    Thank you so much for being so honest, straightforward, and blunt! The dancing around the daisies, "look at me" "i'm the best mom ever" "my kids never scream". All that really isn't helpful. Your applicable, realistic honesty is so helpful! I have 6 kids, 4 of them being boys. These rules are so helpful!

    We went directly from naps to quiet time with my oldest because I wasn't willing to give up my alone time 😂 I honestly don't know how homeschoolers do it without quiet time.
    My kids are allowed to play outside or downstairs during quiet time. We have a large playroom in the basement and plenty of room to run outside. I love having the whole top floor to myself!
    We do end quiet time with them watching one episode of one educational show (30 min). It's my way of bribing them to behave during quiet time! It works well for us :)

    I found a book that helped me so much with child training! I love your blog post about child training. I was struggling with my kids constantly fighting over things. Its so embarrassing in church when they are disobedient. I've tried spanking and it hasn't worked for me. I kept googling child training and the book called to train up a child popped up and I am so thankful it has helped so much!!

    So grateful for your honesty, advice and clarity, it shouldn't feel as refreshing as it is - but no one is very authentic anymore, thank you ❤

    Yes! We love our quiet time here as well! That’s one of the best pros of homeschooling /being a stay at home mom. Showing children early on that quiet time is important and that everyone benefits from slow down time

    You are my favorite TH-camr, so relatable, a breath of fresh air!! I love your honesty and down to earth style! Thank you for these tips, we've had screens for quiet time, but it always makes fights like you said, so I think that we be a change coming this next week!

    Helpful! We do quiet time daily but I'm running into a challenge with our small home. I'd prefer them to play solo but were kind of on top of each other. I don't mind them playing together but like you said, they start with the fighting and get loud.

      Yes I have that problem too! I usually kick my kids outside to play if they are too noisy inside, if thats not possible I seperate them with a different activity each like lego, colouring or reading

    I really appreciate your approach that it’s ok for everyone to take some quiet time. It’s as much for them as it is for mama. My children even seem to look forward to the unstructured time in the day to play and imagine or rest. We homeschool and have ages 7,5,3 and 2.
    You clearly love children and enjoy them (as do I) , so it’s not mean or selfish to set aside some time in the day to refresh ourselves and our children!
    Quiet time doesn’t end when children drop their naps. It just changes and takes on a different feel. How nice for children to know there’s a time in the day coming where they can be free to do whatever strikes their fancy (within reason lol).

    Momma of 5 her (1, 3, 6, 9, and just 12, so very similar). We do quiet time during little's nap... but these exact problems plague us-- "I'm bored, fighting, hovering. This was great encouragement to continue to reinforce boundaries without feeling like I'm the mean mom! You're doing it right!

    Napping until 4 would be amazing. 1 of mine did that. 2 of them dropped naps sometime when they were 2. We'll see what number 4 does.

    What was your quiet time when you had one child?

    • @thesimplemamma
      @thesimplemamma  ปีที่แล้ว

      when I had one, I just chilled out when they napped, did housework or whatever I wanted, as I had more children I had to make better use of my time, so now I do things that serve me, like workout, create curriculums, write emails an so on.

      @@thesimplemamma thank you I currently have a 5yo and 7month old. I am trying to establish somewhat of a routine but much like you with sporadic feedings and naps adjustment can take time. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

    What if your child doesn’t listen to the rules? Do you have them lay down in their beds?

    • @thesimplemamma
      @thesimplemamma  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes if a child is new to quiet time, (in my home this means thay are 4 ish) then they are given instructions and told where they can play, if they disobey they are to lay in bed. If the child is older and not listening and being disruptive I would have them either complete a task alone, or lay in bed with nothing to do.
