@keiviroque5666 Not everyone have that much free time. It's hardly likely for anyone to play the game chronologically when each game can take a hundred hours. So it's better off to start with something that can interest you and if it interests him that much that he would want to play the others...

If you're a casual player that wants more of a challenge, play SMT: Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2.
I love how quickly you picked up on the color schemes of the games and started identifying them from those cues - particularly when the trailer for the crossover game uses the colors from both and you were momentarily confused. Just goes to show how strong the visual identity of the Persona series became.
The cast of Persona 5 are essentially terrorists, however, they are very wholesome(only terrorists because they take on the government). (Also stealing stuff is basically their main thing)
To expand on that, they aren't needlessly violent or cruel in their actions. They aren't even necessarily anti establishment (except for maybe one particular member of the group). They only target people that abuse their power. They could really only be considered terrorists in a technical sense.

The main character from p4 isn’t “hero” it’s yu narukami (officially) but they call him hero right there because you have the choice to name him in the game

The concept of persona games is based on two things. 1. The literal definition of the word Persona. An aspect of ones self that they portray to others and the Greek origin of the word literally meaning mask. And
2. Jungian psychology. One of Jung's main theories is that people have a part of themselves that they not only don't like but just being aware of it causes you so much stress that you bury it in your subconscious. This is your shadow self.
So in the games there are areas where for lack of a better term the astral plane from X-Men bleeds through and meshes with the real world, shadows manifest physically as the monsters you have to fight and the heroes by accepting there shadows as a part them transform their shadows into personas that they can use to fight.

The chibi animation games are called Persona Q and Q2 they are crossover games with each other 3-5. That's why you see the cast of 3 and 4 in Q1 for example.
This might sound weird but the "guns" the P3 cast use on themselves is a GOOD thing. Even the dog has a version of it made just for him. Also I find it a little funny you ignored when the P5 protagonist ripped off his own face in the PQ2 opening, blood and all.

Persona 3: FES for PS2 was my first introduction to the series and it was love at first sight. It also gave me incentive to try out the main line Shin Megami Tensei games, which I also fell in love with.
The P3 Protag does indeed need help. Like desperate help. The pizza guy doesn't deliver to the moon and his psychotic girlfriend just keep bringing cards. Not even playing cards. Just cards.with fancy pictures on them. And the only other company he has is a giant egg that he can't even eat

Honestly now is the perfect time to get into Persona since Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal are on Steam, PS4/PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Switch. Plus the remake of Persona 3 called " Persona 3 Reload" is coming out very soon on PS4/PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
i feel like persona found its identity during and after the third game, with the previous ones looking in-line as a SMT spinoff
All of the singers are Asian, although they might sound other wise via rhythm or voice they are all asian who put dedication to their craft with learning english and singing in a variety of genres.
And They did FREAKING Amazing i downloaded most of the openings on Apple Music and have been singing them all day especially burn my dread and pursuing my true self 🙏🏾❤️

Fun fact about Q2. Not only is it a collab of 3, 4, and 5, _the soundtrack_ is too. Each game had a main singer, and Q2's opening is trio between them.
the butterfly is philemon, who only appears in persona and persona 2, from 3 on the butterfly is meant to symbolize philemon watching and choosing the new persona protag.

The games with the chibi grapgics are Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth and Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, and are a crossover between Persona 3-5 and my second favorite video game series of all time, Etrian Odyssey, known in Japan as Sekaiju no MeiQ (which is where the Q in Persona Q comes from), making the PQ duology two of my favorite Persona games. The first PQ has P3 & P4 characters and the second has P3, P4, & P5 characters
The Butterfly is Philemon. The main "good" force in the overarching Persona mythos. He appears so often in his butterfly form because he is observing humanity.
10:45 Lotus Juice is not in fact black, he's Japanese. BUT he did grow up in New York/New Jersey during the 80's, so he was kinda on the ground floor of early hip-hop.

If you want a genuine good order to play Persona I’d say play
Persona 4 Golden since it’ll hook you but is the “worst” gameplay wise, then play P5 Royal which will make you want to continue the series, then play Persona 3 Reload if you want what’s fresh and new. Personally, I’d take a gap in between the games and try Shin Megami Tensei 3 as it’s up there in quality. If you liked Persona 5 and want a gap in between P3R I’d say check out Persona 5 Strikers as it’s a genuinely good spin off with a good story to boot.
Edit: I’d say play Persona 2 duology if you fall in love as it’s got an absolutely bat shit plot that’s still incredibly good.

So @LeshawnKBM you have been wondering what the butterfly means in Persona. Well I can give a small explanation. In Japanese Symbolism, a butterfly means the personification of someone's soul. In Persona that means the soul has taken a form that awakens a Persona. The butterfly also corrolates to a character in Persona 1 and 2 called Philemon, while the butterfly still shows up in the other games, Philemon doesn't. Which in those games there are Velvet Room Attendents who are fragments of Philemon watching over the protagonists of each of those games.
Are you sure about that? Cuz literally P1’s whole butterfly shtick has to do with a CHINESE proverb. Unless you are trying to say China and Japan are the same thing.

Butterflies represent souls in many cultures. Some old Celtic and Gaelic legends say a butterfly (your soul) will fly out of your mouth when you die.
The proverb "I dreamt I was a butterfly" is Chinese, like the other guy said. It's about not knowing who your real self is because when you are in a dream you might be utterly convinced you are something or someone else, but then you wake as just a human and can feel lost. This is really good symbolism for the Persona series, which is all about examining your own soul and discovering/accepting various parts of yourself.

I've must have watched these intros a hundred times over and somehow they still give me chills, especially Burn my Dread and Wake up Get Up Get Out There. Wake Up Get Up Get Out there was my alarm all throughout High School and got me pumped to start my day and tackle the challenge every time.

persona is really an amazing game
Ok So about that persona 3 guns thingy... while normally it is strongly connected to the idea of unliving yourself, the symbolism and the message of persona 3 is on quite contrary side. Pointing an evoker at yourself and pulling the trigger is instead a reminder of one's mortality and a will to put your life on the line to fight for a thing that matters the most to you. The core messege of P3 is - you are mortal. You will die. So make sure to make the most of the time that was given to you. Make friendships, bonds and cherish every moment.
Also that the Evokers are designed to basically scare the users into reflexively summoning out their Persona because the Dark Hour is extremely close to normal reality so it's way harder to summon there as a result. The reason they decided to go with Evokers is because the Kirijo Group is just weird like that (to put it nicely).
So just to let you know, persona 3 and onwards is like a completely different game series from persona 1 and 2
if you haven't found out or been told already, the reason the characters from Persona 3 are often shown with pistols to their heads is because that is how they summon their Personas. they aren't real guns, they're just models, and the reason it's a gun in particular is, basically, because they're inflicting trauma on themselves in order to summon their other self
