I would definitely pull the decomp and use some valve lapping compound on there to get a real good seal. That Polini kit is my fav but their heads and valves don’t make a great seal from factory
Lateral gas porting on a vespa? you might actually break 43. Also, its nice to torque the variator on with the motor out so the flywheel stays put when you go to install the motor! You did it right by accident.
Treatland.tv sells the kinetic cdi. I think lateral gas posting makes a difference. I feel that it cools the cylinder and allows you to run leaner without over heating.
Have you ever had the gas ports by the exhaust port get burnt? I've heard of the ring land getting burnt badly by the exhaust port do to the gas ports.
@@Corn-ped from extreme heat at the exhaust port. If you do some searching online you'll find where people talk about it. I also think it depends on how hard your pushing the engine. A 16:1, .01in squish 200psi cylinder pressure 15-16000rpm is going to be way more likely to burn a ring land through a gas port then a average build. On any of my high preformance 2t engines on the exhaust side of the piston right by the ring is always cooked brownish, I could see if there was a gas port there that it could catch more heat. Wish I could post pics in these comments.

The stock exhaust and small carb is holding it back. There is an FMF exhaust but it sucks. I would hack and weld a nice 65cc pipe to it and upgrade to a VM18 or PHBG 19 carb.
That nut and electrical tape trick for the decomp is freakin genius.

You don't need to float the ground on the lighting coil to run DC lights, but many people choose to do so. :)
I usually don't. I just wanted to do it on this build. I wanted full wave.
@@Corn-ped you can still do full wave without floating the ground of the lighting coil.
It doesn't really matter either way though.
Your old cases should have a rubber grommet for where the wires exit the case.
Yeah they do... But it was pretty bad.

Where did you get a kinetic cdi and stuf?
And does lateral porting make a diferenc?
Treatland.tv sells the kinetic cdi. I think lateral gas posting makes a difference. I feel that it cools the cylinder and allows you to run leaner without over heating.
Does the stock flywheel fit on the polini speed engine or is there a special one for that engine blocks?

I have not had that happen. Why would they get burnt?

Yes. You only use 1 ring when you do this.
