So many well-constructed and passionate speeches at this event - but one can only hope that those attending ARE actually moved to be less cowardly and more vocal in opposing the headlong dash towards self-serving middle class wokery.
I frankly doubt it, but at least this event - hopefully staged annually hereafter - will provide a focus and an impetus for the few who value community and heritage over “status” - that huge gift which Big Tech has endowed us with.

There is a place for different teaching styles, but if we are going to pick the one that works for most, Ms Birbalsingh appears to have the bull by the horns. She raises people to not make excuses, be grateful for the wealth of education they receive and do something with it. A good school like hers is an island now. It used to be normal.

"The Greatest Love of All" was not originated by Whitney Houston, although her version became the best known. The song was written to accompany the end credits of a 1977 film called "The Greatest" about Muhammad Ali. George Benson originated the song. It's not a great example to use for the purpose here. It's a song about instilling in young (Black) children a sense of pride--and the primary message is "I believe that children are the future...teach them well, and let them lead the way." The chorus goes as follows: "I decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadow--if I fail, if I succeed, at least I lived as I believed." This song is actually about EDUCATING kids to understand where they come from, and to have pride in themselves, and to live according to their beliefs; i.e., personal responsibility. "Teach them well, and let them lead the way." Ms. Birbalsingh needs a different example.

This lady has it right on all counts and I really do admire her. Through years of inefficient governmentd, and now compounded by nascient wokeism, British seem to have forgotten what patriotism/nationalism is all about. Compared to other countries on the planet, the British are almost totally deficient in this domain. A campaign to re-galvanise this sentiment within Britain is urgently necessary and I al sure that this lady could be a pivotal element of such a campaign. In addition to thzt I just adore her style.

Like the use of the term “Liberal” in America, the Conservative brand in the UK has now been virtually stripped of all meaning and relevance.
Westminster “Conservatives” either need to re-embrace real conservatism VERY RAPIDLY, or the reasonable & largely unacknowledged majority of the country, need to rally around a new Nationalist movement which will uphold the values that the Tories have now retreated from.

I think the problem is the outdated words of the national anthem, which is about our unelected head of state. Other people have anthems about the country and its people. Personally, I'm very patriotic and incredibly conservative culturally; but I come from a dissenting background and don't acknowledge the legitimacy of an outdated and superannuated monarchy and the current oligarchic constitutional settlement. So I can hardly be expected to sing the national anthem with any enthusiasm, if at all.

My training was to operate without the cultural pillars of life. So that (with some hesitance) I didn’t even know what I didn’t know. I was also leftist. As an RE teacher one of my A level students once commented that she wanted to learn ‘IT’ instead of about ‘IT’. I had no answer. But I do now. I dropped the group thing and made them face me. In the U.S., especially, THE PROBLEM WITH THE SCHOOLS STARTS IN THE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES and TEACHER UNIONS, WHICH HAVE GOTTEN AN IRON-FISTED GRIP ON THE ("EDUCATION") INDOCTRINATION OF TEACHERS AT ALL LEVELS OF PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION. Teachers should be people who are trained and educated FIRST in some field of skill other than teaching, THEN vetted and trained in how to teach and mentor students. Too many (most) of our teachers today, HAVE NO REAL-WORLD, PRACTICAL SKILLS in any other field of study or endeavor, but are the product of the "progressive" (Marxist/Communist Ideology) indoctrination being pumped into their young skulls full of mush at the College or University level.
