Late, but I'd think you'd really like Ska and the subgenres of it, considering this song sounds like it's a Ska song (the offbeat guitar and bassline sounds a lot like what I hear in other Ska songs). Though you usually hear brass instruments rather than woodwind in Ska.

I think that people sometimes wish for mangas with complex and dark storylines, and Fairy tail is just a bright and friendly one, in which the messages behind everyfight revolves around friendship and beleiving in yourself. Fairy Tail is not a bad manga per say, I honestly loved it till Tartarus arc (last arc with the other kingsom missed the seriousness of Tartarus, the chase to fight more powerful villains was just too much and I felt the precipitation in resolving the main plot instead of finishing secondary ones, and even reopening some that were not supposed to be reopened, I'm watching you mother of Erza...) but I can get why some people find it a bit more "childish". Still if there is one thing no one can take from Fairy Tail, it's the openings and ost.

I'm following One Piece after having abandonned the Fairy Tail franchise completely (100 years quest just won't win my love back), and I feel like Oda and Mashima really having different writing styles towards their character growth. Luffy had his brother taken, he never truly forgot about it, if you have a parrallel, Natsu lost Ignir at the end of Tartarus, and he never brings that again (like the other Dragon Slayers). One Piece fights have a real direction and different ways to engage the reader, it doesn't end with Natsu getting powered up by friendship on the boss villain and destroying him with dragon force (I SEE YOU AKNOWLOGIA). Luffy is driven by friendship, but there are so much more : Justice for his friends in need, Freedom for the people, Revenge against the twisted World Government, Search for the Truth // the One Piece. Every single character has a dream in One Piece, Fairy Tail ? Natsu has Ignir but when he dies, no more dream, Lucy had the 'get all the keys' story, doesn't chase it and the keys basically become a rare thing when you can BUY THEM in stores. Grey... has no dream, then papa appears out of nowhere and suddenly he become a demon slayer, Erza finished her questline season 3 with Jellal, leaving crumbs about her past friends to reunite later, never finished... See the problem ? One Piece has secrets, but it has this way to never loose the little details it spreads, Oda has somehow a clear view as to where his manga goes and what's been set up before. Oda just bashed his manga with a hammer on the last season cause he was BORED of it, began another manga WITH THE SAME GODDAMN CHARA DESIGN (EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER IS COPY PASTE FROM BEFORE) *AND* publishes the 100 years quest. I mean, YES of course it's nice to see the reference to the beginning of Fairy Tail (Natsu did mention he wanted to do one), but THERE WAS OTHER STORIES TO END BEFORE, we reached the end of the 'official' manga WITHOUT a REAL ending, some assbaked couple scenes (No Juvia and Grey wasn't GOOD, THEY HAD A DOUBLE SUICIDE SCENE AND THAT'S HOW GREY ACTS WITH HER ? POSSESSIVE ? 2 PAGES OF NARRATIVE VOID ?!!, Levi and Gajeel who had THE GODDAMN SECRET RELATIONSHIP AND BEST DYNAMIC are 'secretly' wanting to 'have sex' or 'litterally make babies', but no commitment to it, only 'Wendy heard the word babies oooooh'. You have the absolute TROLLING between Natsu and Lucy BECAUSE YOU KNOW there is something with Lucy's feelings, it's been built up since episode 1, IT'S THE MAIN COUPLE, nah let's make her naked cause Lucy only serves as fanservice and have Natsu just confuse the public and not be aware of the tension between them... EVEN BOA HANKOCK OR NAMI HAVE A BETTER POSSIBLE LOVE INTEREST WITH LUFFY, AND I DON'T SPECIALLY WANT HIM TO GET ROMANCED), I can go on over and over about why Fairy Tail is just (down right) bad, cause I fucking loved it as a teenager, but One Piece is just SO MUCH BETTER narratively speaking, and let's not forget Oda's creativity in terms of character design and backstories ! There was so many version of Jellal there’s one with erza, one with Wendy, one with a mustache so I never really liked his character because I never knew who he really was and the timeline never matched so they never could’ve been the same person so who was the real one? It confused tf outta me when I was a kid and still does to this day
