    This video goes over how to replace an oxygen sensor on a 2007 Lexus ES 350 with a 3.5 motor. This should be the same process for any 2006-2010 Lexus ES 350 with the same motor. An oxygen sensor is used by the engine's computer to determine the correct air to fuel ratio needed so that the engine will run efficiently. There are oxygen sensors before the catalytic converter and sensors after the catalytic converter. The ones before the catalytic converter are called upstream and the ones after the converter are called downstream. This Lexus ES 350 has four oxygen sensors, 2 before the catalytic converter and 2 after the catalytic converter. This can vary on different models and manufacturers. Some vehicles can have as many as six. You can drive a vehicle with bad O2 sensors for a period of time if you can put up with the poor performance and decreased gas mileage, but over time it will hurt the longevity of your motor and cause failure of your catalytic converter because your motor wasn’t running efficiently as the manufacturer intended. The most common signs of a bad oxygen sensor are a check engine light, decreased fuel economy, hesitation, rough idling, or misfiring.

    Hello sir. I’m getting a P0051 code on my 2004 ES330 after fixing an exhaust leak. Do you know the location of that sensor?
    I’m not sure if it’s the one in front of the engine or the one before the cat on the exhaust.

    • @TheAutoTeacher
      @TheAutoTeacher  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Front of the engine, Its the one before the Cat.
      (P0051 code) HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 2 Sensor 1).
      A ES330 has four O2 sensor's, two on Bank one and two on bank two.

    Will the check engine light turn off itself after replacing the sensor?

    • @TheAutoTeacher
      @TheAutoTeacher  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not always , if you don't have a scan tool disconnect your battery which causes the ECU to reset the check engine light which is equivalent to a hard reboot on a desktop computer.

      Same basic principle, but on the backside of the motor by the firewall, it's the first oxygen sensor.

    my lexus es330 2005 got diagnosed with an O2 sensor code and i was wondering if that can also be the cause of my steering noise when i make a full turn both left and right

    • @TheAutoTeacher

      No, that would have to do with a breakdown of your power steering fluid or a bad rack and pinion .

    I changed out this exact sensor your pointing to in the beginning of video.
    And now my back mufflers sound louder than before .
    Only thing I noticed was the O2 sensor was a bit shorter than the old sensor it had .
    Is this normal?

    • @TheAutoTeacher
      @TheAutoTeacher  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Oxygen sensors should look exactly like the old one that you remove and it's always a good idea to use whatever was recommended by the manufacturer. Replacing the oxygen sensor will have nothing to do your vehicles exhaust being louder.

    Hello, my friend, I am from Saudi Arabia, and I have the same car, and I have the engine check mark, and I checked the engine, and I got a code P0420. Is this code the same as the problem that you changed now, or is this code for another sensor? Please reply please

    • @TheAutoTeacher
      @TheAutoTeacher  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, we had a PO151 which means that O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1) has been detected.
      There are many variables that could cause your PO420 code ,it can be caused by various things such as a malfunctioning catalytic converter, a clogged air filter, a vacuum leak, spark plugs or O2 oxygen sensors that are beginning to fail .

      Yes, but whenever a Toyota/Lexus throws an engine code, it will also disable the VSC light and triangle. Fix the reason for the PO code and your VSC light should go off.
