutshell: Castle Crashers for not-so-hipsters. (No offense for neither Scott Pilgrim The Game or Castle Crashers.)
They should improve the online and maybe make the Extra Game Modes have online functionality as well, Imagine how sick it would be.

Revisiting Scott Pilgrim remind me of everyone loves the game for the soundtrack. You really playing the same 3 levels.. maybe 5 with co-op until you made enough money to pay Scott's Insanely Fees to unlock a way better experience. It's a rough time especially after playing Mayhem, River City Girls, and Fignt N Rage. Which are recent indies Beat Em Ups front runners

I do not understand why Beat em ups can't add AI allies. 10 years ago I was playing this game thinking to myself, if only solo mode had the option for AI allies.
I also wish in the post Castle Crashers world that games would have the mode with levels and the mode with no real level/stats and real balance but easy afternoon playing. That's the only reason I go back to true beat em ups over and over again a few times a decade: you can beat them in an afternoon.

If you will want to get to level 16 in one day read this I recommend changing your left stick dash I'm not sure this will work for the NS but just try ok First Step beat Stage 1 then go to the shopping district then buy a coffee at the cafe then do this Hold the a button then do this Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right Block then you will lose all of your HP and GP but you will get 50$ then then repeat the process then try to get 504$ go to No Account Video then buy Scott's Late Fees only buy 2 Movies Seven Shaolin Masters, Alone and Disturbed buy the SSM 10 times to max out your stats and buy AAD to get level 16 also you probably need an extra 50$ to buy em that's all then you beat people around get the ending you want :)

Did anyone Notice the sound effects in the Game are Extremely low in volume? Music is fine & loud, but Not the sound effects. It's really annoying. You barely can hear coin collecting, sliding, jumps, pound jumps Etc
Didn't see it mentioned, but the art designer for this game is Paul Robertson (maybe one of the best known pixel artists)
And he's notable for providing animations for the Gravity Falls episodes "Fight Fighters" and "Soos and the Real Girl" along with various other notable commissions such as a few Adult Swim bumpers.
Ah yes, the good ol' "every beat em up is a button masher but not this one because it has rpg elements".

Is there an easy difficulty to play this Story mode for this game?
My reflexes are very slow at 39 years old. I do want to finish the game without having to die all the time.
There's three difficulties and even the lowest one can be a bit tough at the start I think.
You can grind and make it easier

Do we really lose skills and reflexes this early in life 😓?
Average joe is easy mode but you will want to level your stats in between to stat up to speed for the later levels

Did you play this in handheld mode at all? The screen keeps getting ripped up while I play and sometimes if I detach the joycons, my character wouldn’t budge until I put them back on the switch.
Also, I didn’t see any advertisements mention that you need a Ubisoft account to play as Knives. Very frustrating

I never played the original and just played through level 1 yesterday. I had a glitch with an invisible enemy preventing progress for a bit until I figured out what was doing on. Although nice to look out, it felt kinda clunky to me. Maybe because I didn't unlock all the advanced moves?
I'd get this game for the music alone.

In the game and movie at least, but Scott does some other things in the comics. It’s a shame how underrated of a medium comics are. They’re not that hard to read compared to novels.

This looks super fun.
you can buy all the upgrades & plenty of consumables actually....it's called GRINDING. every level can be infinitely replayed ( though overall progression IS tied to each character individually ) so you can farm any stage you like for XP and money to power up.
I just need to know if the Xbox & Playstation versions fixed the annoying achievement/trophy glitches from the 360 & PS3 versions ( Chaudown is infamous for refusing to pop....and It's All In The Reflexes, a DLC achievement for catching 25 thrown objects as Knives, got royally effed up for me as Microsoft used to have this retarded issue where earning DLC achievements before the WEBSITE was updated would require recovering your entire gamertag and re-doing the requirements for said achievements but due to how save data was handled with Scott Pilgrim the counter never reset and the achievement refused to re-unlock no matter how many objects I caught )

i watched it for the first time yesterday so i can go into the game knowing the characters this time and the film is now in my favourite films of all time now, right up there with Aladdin (1992) I adore the Scott Pilgram movie 😊
