    How's your electricity bill after using this stove?

    • @DriveWithVicky87
      @DriveWithVicky87  8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      My family consumes 12 LPG cylinders a year, we've cut down to 8 cylinders. We save 4 cylinders (cost of 1 cylinder is 14 dollars) so we save 56 dollars approx.
      My electricity bill is 2 dollars more than regular (this is avg after comparison of last 12 months bill). So the increase is 24 dollars.
      I saved 32 dollars in a year! That's the cost of this stove!!
      After a year, i sent it to my native place. We used firewood previously for heating water. since its inception in village, we saved lot of firewood. In-short it helped us go green..

    This Philips Induction cooktop. It is for International electric current? 110-volt to 240-volt? Which country were you in when you do this demo? It is for International electric current? 110-volt to 240-volt? Or it is only 240-volt.

      This is Indian version for 220-240 volts. Bought it from India. Here we have different socket pins (rounded ones) and voltage is different. If you buy in U.S, different current specifications.

      Make sure the utensil you use is compatible for induction cooking. It makes this sound when the system detects anything incompatible.

    • @capricorn1255
      @capricorn1255 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Read the instructions that came with your induction cooker. Your cookware needs to be compatible- iron/steel, cast iron, stainless steel with magnetic base, etc. Test with a household magnet. lf a magnet won't stick to your cooking utensil, it is not compatible. Most of these tpyes of cookware have an automatic safety feature that will switch the machine off if the wrong type of cookware is used. l've recently purchased one similar and absolutely love cooking with it. Much more efficient and energy saving than gas or electric.

    If India can produce cheap electricity at less than Rs.2.5 per unit then all major metro cities can go for electric cooking which will even help government do away from its subsidies. Or it each year GOI spends subsidy on cooking gas in setting up mega power plants and provide cheap electricity to consumers to use X power cooking within 3 years it can do away with its subsidy..

    Is it possible to cook lentils - slow cooking? Because I bought similar cooktop, and it was crap - I returned it to the store. At power level 2 out of 10 it was fast boiling for 2 seconds, after that it stands still and so on. It cooks on cycles and is too boiling even at slower power wattage. My lentils / beans is burnt from outside, but inside the bean it is hard. Is the same by you?

    • @susanagodinho1909
      @susanagodinho1909 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ajovev
      I also have one like that. Crap. Specially if you want to heat very small pans or even canned food. Wondering if this is similar. Did you find one that regulated power linearly?

    • @ajovev
      @ajovev 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Susana Godinho No, I haven't found. I don't have much experience with different models. I'm wondering the same question - is there a linear change. Maybe if there's one with rotating knob.

    • @susanagodinho1909
      @susanagodinho1909 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +ajovev My parents have a teka built in induction hob (the big ones good for four pans). I cant recall the model, but power delivery was linear down from 150W to 3KW. The design had an inner ring (2000W) and an outer ring, only activated for bigger pots (1000W), totaling 2 or 3KW depending on the pot size. It was controlled by touch buttons too.
      This is quite an issue as manufactures don't give any details and seems most cooktops are derived from the same version with a different control panel.
      My last portable cooktop had none of this like yours. It boils the water for a given amount of time and just idles after. Another important issue was the plastic under the ceramic plate melted. I could see some cracks outside, which I thought were normal. Only when I opened the unit to replace the fan (its now over 3 years old) I realized the plastic melted inside. The weaker area was what caused the outer frame to crack. I would be very aware of buying another plastic body unit if you're thinking about it.

    One problem with Induction hob through an inverter or generator is the way they heat at lower settings. Example Mine is a 2000w Phillips. If I select a 400w setting it doesn't offer a nice constant 400w of heating. It will turn on full 2000w 1/5th of the time that full 2000w is. What this does is cycle the inverter 2000w draw then off then 2000w then off continuously. This causes the generator to rev on the off on then off as it tries to keep up with the demands, Or cycle Inverter on then off continuously.

    *Yo Indians, listen up!*
    How you adopted the induction cookware this fast is amazing. But here's some things you've got to know that's much more important than energy conservation.
    Your local plumbing or the plumbing for your houses could be made of PVC...a very disgusting and probably the most poisonous plastic ever manufactured. It's like teflon but way worse, since it runs for hundreds of meters for water inlets etc...India is probably unaware as a whole to the dangers of PVC according to the lack of regulations and bans. India was listed as the number one place of PVC demands according to quick online searches...at least about a year ago.
    PVC can cause a whole lot of diseases from thyroid malfunction to hormone disruptions. It could certainly cause digestive issues and other problems that people ought to avoid on a daily basis. Not to mention, it's also a carcinogenic. Now they're pushing it in Africa. Just remove them from inlet plumbing and replace with HDPE/based pipes as much as you can, then notice the fast recovery from your existing illnesses. Also see how it can prevent illnesses! Be cautious around PVC...use it sparingly and only for drainage or non-consumption plumbing etc...May Jesus Christ bless you.

      What is also bad is a plastic tubing called Quest. After a few decades the plastic degrades and the pressure in the line will blow the pipe apart. It was only legal in the U.S. for a few years in the 70s, much like aluminum house wiring was. I watched a whole apartment complex get re-plumbed into copper, much to the relief of the maintenance staff.

      More than half of comments here are not by indians and dont speak/understand hindi.
      I know hindi but it would be foolhardy to assume everyone does.
      I will improve on my English though :)
